Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

User ScoreSccion

Highly Recommended (Must-play for CRPG fans )Playtime: ~40 hours | Path: Iconoclast | Rating: 8.5/10An Incredible CRPG Triumph As an avid CRPG enthusiast, Owlcat genuinely nailed the essence of the Warhammer 40,000 universe here. The atmosphere, rich writing, branching narrative decisions, and companion dynamics are stellar. The tactical turn-based combat delivers an incredible power fantasy—executing squad synergies with Argenta, Pasqal, and Cassia to turn insurmountable odds into explosive victories never gets old. The freedom to steer your Voidship dynasty and carve an Iconoclast path through grimdark politics makes this one of the most compelling modern CRPG **** Few Flaws: Bloat & Unfocused Mechanics The game only falters when it loses respect for the player's time:Leveling Bloat: 50+ character levels packed with walls of micro-passives feels more like administrative spreadsheet upkeep than rewarding build milestones. A tighter progression curve would have kept builds focused.Overextended Pacing: The game simply overstays its welcome in the final stretch. Acts 4 and 5 trade dynamic roleplay for repetitive, wave-heavy filler battles that drag out the conclusion. Unnecessary Space Filler: The mandatory void ship combat and tedious planet scanning for base resources pull you away from the core RPG loop without offering meaningful depth.Obtuse Quest Triggers: Crucial companion questlines (such as Ulfar's) can lock out without sufficient warning before points of no return. Conclusion : Despite some late-game bloat, Rogue Trader is a top-tier CRPG that delivers outstanding worldbuilding, fantastic combat, and immense roleplaying freedom. A bit of fat-trimming in the space systems and late acts would have made it an outright 10, but it remains an easy 8.5/10 and an absolute must-play.

Overwhelmingly simple. The combat lacks depth, the procedural 'stories' are just a few shallow comic strips, and the campaign loop of scout-fight-repeat gets boring very fast. If you're looking for a tactical RPG with real narrative substance and crunchy combat, this is a waste of time.

It didn't click for me. The game tries to juggle too many genres at once—tactical RPG, roguelite, and horde defense—without really excelling at any of them. The loop quickly becomes slow, repetitive, and dry.

Cubic Cosmos

Finally, a roguelite that respects your time and lets you actually feel **** a sea of overly punitive, agonizingly grindy roguelites that confuse cheap difficulty with depth, Cubic Cosmos hits the sweet spot. It doesn't waste your time or treat your evening like a second job.Instead of dragging you through dozens of hours of punishing filler just to give you breadcrumbs, the game gets right to the fun: discovering wild, explosive synergies and building an engine that snowballs out of control. It captures that deeply satisfying loop of Hearthstone Battlegrounds scaling and board manipulation, but completely offline and single-player—zero PVP toxicity, zero timer anxiety, and zero artificial **** spatial board dynamics are engaging, the run pacing is brisk, and the game isn't afraid to let the player break the math when a build comes together.A genuine breath of fresh air for anyone fatigued by roguelites that don't respect the player's time. Highly recommended.

Mafia: Definitive Edition

User ScoreSccion

A Gripping Cinematic Classic Remade RightMafia: Definitive Edition is a fantastic remake that honors the legacy of the original while giving it a much-needed modern **** standout feature here is undoubtedly the storytelling. The narrative is deeply engaging, drawing you into Tommy Angelo’s trajectory through Lost Heaven’s underworld with great pacing, strong voice acting, and genuine dramatic weight right up to the end.Visually, the game looks impressive. The lighting, weather effects, and character models bring the 1930s backdrop to life in a way that feels immersive and atmospheric. The action and gunplay feel punchy and satisfying, striking a nice balance between old-school cover shooter tension and smooth modern mechanics, even if a few of the late-game difficulty spikes and vehicle sequences can test your **** isn't without its minor flaws, but if you enjoy rich, story-driven cinematic games with strong atmosphere, this is well worth your time.Pros: Immersive and engaging narrative from start to finish Great graphics and strong atmosphere Satisfying combat and cover mechanicsCons: Occasional difficulty spikes in driving/chase sections

Black Jacket

Aug 24, 2026
Respects your time and gives you freedom to build without unnecessary punishmentIn a genre currently overcrowded with overly punitive roguelikes that punish every minor misstep and drag out single runs for over an hour, Black Jacket (alongside Balatro) comes as a breath of fresh air. It understands what makes a deckbuilder truly satisfying: quick loop times, accessible base difficulties, and meaningful strategy over sheer unfairness. Quick, Dynamic Runs: Ending a run in roughly 30 to 35 minutes feels just right. You can sit down, experiment with synergies, execute your build, and get that hit of dopamine without feeling like the game just swallowed your entire evening. Accessible Base Difficulty: The base level doesn't feel designed purely to make you suffer. It grants enough breathing room to learn mechanics, stack modifiers, and actually play the game. If you want a brutal challenge, higher stakes are available, but the foundation respects the player's entry point. Deep Synergy System: Transforming standard Blackjack into a high-stakes tactical deckbuilder works brilliantly. Combining card suits, artifact modifiers, and cheat mechanics to bend the rules opens up immense strategic freedom without relying on cheap RNG to kill your **** Verdict: If you are tired of roguelikes that mistake frustrating game design for difficulty, Black Jacket is an absolute must-play. Fast, incredibly addictive, and built with genuine respect for the player's time.

Across the Obelisk

User ScoreSccion

Across the Obelisk tries to blend roguelite deckbuilding with party RPG mechanics, but it fails completely at respecting the player's time. Instead of offering rewarding tactical depth, the game hides its progression behind an artificial brick wall of **** you are starting out with a fresh account, the game feels blatantly unfair. Progression is ridiculously slow, forcing you to play the exact same Act 1 over and over just to farm town upgrades and perk points. The UI and party setup before every single run are clunky and tedious, lacking the streamlined polish of modern deckbuilders like Balatro or Monster Train.Fights quickly devolve into an annoying slog where enemies stack absurd amounts of shields or status effects (like freeze/chill in Act 2), completely shutting down your turn order and ruining hour-long runs through pure RNG and artificial difficulty spikes.Unless you enjoy grinding for dozens of hours just to make a build viable, steer clear. It is a slow, repetitive, and deeply frustrating experience that values waste of time over genuine strategy.

Monster Train 2
5
User ScoreSccion
Aug 17, 2026
An exhausting, bloated chore BY DEFAULT — but saveable with Custom Mutators. The original Monster Train was a masterclass in clean game design, accessibility, and pure, satisfying deckbuilding. Unfortunately, in its default state, this sequel/expansion throws much of that out the window by trying to reinvent the wheel with overly convoluted systems.Instead of leaning into what made the core gameplay loop so engaging, the base game is bogged down by tedious mechanics—from math-heavy counters and punitive boss gimmicks to micro-management that kills the overall pacing. Played "as intended," it often feels like an exhausting, punitive slog where losing just feels like a frustrating waste of time and an exercise in pure tilt.HOWEVER, there is a saving grace: the game's built-in Custom Run / Mutator **** you strip away the artificial difficulty and tweak the rules to your liking (adding extra Ember, capacity, or artifact drops), the underlying fun, chaotic deckbuilding, and new clan mechanics finally shine through. It transforms from a bureaucratic headache into a genuinely fun, relaxing sandbox where you can build broken synergies and unlock content at your own pace without needing a spreadsheet.Final Verdict: If you play it standard, it’s a massive disappointment compared to the original or refined gems like Balatro. But if you're willing to use the custom mutators to bypass the excessive punishment, there is still a very enjoyable game hidden underneath.

SKALD: Against the Black Priory
7
User ScoreSccion
Aug 8, 2026
An absolute gem for classic TTRPG and CRPG fans, though not without its flaws. Skald: Against the Black Priory proves that you don't need AAA graphics to deliver an atmosphere-rich experience. The retro pixel art style has a captivating charm, capturing the raw essence of old-school tabletop adventures and classic CRPGs like Baldur's Gate. What sets it apart is its brilliant approach to difficulty and accessibility, allowing anyone to fully customize the gameplay—whether you want a relaxed, narrative-driven run or a hardcore tactical challenge. However, a few frustrating issues hold it back from perfection:The Ending: The narrative resolution left a very bitter taste. The bleak, overly depressing finale won't be to everyone's liking if you prefer a satisfying conclusion to your journey.Navigation: The lack of a proper, detailed map/minimap in many areas is heavily felt and leads to unnecessary backtracking.Resource Scaling: Item availability mid-game feels unbalanced at times (like literally running completely out of arrows mid-campaign).Still a masterclass in modernizing retro RPG mechanics, but be prepared for some old-school design friction and a dark narrative shift.

Aliens: Dark Descent captures the franchise atmosphere well, but it completely fails to respect the player's time.I started playing on Medium difficulty, and the experience quickly turned into a frustrating nightmare of stress management, endless enemy respawns, and confusing, labyrinthine maps. When I reached a wall where progression became an exercise in pure irritation, I went to lower the difficulty just to enjoy the story... only to discover that difficulty settings are locked and cannot be changed **** game's only "solution" is to throw away hours of progress and start all over again from scratch on a New Game. Instead of offering basic accessibility options, it forces an absurd cycle of punishment. This is not a game for casual players or anyone with a busy life who just wants to unwind after work. It is designed exclusively for hardcore players with endless patience for repeating missions and enduring unfair **** you don't want to risk wasting hours of your time because of locked settings, pass on this one. But ill say if you play on easy its an entertaining game

Great atmosphere ruined by dated, frustrating mechanicsIf you enjoy games that complicate basic systems just for the sake of artificial friction, this might be for you. Otherwise, stay away. While the music, world-building, and lore are fantastic, the gameplay design is full of tedious, archaic hurdles. A prime example is the character progression: you can’t even spend your skill points or unlock new abilities while exploring. You’re forced to stop your adventure, trek all the way back to town, and visit the Review Board just to "approve" a level upgrade.Combine this with an overly confusing map, rigid grid-based combat with frustrating mechanics early on, and constant backtracking, and the game becomes a chore rather than an enjoyable experience. If you don't have nostalgia for 80s dungeon crawlers that disrespect your time, give this one a pass.

"Star Wars Outlaws has a lot going for it. The core gameplay is fun, the story is engaging, and several of the side quests are surprisingly good. However, the overall enjoyment is heavily ruined by the character design. Most of the character models—especially the female characters—look remarkably poor. Even the main protagonist looks terrible in-game, which is baffling considering the actual actress used for the face model is very attractive. It could have been a much better experience, but these visual and character rendering choices really pull it down."

"The game has potential, but it falls flat due to some deeply annoying design choices. The combat feels confusing and restrictive, and you can't spend your ability points unless you find specific Salutators. The major issue is that the game gives zero clues on where or how to find them. I ended up finishing the entire game missing half of the Salutators and holding onto a mountain of useless, unspent ability points. It could have been a great RPG, but this progression design completely ruined the experience for me."
