Cuphead10

Playing Cuphead on Nintendo Switch with my girlfriend and having an absolute hoot. Yes, it's tough, even on simple mode, but trying, dying, trying again and dying again has never been so much fun! The graphics and music are absolutely sublime and the animations are hilarious. We're having a great time! LOVE IT!

Little Racers STREET8
Feb 25, 2020
A fun and addictive top-down racer (though you can change camera angles to suit your play style). Reminds me of MASHED that I used to love playing on PS2 (though Little Racers Street lacks the weaponry of that game). The AI on the computer controlled opponents is good and races feel like a genuine challenge on normal mode. Loads of cars to buy and upgrade. Really fun, casual game to drop in and out of.

I love games like this one; one-shot kills, try-and-die until you get it right. I'm (I think) around half-way through at the moment and having a great time. Whenever I get stuck /frustrated I go back and retry earlier levels to see if I can do them quicker/die less. Whilst it's soundtrack isn't bad, it's not on Hotline Miami/Katana Zero levels, but serves it's purpose. For fans of: Hotline Miami, Ronin, Katana Zero, Ape Out

Outland9
Nov 14, 2018
Smooth, relaxing, at times a little taxing, Outland is a fantastic platform-puzzler/Metroidvania that looks as beautiful as it sounds. The reds and blues might melt your mind occasionally, but overall Outland is a very soothing experience. My only annoyance is the the reliance on controller right-shoulder button to switch between light/dark. I never feel like that particular button on my controller is the most responsive, but this is down to dodgy controller design, not game design (UPDATE: Just discovered you can change controller set-up so that dark/light switch is the Y button instead..... a game changing discovery!)

Bought it on sale and certainly don't regret the £4 I spent on it. I've only played a couple of sessions on it thus far, but am enjoying unleashing a festival violence upon my enemies a great deal. It sits somewhere between Hotline Miami 2 (it's a violent "top down" game that requires the player to systematically clear levels of enemies), and the Batman Arkham games (in that you perform punches/kicks/dodges/counters to create seamless combos). The sheer amount of ultra-violent take-downs, using a variety of weapons and your environment is very impressive and makes you want to use all the tools at your disposal in order to be rewarded with a suitably gory, animated kill. Their is the odd graphical glitch, some uninspired cut-scenes and fairly repetitive game-play, but despite this I'm really enjoying myself thus far and look forward to attempting speed-runs and other challenges once I've finished wreaking my revenge.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number9
Oct 23, 2018
I must confess to having never played the original, but I'm loving the sequel. Dream-like ultra-violence. Sometimes a fast-paced kill-fest frenzy is the way forward. Other times a measured stealthy assassin approach works best. Just don't leave anyone alive. Extremely addictive, just-one-more-go gaming at it's best. Colourful, psychadelic, top-down pixel graphics. A fantastic soundtrack. Very difficult to stop playing. My only criticism is that some levels are a bit harsh in terms of having unseen assailants shoot you off-screen. However, the trail-and-error nature of the game means you soon learn where these are and adapt your tactics to deal with it. Almost finished my first run through of it. Look forward to a second go with all the extra masks/weapons I've picked up in the hope of achieving those elusive "A grades". Also looking forward to trying out the levels created by other players using map maker . Thoroughly recommended (unless you don't like video nasties)

Little Nightmares10
Oct 16, 2018
"It's creepy and it's kooky, Mysterious and spooky It's altogether ooky .... it's Little Nightmares!" As stated by others, if you love LIMBO and INSIDE then you'll like this game a lot! Again, as others have said, this game has a Tim Burton meets Evil-Studio-Ghibli aesthetic. It's soundtrack is creepy and works well to raise the tension as you tip toe and hide through the various rooms and past grotesque enemies. A few people complaining at "the lack of story" compared to the likes of Inside and Limbo. Whilst the story is certainly ambiguous, I felt it was less so than the aforementioned titles. The story was certainly good enough to make me audibly gasp in shock at certain points. It is quite a short game, but the DLC pads it out nicely and ups the stakes in terms of scaring the living bejeezus out of me. Summary: Two thumbs. Highly recommended - an absolute must-have if if you like Inside and Limbo and don't mind ambiguity in your storytelling.

Absolutely loved this game. Beautiful graphics, wonderful soundtrack, genius level design and plenty of "feels". I really didn't want this adventure to end. Hopefully a sequel is on it's way!

Not a Hero8

This game ticks all my boxes regarding comedy, violence and pixel graphics. A fast and furious 2D cover based shooter that had me having "just one more go" for hours on end. The game has you work for Bunnylord (a purple rabbit from the future) in his quest to become Mayor and save the world by stamping out crime in the most exteme way possible and thereby winning voter confidence. You begin as Steve as balaclava, gun-toting mercenary, but as the game progresses, you unlock further characters, each with their own abilities, weaponry and distinct personalities (and regional accents). Each level has one promary goal, and three secondary goals. The primary objectives are generally quite easy, but its those pesky secondary objectives that will have you retrying missions over and over and over and over and over (repeat until you get the point) again. I loved this game. The gameplay is simple but fun and the humour is spot on. I've continued to play long after the completing the levels. Its just too much fun.
