Is it great ? No. It's a game you can spend a fun afternoon on and have a fun, if limited dungeon crawler experience. For me the short length is a positive. And would you want to play it longer, there is a post-game you can actually dig deep into. (with hidden teleportation tiles apparently) In this game, you don't level up, instead you're only ever improving your equipment. This is better than it was in Moonlighter. The inventory management and consumable use isn't troublesome, it's just the greatest challenge this game has to offer. A good adventurer is a prepared adventurer. There isn't a map, but the dungeon is small and organized, so it's no trouble.

Is it discount Gundam in terms of philosophy ? No, I see where you'd get that, but I suspect the person who wrote that didn't really look too hard at the side missions. There is a great diversity of content there. I daresay the consuls you get in the main storyline are some of the worst. The combat is really good and the gameplay is what I'd expect of playing a whole party in an JRPG in real time. Graphically, it's very good, though, indeed limited by the fact it's on Swich. My biggest gripe with it is that it's easy to get overleveled and not get any more job exp, which is barely explained, if at all. You get the ability to levels down as you finish the game, but it would have been nice to have it from the start.

If the question is between this and **** Valley, take the latter, no hesitation. I bought it for the premise and I don't regret it, though it could have been cheaper. Yes you get to build the town however you like, but the graphics aren't that good and you'll probably mostly go with just wooden buildings anyways. Roofs obscure your vision a lot too, so this is limiting. I liked the dragon fights, but don't expect anything of the scenario. There is basically none. Even the characters have nothing more to say to you after some point. All in all, even more hollow than Rune Factory, but at least, cheaper.

Once you've accepted the premise that the locals are strong enough to pierce metal with wood spears, it's an okay game. Definitely challenging. The tutorial is basically the toughest part. Once you can complete a mission with the worst gear possible, you can grind to your satisfaction to make the game much easier and pretty much WALK ON the rest of it lol ! If you like having to manage a ton and pull through a tough challenge, that game will do that.

Nice little game, not much to see here. Indeed it's pretty repetitive, it only does one thing, but for the price, it's doing it perfectly adequately. The tactical levels are challenging and the normal levels can need some preparation. Yes, you're going to use auto-resolve every time you can for previous levels, so what ? It cuts the grind. It scratches an itch for specifically that kind of game. If you don't have it, don't buy it.

Do you remember these ads for mobile games where a creature of some kind digs a resource of some kind and carries a huge pile of it on its back to an objective that massively improves them ? This game is that, but actually good. It's great fun for a day or two. Someone described it as an idle game that you want to keep playing in and the banks really do just that. Yes you get infinite money idling... but you want to keep playing to get resources as well. I ran into a few major bugs and it's satisfying but not thrilling. Especially the combat, it's not this game's strong point... but conversely, all the endgame content revolves around fighting.

It's good, but not THAT good. First, as much as I love it being set on the body of a titan... It's a really hard sell when you're actually in the game. The environments you go through very often hardly look like the actual limb of the titan, whatever scale you look at. Creates dissonance that kinda pulls you out of it... For a JRPG, that is a fatal flaw.

I played those games in order and until the third is finally fan translated, this is probably the best game I have access to on the GBA. I love how they twisted random encounters into action combat. The adventure is not a great epic, but very good still. Your character is silly and the humor hits, most time. There is a weird dating sim part thrown randomly in there, but it's very anecdotic at most. They removed most of the weird quirks of the first one, so you don't have to jump all the time for instance and crafting weapons takes actual ingredients, not generic resources. Find it and play it !

It IS better than the previous installments, but in my eyes it only highlights the shortcomings of them all. The characters are swallow. Yes they have a lot of dialogue over the years, but they rarely ever surprise you with something you didn't know about them or a new personality trait. Their archetype all scream that they are someone's fetish and they do repeat themselves a lot, especially when you come talk to them everyday, like you are SUPPOSED to, to increase their opinions of you. I still feel that graphically, this game should be a lot better. Most of the game is 3D and looks like a damn PS1 game with a lot of polish. The rest is 2D, very anime style, and quite good looking... But you'll only ever see it on the character portraits and a single animated cutscene for each bachelor/ette. Each of them has two questlines you can do for them, but those don't deserve a cutscene. The combat isn't very good. It's mostly your stats against the enemies' and if you're not high level enough, you can dodge and attack all you want, your attacks do nothing. The agriculture is pointlessly overkill, it's clear most of the budget went into the backend of this system... but if you're not going to spend hundreds of hours raising giant golden vegetables, you would have been just fine with a "plant, water for X days and harvest" system, that will seem to be anyways. Rune Factory as a whole is just a tropey mess of bad combat, ugly 3D and agriculture overkill.

Well, I'm not one for platformers, especially 3D ones, so take me seriously when I say this was a delight. You are a small and weird animal that explores the forest in search of its kin and you are hindered at every turn by humanoids that put you inside some kind of ball of goo if they see you. It's wonderfully atmospheric and it's just the right amount of challenge for someone like me. I did finish it and I think I got what the story was about, but with visual storytelling, you can never really be sure. Anyways, it was a good time. Not very replayable but I'm fine with that.

Square Enix saw Rune Factory and said "I can do that, but much better" and they really did ! In my opinion, it's a farming sim with a good action combat adventure on the side, not a mid ARPG with some farming. There are a lot less characters than RF however, their personality and backstory takes more than a paragraph each, miracle ! Actually they each have a ten-step story line. And for those who say that farming is boring and repetitive, you know you can just farm minimally for a while, focus on the adventuring side until you get yourself some sprinklers, right ? It's a game, you don't have to do anything you don't want to ! Shocker ! Me ? I think farming and fishing are some of the best parts of the game. It's a little tedious at first, but you quickly get upgrades to make it about as smooth as your field size should need. I think the graphics and music are some of the best I have seen in a recent game period. Especially the water dungeon music. Also one of the few games that handled mystery well in the ones I have played.

I hate platformers. I don't find them fun and I am really bad at them... Still, this one is alright. I even enjoy trying to get all the bonuses in each level. Some are very cleverly hidden, but it never feels unfair. Every weapon has a different special attack and different artifacts serve different purposes, even though I'll admit most of them don't see much use. Also some monsters are really hard to beat without special attack so it's always a question of saving it or not in case you run into them later in the level. It's really quite strategic.

Easily one of the best games to do couch play in. The better you are as a hero, the stronger your friends become as monsters, and the better you have to be. And when you inevitably lose to your friends, it's their turn to be the hero and you can tourment them as the monsters. My main issue with the game is the boss battles. Some seem too easy, some seem impossible to even touch. The balance is questionable at best. But that is a very minor issue.

Others have elaborated enough on this and they are right on the terribleness of the singleplayer experience. What is shocking is that the DS has 2 games from the same franchise that are both great to play singleplayer, but somehow, this remaster is a lot worse than both of them. It was my occasion to test this game I had been frustrated out of when I was young and what a disappointment. And to make matters worse, the couch co-op, my favourite and basically only kind of co-op, is crippled by the need for more hardware and more copies of the game. IDK where I got the idea that the demo could be used for the guests, but it's only valid in the very first dungeon... thrilling.

Great game that does it a lot more for me than any Pokemon game ever did. I love the fusion mechanic and I especially love having the possibility of fighting strong fused monsters in the wild. The story is also super cool, the characters are actually developed and aren't all 10-15 year old kids. I do feel like you get the short end of the stick as a person, since you have to beat all the captains in a battle while you are clearly told everyone has their own trial. On that note, the battles are both strategic enough and tough enough that you mostly can't just ignorantly bruteforce them with a strong starter, like in another franchise... Also no bull about being friends with your fighting dogs, since you yourself transform into the monsters.

Huge disappointment. While the story holds up for the most part, this should basically have been an anime and not a game. The graphics are beautiful and the characters are charming, but in terms of gameplay, the under-use of the time mechanic is really holding the game back. Most later bosses are outright immune to it and some even punish you for using it against them, this soon extends to normal enemies and you're just gonna develop a strategy to deck as many damage as you can as quickly as you can, regardless of the enemy, like in every other JRPG. Couple that with 0 replayability, and you get a disappointing game. Worth watching a let's play though, it's really gorgeous.

It's really good if you consider it like an idle game for most of the game. Just when it's about to get tedious, you get access to the autopilot, which is able to make your ship computer handled, as well as the rest of your fleet. From there, you only have to intervene between levels as the computers fight it off. Knowing that the grind is pleasantly handled by the computer, you can just come back to it for real from time to time to overhaul your ships and try the highest levels you have yet reached. In that it is decent, but I feel the grind is a poor excuse **** design. While the game is fun despite it, it is mostly just there because the enemies get unreasonably stronger than the upgrades they give.

Now, what I got does hold up. It's fun to play and a real challenge, having to be both upgraded and geared enough to reach the end, but not taking too much time or the darkness will catch up to you. The story mode is easy enough and you can get all the endings but two just by getting all the different partners at the end of a run. The partners are quirky and cute, but you won't see much of them. The more endings you get, the more you realize just how dystopian the world is and I found that quite enjoyable. If you thought the game was too easy, there is also a challenge mode.

They aren't even armored, but the only part that can get damaged is the head and you can't even aim in peace as they also fire toward you. Despite the 3D graphics, this is very much a text-based adventure. If you’re looking for action or skill-based gameplay, give it a pass. I don’t even think there’s a real risk of failing. The story, however, is great—the lore is very well-crafted, and the final choice is significant, even though it essentially explains the consequences beforehand without fully showing the results. It feels very much like a theater play: everything unfolds in a single room over the course of one day—a style I thought was a lost art. Note that none of the characters are designed to evoke empathy; they’re robots, and they behave like it. If you’re seeking a human-centric story, this isn’t the game for you. It’s more of a philosophical allegory. While it’s short and has limited replayability, it’s still worth it for the price.

While a decent fighting game, I have to say I'm disappointed they didn't put back the adventure mode from the previous installment. I gave it such a bad review because it is very much not beginner friendly, something I would expect from a Nintendo game. There's really nothing teaching you how to use characters and/or polish your skill with any of them. Just drop into fights and try to survive. Some kind of dojo would have been nice.
