A lot of cons for me for a game that draws all those high scores:
- The roguelite natura makes it a chorer to play during the first hours, until you start getting REALLY interesting combinations of powers and power ups. It feels like having to grind to get the fun.
- The turn based combat gets old and repetitive pretty quickly (even though the game offers hundreds of variations of powers, they are all simple disguises for concepts that are old and classic). I have played tons of games that did the same (or better) before, I fail to identify what's new or catchy here.
- Art direction has a lot of perosnality, but it gets dull after some time. The limited color palette didn't resonate in me.
- The base of the game is about the disposal of your character, why should I care for them? The rest of the characters involved are uninteresting even if they are as excentric as they can be.
- Music was getting on my nerves after some time, practically all the themes share the same vibe and pace. Overall, music tries to be too protagonist when it should be more in the background. All in all, a very well crafted game, flawless in execution, but offers nothing new or susbtantially creative to deserve the scores it is receiving.
Shallow, totally depending on luck, a waste of time. I can understand why some may like it, but if you likepuzzles, this is just a disguised casino jackpot machine.
Terrible, boring and repetitive combat and stretched puzzles drag down what could have been a great game. After killing for the 100th time the same enemies I just wanted it to end.
Great adventure, with lots of culture references to a period often ignored or represented in a simplistic way by videogames. I wish there were more games like this one. Thumbs up!
Incredible systems at work. Bland narrative and poor characters, at least in my oppinion. Gameplay is good and deep, but everything else is not as brilliant. Specially in the PS5 version I played some elements are a bit lacking (UI, performance,camera...).
Not perfect, but one of the best narrative adventure games I've ever played. Technically one of the best games ever seen, full of creative ideas and inspiring moments, twisting the pillars of the horror genre. In the bad department, sometimes you are left to wander too much around to find your way, specially in the Alan Wake sections. But this is just nitpicking. Thumbs up for anamazing experience.
Content is great, but ergonomy and loading times are sometimes abysmal. The design of the game itself forces you to constantly reload and save like crazy, resulting in fustrating trial and error with long loading times.
Played the PS4 version and found it a masterpiece, even with its flaws. A game that tries to do something different, powerful and honest, creating raw emotions through gameplay, not exposition. The Switch version comes with obvious downgrades but keeps the core of what made the original version great, plus an incredible OST and an interesting Art Book.
It is an excellent game, but it is broken. The fact there is no save game is an absolute stupidity that devs should have fixed by now. But the worst thung is I have lost my progress twice due to updates. This is a joke. My console was shut down when a new update appeared but it doesnt matter. It is so buggy you can loose your progress anyday. Being an incredibly hard game, it is ridiculous to loose progress. I had slained 3 bosses, I jist dont habe the will to come back to it at all, actually I deserve a refund for faulty software. It is a pitty but they tried too hard to be hardcore and at the end they went stypid with this game.
This game should have never been published in this state. It is broken, unfinished and full of bugs, a big shame and a hard blow to CDPR for performing this big scam to users. It might be a great game in next gen or top pcs but for ps4 this is not acceptable in any way.
