After the Warcraft 3 Reforged disaster this is the second game in a row that does a great job of showing what blizzard has become. Beeing proud of their products is not a thing anymore. They dont care to develope good games. They dont want their customers to enjoy their games. The only goal is reckless exploitation of their fanbase while destroying one franchise after another.

All technical aspects qualify for a 80-95% rating in their respective categories. The base foundation of the game is pretty good. What has been built on this foundation not so much. The writing, characters and storyline fail to sum up to something worth being released under the name of this brand. The chance of getting disappointed by this game is quite high. So my advice for anyone who wants to check out what this game is about is to first of all not expect too much and maybe consider getting a used copy.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls6

The add-on is average and pretends to be more than it actually is. Started playing RoS on Release together with my Buddy. We had some fun for some hours and got what we expected to get from the expansion. Graphics, gameplay, mechanics, technical aspects, content, everything can best be described with words like "O.K.", "decent", or "as expected". There was nothing "overwhelming", no "wow", or "mind blown" to be found in this game. Once we cleared the fifth act, leaned back and overlooked whats left to do the illusion was falling apart pretty quick and the addon became very negligible. Took us maybe like 10 hours to finish act 5. At this point we kept on farming for some more hours, done some "rift" runs, finished tal rashas set. But it became obvious that there are no real new experiences waiting, no interresting experimenting, no interresting challenges. Basic elements of the game, like skill tree or items, are just much too simplistic. Yes basically this addon could have been a huge content patch. It is just big enough to justify taking actual money for it. Half the time we spent was maybe 8/10, the actual first playthrough in act 5 for example. The runs that followed the first playthrough already been pretty boring and desperate runs trying to farm some legendaries and set items. Overall experience: 6/10. There are much better games out there.

Highly overrated game. Major parts can only be called shallow, extremely repetive, boring and unchallenging. Gameplay is mostly following the same pattern all over again. Quest sends you to new region. You mark a radio tower on your map as target and simply go there to reveal the map of that surrounding region in detail. Those towers use to be unprotected so its really boring stuff to do. After that is done you usually mark a position of enemy camp as target, go there, few shots with your rifle to take out some pirates. Done. Also thanks to the incedibly broken ai again no challenge even on highest difficulty. What you are left with is a fully revealed, boring region with no enemies left, nothin much to do and like 100 crates scattered around the region waiting for you to get picked up to fill your pockets. Yes and that it is pretty much it. Graphics are decent, game is pretty much free of bugs and working fine, Vaas is fun. So i can not really call it horrible. Got it for 30 Euro in Steam sale, thats O.K.. Expected it to be overated and not worth a 87% metascore before buying it, so i did not get too disappointed.

Resident Evil 62
Jan 27, 2013
In my eyes, with RE5 and 6, Capcom completely **** out their Resident Evil franchise to make money, damaging their high reputation of beeing able to deliver awesome horror/survival games. This mess called Resident Evil 6 is the logic consequence of people buying the mess that Resident Evil 5 already was. Just really makes me wonder how RE7 will look like. Imho they can either go back to horror and survival, or finally kill their franchise with an even more dumbed down action game.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown9
Jan 27, 2013
Really been waiting for this game to be released and did not get disappointed. Just have to set the expectations right towards this one. It was not meant to be a 1:1 remake of "Ufo: Enemy Unknown". Yes it got a little different, but they've made a good job on it. Gameplay is fluent. Base building, researching, training soldiers, graphics, sounds, everything pretty well done, fun to play and also having some replay value due to the different difficulties and game modes. So why not 10/10? For example cause of the way aliens are roaming and how they are getting triggered during missions. If you come in sight to discover some of them on the battlefield, the hole alien pack will always get a scripted free reaction movement allowing them to run away, take cover or do whatever. Such script makes combat feel a little less like actually fighting against aliens, but rather fighting scripts, damaging the atmosphere. Also as a dedicated player of "Ufo: Enemy Unknown" i really hoped for some more complexity in this game. Anyways this game is good and since it sold well there sure will be a second one that will most likely get even better. Hopefully also including some more complex game modes for hardcore players then.

Bad uniques, bad set items, no crafted items, no eth items, no jewels, no runes, no charms, no runewords, generally bad loot tables, smith not balanced, juwel guy not balanced, enemies not balanced, kite n run instead of hack n slay gameplay, no gameflow at all between act 1 and 2 inferno, bad balance of classes and skills, no pvp at all, steady serverproblems combined with no offline singleplay mode, chat bots, ingame bots, auctionhouse bots, exploiters that made billions and billions of gold worth ten thousands of dollars ruining the auctionhouse market. Take this list. Apply it to a game. Rate the game. Do it honest.

Feb 21, 2012
Dont waste your time with clear sky version 1.5.10, it is close to unplayable: Installed Game, patched it to 1.5.10, installed clear sky complete 2009 mod. Game refused to start. Googled for that problem. Known bug. Googled for hotfix. Downloaded and installed it. Game started finally. Played 3 hours. Game crashed. Savegames corrupted and completely destroyed by the crash. Started game once again from the start. Experienced frequent game crashes at least once per hour. Played like 20 hours. Reached yantar region. Main storyline quest bugged. Googled for that problem. Known bug, can not be fixxed. 2 current savegames again useless. Noticed that older backup savegame is 2 days old. Stopped playing game. Go to metacritic and write 03/10 review. Seriously just wait for some more patches or modifications that take care of above mentioned problems. Current clear sky version is not enjoyable.

First i felt overwhelmed by the lot of new features this game delivered. It took me a complete "learning" game session and one not too well designed city to understand all new aspects of this game. At the same time it became obvious that one of the main aspects of the game -money- completely fails its role. Once your city fulfills a few minimum requirements you will always automatically get certain contract business buildings. From that point on you will have enough money to easily expand your city to for example 200k citizens and you will just get more and more with every new zone you place on the map soon having too much money to spent. Feels close to cheating and somehow pointless and boring.

There were some very enjoyable raid encounters in this addon but overal it was far too easy and honestly wow started to get dumbed down and get boring with this addon. Took only a few days to reach max level. While leveling up the "normal" difficulties of instances already felt like pure waste of time and the "heroic" versions were very easy to finish first time playing them soon becoming absolutely obsolete. Gold had no value anymore. Any player not beeing fully equipped with epic items after like one week at max level got called noob. The complete gameplay changed to repeating boring quests in boring instances on daily base to collect for pointless item updates. Well and once you were half finished collecting your items blizzard just released a new content patch with new items, nerfed old icontent and made all your past "efforts" regarding items and achievements wortless.

I found this to be the last real good addon for Wow since it only increased the size of the game but left everything else untouched. Meaning for example general game orientation towards target groups and game balance were left the same like in classic wow. The new zones and instances were well designed und fun to play.

World of Warcraft10
Jan 1, 2012
Like mentioned by a lot of other reviews todays WoW has pretty much nothing in common with the wow released back in Nov 2004. Ill give 10/10 for the game experience that was released back in 2004 and completely agree to the other reviews that mention that wow got worse with pretty much every content patch or addon, but ill judge these addons seperately. What blizzard managed to release in 2004 was just brilliant. A gigantic world to be explored, full of adventure and challenges and all this in flawless condition pretty much free of any major bugs. It was a completely new gameplay experience, outstandingly good in every single aspect. I still remember the very first time ive met an enemy with a dragon ornament somehow displaying it beeing "special" and how i had to find a group for the very first time in this game to be able to take it down together. It was very satisfying. Leveling a champ to lvl 60 was time consuming, same like getting an epic mount was a serious decision since they were really really expensive. Or epic items... Sure there were few people just beeing lucky to get a krol blade as world drop but that one krol blade was already worth an epic mount and someone actually having 4 or 5 epic items alltogether really meant something. Getting such amount of epic items required to solve serious difficulties. Even beating certain 5 man instances took up to 2-3 hours of concentrated gamplay and taking part at raids for epics was not for everyone. It not only required 40 people but also to do certain preparations. Today theres pretty much nothing left of this anymore. There are close to no real difficulties left. items or mounts completely lost their meaning as award. The complete game is only about investing a lot of time and repeatedly doing the same things over and over again every single day until you finally collected enough of whatever you thought you "need" without having real satisfaction about anything at any point in gameplay anymore.

Problem about this game most likely only is that its standing in the huge shadow of SC1.

Best addon for the best RTS ever released for a few simple reasons. Its 3 solo campaigns are perfectly balanced from start to end, perfectly scripted, versatile, challenging and supported by an intense storyline that easily outshines other rts. Multiplayer and matchmaking was close to beeing perfectly balanced on release and just needed a few minor fixes to reach a level that allowed broodwar to be the nr.1 platform for competetive gaming in rts genre. Every single unit of the 3 races in this game has its value and it is just up to the player if he can make use of it or not. A hand full of the cheapest units can be enough to win a game even after a long game of for example an hour. This is also what seperates starcraft: broodwar from other games.

Why did this get released? How can a big company like EA let something like this happen?
There has to be someone in charge of giving the final "O.K." to release a certain product in a certain condition in a company like EA but judged by this game there simply isnt. Even then basic common sense should tell anyone that such garbage needs to get deleted instead of released.

While this basicly is a decent addon it becomes hurtfully obvious that EA is mismanaging the C&C franchise releasing such games. First of all this game has basicly nothing to do with C&C. It is just named this way for marketing purposes. And as second this addon could have been outstanding if EA would have invested more in it. But they simply didnt. It got released with horrible bugs, a horrible cheating ai and plain **** mistakes in campaigns scripts that simply should be impossible to happen. Like for example players starting base beeing set in the same corner of the map where the ai is repeatedly launching its super weapons from so the player can not defend himself against the attacks.

Now with bioshock 2 it is somehow like hearing the same joke twice in a row. It fails to deliver enough new elements to be interesting. While i would really love to tell positive things about this game since i generally really like the combination of 3d shooter with slight rpg elements i just honestly can not do so. I did not even manage to finish the game, just got bored after a while and stopped playing it. Good game as expected. Very worth to be played. There were only 2 personal minus points for me. The first one was that while portal 1 managed to suggest the feeling to be somehow lost in its world, leave predesigned tracks, "freely" explore its world within certain limits and solve puzzles in very different ways. In portal 2 i somehow felt to be kept on the very very short lead. Second was that i felt the architecture of the aperture science facilities to be out of touch with the half life universe. They tried to impress with ridiculous huge scales that do not seem to fit in anymore and damage its overal credibility.

Every single aspect of what made Half-Life 1 special was taken care of, enhanced and implemented into Half-Life 2. They kept their special way of storytelling, not interupting the gameplay much, but letting the player explore just as much of the universe as he likes to. A universe that keeps continuously growing during HL1-2, the episode addons and even Portal since it is also playing in the very same fictional Universe. Technically it is not trying too fancy stuff but manages to be beautiful and very functional at the same time.
