A decent attempt at trying to bring sonic back to his glory days. There are a few little things that **** away at me though, Visually the game has some excellent scenery and enemies, sonic himself seems a little stretched though. The toon style colouring didnt help too much either, it made the game look a little tacky and cheap. Gameplay some of the classic and new elements worked very well. The lack of any kind of ease in and ease out when moving through the air was a little unusual. Felt like you were in a Zero G enviroment. Still a much better installment in the series unlike Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Heroes, Sonic The Hedgehog (2006). Look forward to the second part
Well after such a long time the most amazing video game in history finally returns. Nintendo have played an absolute blinder by rereleasing this game. Graphically they have improved the look overall but only to the point that it looks familiar, the animation of the enemies and characters has improved and looks much better and more fluid. The 3D effect really gives the game a much more epic scale, even link just swing a sword directly at the camera looks amazing. Besides the looks of the game little has changed. The inventory is much easier to use now that the game has moved to the 3ds, even the use of the gyroscope for aiming and looking round is very good. While the game stays true to the original and even includes the master quest and a boss challange mode i feel it maybe lacks one more thing but this is still an excellent game and will remain one of Nintendo's crown jewels.
Well being a big follower of the smackdown series all the way back to its ps1 origins. I feel really that the series reached its peak at Smackdown vs Raw and went slowly down hill from 2007 onwards. Alot of the matches feel generally the same and have no real enjoyment factor even when more interactivity with the enviroment and more variation in moves are added on. The reason i feel the series has gone down hill mostly is down to the fact that the series has taken to the idea of being more family friendly, so they have to get rid of the diva exclusive matches e.g. fulfil your fantasy and the bra and panties matches. The matches may be viewed as sexist or not appropriate for family view but they had more innovation than the last 2 titles put together. Another gripe i have is with the story mode and created wreslters. Can only be used 10 times in an entire story (including cut scenes and matches). The only way to make a long story with a created wrestler would be to divide it into loads of parts. THQ need to address this problem if they want to get me to buy the 2011 edition. The game still has some good merits about it though. The create your own entrance has been vastly improved. Now not only can you incorporate your own music you can also create an entrance video using match footage. This made incorporating yourself into the game even more brilliant. It feels more of a challange to win a match now unlike the previous titles where you could time your moves depending on the body movement of your opponent. now its much more unpredictable. Overall a half decent game but i feel its gone way off its roots and is going to lose alot of its original fanbase if they dont try bring some of the more popular elements.
I originally thought that this game would just be another run of the mill DOOM clone. To my surprise there was some plot, unique level and enemy design. The one thing that caught my attention was the character design. While most of the characters were more or less the same it was good to see clive barker introduce a character with mild Autism. Being autistic myself it is nice to see this kind of awareness in big video game/film and tv. I've been into alot of FPS's before but this one definatly had some of the more shocking enemies i had seen in games at the time i bought it. Clive Barker still has that shock factor that i love to see from his work. The way you have to swap between characters is very innovative and adds a new level of thinking to the game play. The storyline is very good and well written as well. While the game has its merits it does have its downfalls. First the amount of damage you take before you die seems to be very low even on a simple difficulty. Another gripe is that every enemy regardless of how much ammo you pump into them doesnt even slow down or stagger but this does add to the urgency of a quick kill. Lastly the ending seemed a little lackluster. Even a tortoise lighting a fart could have had more excitiment to it. Still a decent game but could be improved in a few areas
