How can Final Fantasy Tactics continue to be the best strategy game 27 years later? Seriously, the history in this is just like a bad theatre play, the unavoidable chores are like being forced to play Tamagotchi between battles.
As someone who started playing it on PC on May/2020, the game is superb. I had a few graphical issues at first, but figured them out (disable DirectX 12, NVIDIA guys!). I have playerd MH4U(650h) and MHGU(350h), and then MHW on PS4 Pro (100h) when it launched, stopped for a long time, and started again from the start on PC (100h as of now). Playing on PC the game feels much more fluid than on PS4 Pro!! (I7-9750H + 1660Ti) My first impression while playing it on PS4 was: the game is good. Loading times are terrible. Something is just not quite there yet. There are some differences to make it easier for newcomers, and they were so well thought that the the essence of Monster Hunter is still very much there, without scaring away unexperienced players. Mastering the game rewards the player as much as it did on previous games, and is just not for anyone. Still, there are loads of content and hours of fun without the need to master it, just by playing with online with randoms, playing with your friends, being a fashion hunter, trying to learn new weapons, playstyles and combos, and so much more. What could be better? Weapon designs were a little uninspired at first, but Iceborne fixed that. Multiplayer is weird. Weird decisions, clunky menus. Also, as someone who started playing when the ball was already rolling, there is just so much content, so many event quests, so many unlockables, I am having a hard time trying to catch up. But I guess that's a good thing, right? More bang for your buck. The game is not perfect, but IMHO, it took all the right steps towards the evolution of the series, and for that, I give it a 10.
The most lacking Pokemon game I've ever played. The story is just weak, the G-max feature is a time consuming joke, battles are not at all innovative and feel like a chore. Animations are acceptable for a console like the 3DS, but again, very lacking when compared to gems like Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda Breath of the Wild. The game is far too easy and do not require you to think on a strategy to beat any opponent at all. Just spam your most super effective move all the game through and you will beat it. I profoundly regret pre-purchasing it, even worse, I got the double pack version to play with my girlfriend. Playing together is another joke. There are lags of 10 seconds or more CONSTANTLY, not to mention that ... well, there is nothing to do when playing together side-by-side. If the game was $30 and from an indie developer, I would say it was worth the price, but instead, you pay full price for half the game. And now there's even a paid DLC coming out, and the DLC alone costs what the full game should cost: $30. Worst purchase of 2019 confirmed. If you plan on buying it anyway, I recommend you pick the physical version as you can sell it later. For me, I'll have the game stuck in my library forever to remind me to don't let hype overcome reason.
Surpassed my expectations. I was expecting the game to be good, but not a masterpiece. The game is so much fun, and it surprises you often with new challenges and present new strategies that affect all game. The story is nice, with good cut scenes and effects. The graphics are amazing. After start playing I started to realize that, those graphics are the true potential of 3DS games, and I hope new games of similar quality continue coming out for 3DS. The 3D is used a lot, and I cannot play without the 3D on for a long while. It just looks so cool I can't turn it off. The music and effects are well made, but not a masterpiece as Ocarina of Time. Some of the new musics can become kind of annoying after a while, but overall, both music and sounds are great. What made me sad about this game is that after one of the coolest parts, the other parts become so easy. I have beaten some entire areas in 30 minutes or so. (I am saying parts to not give spoilers)
