Tokyo Afterschool Summoners10
Nov 4, 2022
Tokyo Afterschool Summoners, or Housamo, is one of my favorite mobile games, and awardee of the rare "mobile games that are actually good" award. It has well-written characters, AMAZING art (loots of eye candy), and an actually fair and engaging gacha-style model that doesn't let you wait around or arbitrarily throttle your progress. The only downside is that the game's original language is Japanese, and some parts (especially seasonal events) are not yet fully translated. If you play on mobile or have an emulator, give this one a shot, it will be well worth your time.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery2

This game could have been a decent dive into the mobile market for the Harry Potter franchise, but is ruined by greedy devs and quite literal paywalls. The initial impression was good for a free mobile game - solid style, good sound, the character creation is limited, but at least it's there, and there is SOME hint of player choice... then it spirals downwards into the abyss of the mobile industry. Once you run out of energy (which happens quickly, you cannot even complete a single mission in one go), you have to wait AGES for it to refill, and the game literally doesn't let you do anything other than wait in the meantime. Exploring the castle, or talking with people? Ha, you wish. This game makes you stare at a three-hour countdown going down (unless you want to pay, of course). The part of the actual gameplay is mostly tapping on buttons, observing okay-ish cutscenes and dialogues, and solving minigames that are fun, but get repetitive quickly. You can buy cosmetic items for your character, but the prices are so absurd that you basically have to pay money unless you want to farm for days for a bunch of colored pixels. It's a shame, because this game had potential, but in the end it has nothing of what people expected, and everything of what makes "mobile" rightfully a curse word these days.

Myst Online: Uru Live10

This game has pretty much the best map design I've ever seen in a game, and it's completely free-to-play, what makes it even better. If you like rather slow and thoughtful puzzle games, this is the way to go!

Myst V: End of Ages10

A great game, maybe the best one of the Myst series so far. Beautiful graphics, intelligent, sophisticated puzzles and an awesome storyline. If you are an Adventure- or Puzzle-fan, this is a must-have!

A classic RPG with a lot of allusions to well-known RPGs like The Legend of Zelda, Diablo, Final Fantasy, The Elder Scrolls and more. If you know and played these games, you will have a lot of fun with this one. And even if you're not so much into nostalgia, it still leaves you with a solid RPG that has everything it needs.

One of the greatest 2D RPGs ever released! Still love playing it. Only costs 5$ on Steam, worth every penny twice! Both music and the graphic style are stunning, the story is really good and it just makes me feel nostalgic.

Spiral Knights10

Spiral Knights is a very addictive game. Basically it is nothing more than a hack-and-slay game, but it has nice nostalgic influences like Zelda. It's a classical SEGA game and I can completely recommend this for players who like old school games. "I don't play anything that has a worse graphic than Crysis"-people should just don't even think about playing it. This is a game with classic gameplay and graphics like in the late 90's. I really enjoy wasting my time with it. The only thing I could criticise is the energy you need for visiting dungeons and upgrading your equipment. It gets low very fast and without it you can't do anything. The only possibility to get it is to buy it with the ingame currency (very expensive) or with real money (but the cash shop isn't that expensive, with spending about 10$ you should go well).
