Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

Harry Potter has been the film series of this generation and millions upon millions adore it. I do like them but not to a huge extent. The closing saga is, undoubtedly, the best of the eight but it is not my favourite. What it does do though is deliver a textbook finale and and the end I was satisfied with the movie. Also I should point out I have not read the books so I cannot compare the two. Good, thrilling action towards the end with excellent portrayals by the actors/actresses.

An interesting different approach to the new Star Trek. A more "shoot first and ask questions later" feel. And I very much so enjoyed it. A much faster pace which is much preferred in my mind and excellent special effects and a brilliant casting. Good to see Simon Pegg in there as Scotty! The only letdown is the lens flare which can be off putting at times. But a thrilling story nonetheless with a fantastic villain and it seems this is the benchmark for the next generation of Star Trek.

Having not read the book beforehand, I did not know what to expect. Fortunately I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. An uplifting, heart-warming tale of a young man to find himself. Many likable characters with their own different backgrounds all coming together in a story filled with laughter, sadness and love. And well done to Logan Lerman who I dislike greatly, but he certainly did play his role well. A film for everyone, whether you have read the book or not.

This film sees a different side of Martin Scorsese with this suspenseful and eerie thriller. The way in which DiCaprio's character's emotions change throughout this film is totally unexpected. It may not be Scorsese's best film and the ending could disappoint, but an all-round great!

Incendies is a work of art that is at some points very disturbing and quite hard to watch. It is let down by a burlesque ending which is disappointing as the rest of the film is a triumph of modern cinema. I thought the actors and actresses played their roles very well. And there is one scene which I found very, very upsetting. Big thumbs up to this film!

Dustin Hoffman kills it as Raymond Babbit. A touching and moving story that was worthy of winning the Oscar Best Picture, Tom Cruise's character was also brilliant but at the same time I found him very unpleasant and sometimes upset the film but him and Hoffman developed a very strong, brotherly bond that made the film very solid.

Mystic River is a very good film but is let down by a story-line that appears to be slightly all over the place and a couple of plot-holes (just my opinion). However, it is a solid, powerful movie and hats off to Clint Eastwood. The actors play their characters very well, especially Kevin Bacon, I really like his character. Definitely worthy of a Best Picture Nomination.

I don't like romantic comedies and I don't really like Woody Allen. So yeah, I didn't like this film very much. The characters are not really interesting or engaging and I felt the romance wasn't that great at all. At least it was quite short and not as slow moving or as dialogue-empty as other films. But still, I was not very pleased with this movie but then again others do and so I suggest you think carefully if you're considering watching this film.

One of Steven Spielberg's finest. I adore this movie and I love watching it again and again. Sam Neill will always be known as Alan Grant for the rest of his life. It is extremely remarkable how CGI from 20 years ago can still hold up today and is better than most special effects used in films today. Throughout, I felt like I was on Isla Nublar, being hunted down by a group of genetically created monsters. And the soundtrack just gives me goosebumps. An all-time great and a must-watch!

Despite it being rather long, I enjoyed 3 Idiots. Prior to watching this, I had never seen a Bollywood film before and I would love to watch more. The characters are both funny and, somewhat, relate-able. I thought the story line was inch perfect and the ending was not what I expected!

An outstanding performance by Mickey Rourke who, I think, should have got that Oscar. The actual wrestling only tells half the story. Outside of the arena, I believe, is where The Wrestler is most strong. Here is where we experience the heartbreaking story of this highly acclaimed wrestler and really goes on in his life. A big thumbs up to this movie!

Another slow and long-winded movie. The only praise is the scenes. From start to finish there are short pieces of dialogue, a minimal amount of actual movement and characters that were very dull indeed. However, if you are a fan of artistic movies then it is worth watching.

I loved Big Fish. It was very uplifting and had a Forrest Gump feel to it. All the fairy tales told were engaging and heartwarming. I experienced a variety of emotions during this film and it almost drove me to tears. If you did not enjoy it then it is possible you did not understand it. I certainly did understand it and I still continue to love it.

The movie is very slow moving and I assumed the pace would increase but, sadly, I was wrong. Nothing much really happens. The music gets very irritating. I think anyone could have played the roles of the main characters. The only praise I have is that it is quite artistic. I am somewhat perplexed as to why so many people adore this film.
