Imo, this is the best combat system in any 2D Metroidvania. It has a Sekiro feel to the defense vs offense blend.

Nearly perfect game. People who complain about the weapon degradation obviously didn't play the whole game or didn't put much critical thought into it. The weapon degradation is paradoxically what makes the game great. Let me explain, you need a lot of weapon slots since the weapons break quickly, and you come across weapons quickly. How do you get more weapon slots? EXPLORING!! Without the need for all those extra slots, you wouldn't have a reason to leave no stone unturned, literally. You need to gather Korok Seeds to expand your weapon slots, you get Korok Seeds by scouring the map. The greatest element of this game is its exploration, which is driven by the hunt for Korok Seeds.

I feel like I must have missed something with this game. I've played it twice and both times I just felt like I was always waiting for something to happen. I think maybe it would have resonated more for me if I was better educated on the history of Eastern European politics.

I think this is a fairly overrated game. It doesn't have the depth of mechanics of Devil May Cry and the story is complete nonsense. But you come to these games for the gameplay and I think it's a tier lower than Devil May Cry. The platforming sections can be annoying and the exploration element is lacking.

When this first came out, it was undoubtedly the greatest DLC ever made. in 2025, I think it's been surpassed by only one DLC, that being Elden Ring's Shadow Of The Erdtree. But those are fairly disparate games. So as far as story based RPGs, I still think this is obviously the greatest. It's a 10/10 must play.

This is exactly what I've been begging game devs to do in single-player games for years. Many of my favorite single-player games have something in common, densely packed smaller open-ish worlds. Games like Prey 2017, Dishonored series, and Deus Ex Mankind Divided are the best examples. Those games have so much content packed into such small areas and generally allow you to explore as you see fit. That's what this game nailed. It's such a great design philosophy that it makes up for all the game's flaws, which it has quite a few. Some can be compensated for by playing on the hardest difficulty but turning on the guard's reaction gauge visibility. The hardest difficulty turns it off and makes it unclear when a guard can see you. The complaints about poor AI are either from people who played on an easier difficulty than the hardest or simply don't know anything about game design. If you had strong AI in a stealth exploration game it wouldn't be fun at all. They need to make the guards give up exploring within a reasonable time, they can't be allowed to chase you from one end of the map to the next, and they need to have narrow cones of vision or you'll never be able to sneak. Apparently, people don't understand this. Which is fine, not everybody knows as much as I and game devs do. The combat is rough for a reason. Again, people not understanding basic game design. If it were fun and efficient, you'd just shoot everyone and then explore. Rather than balancing stealth and exploration and then calculating the risk to reward of attacking a guard. This game is a promising look into the talent of the game devs here. And a showcase of why smaller but more densely packed worlds are so much more engaging than vast empty open worlds like Assassin's Creed Valhalla. If the next game they make is also Indiana Jones, I'd be willing to bet they improve all the rough edges of the game and make it an unmissable 10 out of 10 experience. As for this one, if you like densely packed worlds and also love yourself some Indiana Jones, it's a solid 9. Check it out!!

The game is fun and I'm having a great time as a warrior. The combat is much better than I was expecting. The level design and exploration are solid as well. I think the voice acting is a little too childish but otherwise, this is a good game with some obvious flaws. As usual with internet hate mobs, the criticism was extremely exaggerated. To the point I'd wager 90% or more of the 0/10 reviews are from culture justice warriors who have never actually played the game. Unfortunately, outrage appeals to the lowest common denominator of humans. As demonstrated by the grammar in all the 0/10 reviews. They don't have more than a couple of articulable and valid complaints about the game. Their real complaints are that you can be nonbinary if you choose to be. So essentially, the negative reviews are largely just from bigots, sadly. It's The Last of Us Part 2 all over again.

The game is a lot more fun than I was expecting. I'm playing as a warrior and at times it almost feels like I'm playing God of War. The level design is not bad and there are a lot of goodies strewn about to keep me interested in exploring. As usual for the internet, the hate is unwarranted and says more about the people outraged for no articulable reason than it does about the game.

If you enjoy densely packed small interconnected worlds this game is one of the greatest games of all time. Every person on the space station has their own life and interpersonal drama you can learn about. As with all immersive sims, if you spend the time to read all the emails and listen to all the audio logs you will get way more out of the game. The real star here is the level design. It has a 3D Metroidvania design element that I'm a real **** for. It's the type of world where you literally need to search every square inch of the station. They did a wonderful job with the verticality of the levels too. I was consistently sure I had explored every part of an area, only to discover entire new areas I missed on my next playthrough. I would miss them because they were only accessible through a small vent hidden in the ceiling or behind a large piece of furniture I needed an upgrade to move. The only thing that can be seen as a negative is the enemy variety. But it makes perfect sense within the story. An intelligent parasite-like race of aliens has infected the ship. It wouldn't make sense for there to suddenly be 100 different types of them. But there are several and the most common can turn into ANY item on the ship. Creating this wonderful mind game where you begin to question your reality and if that chair or cup was just there a second ago. So I don't see the enemy variety as a negative. The TL;DR: Take the plot of Dead Space, mix it with the interconnected level design of Dark Souls, and add a heaping tablespoon of Deus Ex's densely packed design philosophy and you have Prey, one of the greatest and most underrated games of all time.

Played about half of the game and couldn't play any more. It's not a real From Soft game. The level design is bland and has nothing in common with any other From Soft game, the combat is uninspired, and the story is a snooze fest. The coolest part is the customization options for your mech.

In my opinion, The Greatest Game Ever Made. Full Stop. I think "SkillUp" on YouTube said it best: "There are two types of people in the world. People that have played all the way through Outer Wilds, and people who think some other game deserves game of the year." Check out his 2019 games of the year for a review that somewhat does Outer Wilds justice. That said, there's really no way to do this game justice through words alone. It must be experienced. Now, it may not be for everyone. To truly appreciate it, you need to be fairly educated. You need to have an interest in Space, astrophysics, and cosmology. Since one must have a certain level of intelligence to understand its brilliance. Outer Wilds only appeals to those of above-average intelligence as demonstrated by the written reviews here. Look at the difference in grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure between the 10 and the sub-5 reviews. Even the 7s regularly mention that they "didn't get it". If you explain a dark hole to a child or scientifically unlettered adult, they won't understand what's so profoundly interesting about the concept. Yet many of the greatest minds of modernity have dedicated their lives to just black holes. Interest in cosmology and astrophysics requires a certain level of intelligence. One must be smart enough to "get it". To comprehend the nearly incomprehensible vastness of a single galaxy. To imagine the possibilities that come with such vastness. So if you enjoyed the show Cosmos, you'll love this game. If you enjoy puzzle/detective games, you'll love this game. If you also enjoy scary games, you'll love the DLC. The DLC (Echoes of The Eye) is amazing! Up there with The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine as the greatest DLCs ever released. The game, like many puzzle/detective games, can have times when you get stuck. If you're getting frustrated, look on YouTube for the answer. Don't let your pride keep you from experiencing the entirety of this game. I almost didn't finish it. I got stuck and refused to "cheat" by looking online. I got over that misguided notion, looked online, discovered I missed something obvious, and continued on. When I finally beat this game, I was left sitting there with my mind blown like it hadn't been blown since Final Fantasy 7 as a kid, or The Last of Us years ago. This game is mind-blowing, spine-tingling, and heart-stirring. When I was playing the DLC at 2 am with the lights off, I was more frightened than I've ever been by any piece of media in my adult life. Yet I couldn't put the game down. Pure brilliance by the developers and I can't wait to see what they do next. I highly doubt this game could ever be topped though. You'd be a fool to miss this game and if you didn't enjoy this game, you most likely are a fool, no offense, but the truth is the truth. I would give anything to play it again for the first time.

This DLC and The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine are the two greatest DLCs ever released. Just as good as the base game but adds a horror element. I've never been so scared in my adult life by a video game lol. Yet I couldn't stop playing it. If you like the base game don't miss this. If you truly can't afford it, pirate it. I'm sure the developers won't mind. If you can afford it though, please support them and this amazing content!

This game is amazing. The shooting is on par with the best games out there. The atmosphere is top-notch. The game rewards skill without being impossible for new players to get into. Picked it up on sale for $20 and I haven't put it down for two weeks straight. I've dumped about 60 hours in and can't wait for more. I'm very confused by the negative reviews since I don't find them to match reality at all. One said there's no practice mode, there is, it's literally called training mode. Along with tons of single-player challenges that help sharpen your skills. The same reviewer said you'll be matched with max-level players. Not true. I've never seen one max-level player. There's a robust elo rating system that matches you with players that have the same skill level and I find it works well. A reviewer said if you choose to play solo you're only matched against teams. Again, not true. There's a quickplay mode where EVERYONE is solo. It's frustrating seeing reviews from people that play one match of one of the best games I've ever played and give it a ZERO OUT OF TEN. I think it speaks to their intelligence. This game is great. If you find battle royal, western, and atmospheric games give this a try, I promise you won't regret it. I was skeptical at first but "Skillup" on YouTube had an excellent review on the game so I decided to give it a shot. Boy am I ever glad I did.

It's a good game but I don't think it's the best game of all time like a lot of fanboys like to indicate. It isn't even the best game on the n64. That honor goes to golden eye. I think Majora's mask was better. As far as greatest games ever I think Final fantasy 7, Mass Effect 2, Skyrim, Mario, GTA 5, and Metal Gear Solid are all much better. I also think A Link To The Past is better than this.

This game is just Ok. It is a rip off of final fantasy 7. But it's super linear and you travel to your destinations on a dotted line which for me ruins any rpg. I think open worlds like ff7 is what makes an rpg great. The battle system is pretty cool but that's about it for me. Not a terrible game but not on the level **** rpg like final fantasy.

This games has a steep learning curve to be really good at it but if you are willing to put some time and effort into it and maybe buy a fightstick it's so rewarding to beat up on someone online or in an arcade. Seriously there's nothing like making someone salty because they can't beat you. I play dudley, a low tier character and I found the best dudley player in the world online a couple years ago and have been playing with him ever since. Consequently I've gotten to be a solid player. Learning the timing for links and the whole metagame makes this the deepest and best fighter of all time in my opinion. It's like fast paced chess at high levels of play. I love it.

Oh man this game was a lot of fun to play. I really immersed myself into the role playing. I think the only thing that could be improved would have to be the character models and the amount of voice actors. It takes you out of the immersion a little to hear the same voice actor over and over and over. The character models were a little too stiff compared to other great rpgs like mass effect. I hope next time they work on those parts a little more. Great game, I was never into the whole mid evil dungeons and dragons type of thing but this game was just too much fun.

Great game. Not as good as final fantasy 7 though. The battle mechanics were less interesting and going from the amazing materia system to this was a little disappointing. I didn't feel for the characters as much as I did for the ff7 cast. The villain wasn't as compelling either. I still thinks it's a great game though. After this is when it all went downhill for the final fantasy series. One crappy release after another.

The first game that ever made me feel something for the characters. I cried when Aeris died and rejoiced when I beat the game. I studied the strategy guide like a text book from school. I spent a good chunk of a summer playing this game and it holds a special place in my heart. It may not have aged very well but to me it doesn't matter. I know one day they'll do a complete remake and I'll purchase it no matter what. The direction the series has gone the last ten or so years is disappointing. I don't know how square enix doesn't understand what made these games so great. It was the exploration and open world feel with steady progression. There was nothing like finally getting the knights of the round summon after all those chocobo races and ripping through every enemy with that summon. I loved the materia system I wish they would do it again in another ff game. People that hate on this game only do it because they didn't play the game when it came it. It hasn't aged too well graphics wise but you can't compare it to today's graphics. It's not fair. You can't say Mario bros is a **** game because of the graphics or that golden eye is **** because of the controls. You have to have experienced the games you rate when they came out. Great story, great music, fantastic open world feel, there aren't many games that can compare to ff7. Most people that played it when it came out know that. Best jrpg ever.
