A return to form for Crytek that defies busy FPS norms. Like its ’orrible spiders, Hunt: Showdown is constantly shifting and very hard to put in a box. Get yourself online and join in the hunting fun. [Issue#173, p.86]
I'll admit I wasn’t keen on Hunt: Showdown to start with, but after the first few matches I realised there's something special here. This is an unusual entry in a genre ruled by far snappier shooters, and it takes time to get your head around Crytek's clever twist on the formula. Stick with it and you'll be rewarded with a uniquely engrossing multiplayer experience.

I dont think this is a game most people would enjoy. The gameplay is very campy and instakill. There are pve mechanics which are really just cosmetic as the goal of the game is to get the bounty, but whole gameplay design is counter productive as it makes you actively avoid it. The map also feels way too small for a battle royale type game, and its very snowbally as wins give you better chars as dying makes you reset to the default char. It is very beginner unfriendly, especially as only the stagnant water small player base try hards play it, the qs take forever even with the small lobby size.

This game is one of the worst games ever made.RAMPANT CHEATERS. The devs literally stoppedposting the ban numbers so that the player base can’t see how bad it is. Secondly the code is a mess. CONSTANT crashes and game breaking bugs that take months to get fixed while they instead work on cosmetic items to sell to the whales. DYING PLAYER BASE will mean you’re only playing with cheaters or people with thousands of hours in the game. DO NOT BUT YOU WILL REGRET IT.

This game is absolutely great. But they say they have cross platform betweenXbox and ps5 but that’s not fully true. You can play with Xbox. You just can’t invite your friends to play. So that’s unforgivable to me.

With its evocative setting and a delectable mix of PvE and PvP gameplay that provides a peerless theater for emergent player stories, Hunt: Showdown is an exceptionally clever and thoughtful shooter that elevates the genre as a whole. I can see Hunt Showdown being a fixture of my gaming diet for months, even years to come.

Hunt: Showdown's unique horror-infused mix of PvE and PvP will frustrate you... but more and often than not it will also leave you with one hell of a story to tell.

Honestly, I can’t say anything bad about this game. I recently have gotten into the extraction genres. I purchased the 1896 release. Graphics even on the PS5 are absolutely stunning. Wish there was more ads for this title. I found this game per google and steam reviews. I got one love the realism about the game so maybe I’m oneof the exceptions who personally love the new bullet drop. It’s a good learning curve and something I’m used to with other titles. The shooting range is amazing. Most games I play especially FPS do not have this and it baffles me. Not only that, probably the best shooting range out of any game. When I get off the game I can’t wait to log back in. Everyday I find more and more things I didn’t know previously about Hunt, the (TIPS) Apertures, the search menu with traits, prestige, throwing lanterns at horses, choke bombs on poison, pinging distance with scopes and spy glass. It’s ridiculous. It’s funny because I actually thought to myself; wow I wish I could ping the distance, tried it with scope and was wowed. The different pacts comparability’s with other traits, listening for map boss with dark vision. It’s insane. The only downside I can think of is that I’m red/green colorblind and their are zero options for this. My teammates will ping a location for a character/hunter and I see nothing. I heard they used to have shades but it made for exploits. Wish they just had a slight differential for the different colorblind types, especially mine which starts with a D lol. I’ve noticed in some games that I rubberband seldomly, compounds can raise frame rates. But it tends to do this and then doesn’t for the rest of my night. Like I said, seldomly. I give this game a 10.5 out of 10. It’s thought of things I couldn’t have. I would have a slight issue with fire damage, although realistically this is how it should be and it makes for disposing on other hunters easier especially while playing solo. I’ve jumped and almost knocked my table over more times than I can count. First game where I need to strictly play through sounds. It makes it the most immersive gameplay I’ve ever had. Feels like your there. The game can be punishing but it was designed this way. It has a big learning curve but they isolate this with a pretty decent MMR system. The animations, the reality of this game. It’s French kiss. I have almost completely stopped playing my other games. I wouldn’t be against them releasing a midievil title like this. Sword and shield vs demons and other crusaders. I would never put it down. Slightly smaller maps mixed with bows, shields for defense. But mainly upclose combat. Maybe buff health 1.5 times to make it more engaging. Smoke bombs to disperse for quick escapes. Fire bombs right before drinking a salve skin antidote or pouring something over the head of the Crusader. Just pitching ideas here. Maybe mix in a little magic. A temporary defensive bubble that is temporary for escapes or to give enough time to reach for a 2h sword or splash some salve skin on. To see these animations unfold like the bullet loading and spear throwing. Wow sure would be awesome, huh? Anyway this is an older title and it keeps breaking boundaries and keeps its player base and still expands. Game is brilliant. Not my pitched idea, well sure mine is too. lol but Hunt Showdown:1896. Absolute stunning and heart stopping immersive game. I want to see someone play with a heart monitor and stream this. Anyway 10.5/10. Only thing that I ask is that they get some sort of better anti-cheat. I myself, haven’t encountered this or even know if I have. But this would be the downfall of this game. One love.

Hunt showdown is the best extraction shooter PVP game you can experience, slow but intense combats,PVE is challenging and could be a problem when facing other players, Weapons are well balanced you can die to the cheapest weapon on the game on a multiple occasions which adds fun to the game.

Hunt Showdown is a thrilling and original take on the battle royale genre. Hunt and be hunted for the best rewards whilst walking through the lands of 19th century Louisiana. Despite some minor technical flaws, the first-person shooter succeeds in delivering both exciting and terrifying co-op experience.

Hunt: Showdown is perfect for gamers who are in it for the long haul. Those that love the rush of endorphins that come with a long-sought-after victory, and who are okay with death after death after near-victory after dumb mistake/disconnection/other tragedy that hinders an otherwise flawless ascent towards the next bloodline level.

Hunt: Showdown is at first absolutely terrifying, but as you adjust it morphs into a smart, tense, and rewarding shooter that is best played with friends. It has slow moments and losing your hunter and progress can be incredibly frustrating, but those moments are all forgiven when you take down an enemy team with your sniper rifle. A fascinating shooter which isn't for everyone, but might be for you.

Hunt Showdown on PS4 manages to deliver an amazing tense atmosphere and it's fun to play, but the UI and some engine limitations make the experience a little bit more lackluster than it should be, for its price.

Hunt could have been so much more. As a hypothetical single player game, in which you carefully research a mark as you make your way through a deep south Gothic nightmare towards the final, hellish, confrontation, Hunt could have been something truly special. But commercial reality won't allow for that. Multiplayer shooters and content-driven live services are where the money's at, and in chasing the money Crytek has produced something that's a whole lot of fun to play, but ultimately shallow, vapid, and a complete waste of all the effort that went into the theme and design of the thing.

great game. but too many cheaters on PC and even console is riddled with mouse and keyboard players. there is a way to detect that, but for some reason this isn't taken seriously

This amazing game goes to great lengths to make you NOT like it. Unfortunately, that truly is Hunt: Showdown's overriding design principle. Which is incredibly unfortunate because if you're in the mood for a unique and intense multiplayer experience this game is easily worth the asking price. But you have to make what seems to me to be an unnecessary commitment to this game when much could be done on the developers' side to make everyone happy. I still recommend the game, but if your frustration tolerance is low don't bother, maybe just watch some YT videos about it.
