The Piano10
Nov 9, 2018
Jane Campion's The Piano feels like a adaption from a novel (itsn't) and it's very sensual in a singular way. The story could have been simple, but in Jane Campion's hands it transforms into a interessing tale about a woman's desires and passions. The setting is really unique, the visuals beautiful and subtle and the cast it's perfect.

The Grandmaster6
Nov 9, 2018
Visually remarkable, 'The Grandmaster' it's full of great action scenes and characters but sometimes it's a little too dragging and melodramatic.

Strangers on a Train8
Nov 9, 2018
A very solid and intriguing suspense, 'Strangers on a Train' it's one of Hitchcock's best and certainly will give you nightmares about merry-go-rounds.

Saboteur6

The suspense is good and had me on the edge of my seat, but the continuous monologues that exposes what message Hitchcock meant with the film are not subtle and made me suspend disbelief for a lot of times.

Mary and The Witch's Flower6

It seens like a Ghibli movie, but don't feel like one. I know we are talking about a different studio, but if Ponoc was decided to go with a Ghibli approach and feeling in it's debut it should at least have the same charm and heartfelt feeling. I must say it's a good start, but Ponoc have a long track to trail.

Phantom Thread10
Nov 8, 2018
It's easy for me to call it a perfect movie. It's really well crafted, beautifily written and the setting adds a charm that I love about period pieces and classic movies. The Hitchcock's inspiration it's undeniable and the romantic and yet haunting story really could've been a theme from one of his movies.

The Beguiled5

Oh, I had great expectations for this one. The beautiful setting, gothic atmosphere and great cast was not enough for me to like Coppola's drama. I just felt numb.

The Wind Rises10
Nov 8, 2018
Mixing a real life events with some fantasy, Miyazaki delivers once again a masterpiece with 'The Wind Rises'. The movie it's not only about life itself, but also about dreams, their consequences and struggles.

'Belle' it's beautiful and entertaining. It brings a very nice story to period drama fans, but nothing else.

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi9
Nov 8, 2018
'The Last Jedi' was a great movie. I really don't care what the fans say, this movie was a masterpiece and one of the my favorites from the franchise. It not only have great visuals, but also a entertaining story, action and a special and memorable performance by Laura Dern (her moments with Carrie Fisher are priceless). Mark Hamill it's also better than ever.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens6
Nov 8, 2018
It's good to have Star Wars back on the big screens and with the modern technology that makes the visuals even more beautiful. The story does not appeal to me so much, but it's a good starter with great antagonists and interessing protagonists (Finn and Poe chemistry it's great to watch).

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story7
Nov 8, 2018
'Rogue One' it's a entertaining film and a love letter to the original Star Wars trilogy. The caracthers are really good and the visuals are one of the best from the Star Wars films. (The last scene it's iconic and one of my favorites from the franchise.)

Paddington 28
Nov 8, 2018
In the same level as the first movie, 'Paddington 2' still brings the cozy, heart-warming and homey feeling we all had when watched the first part. It's good to have Paddington with us once again.

The Shape of Water8
Nov 8, 2018
'The Shape of Water' it's a beautiful fairytale released in dark times, even if in it's setting period times were dark as well. I love how Del Toro transforms the so called monster in creatures with feelings, just like us, and in this film he not only humanizes a monster but also empower real life "monsters" that were persecued not only in old times but still struggle with death, violence and isolation just because of how they were born.

Lady Bird8
Nov 8, 2018
Greta Gerwig's solo directorial debut it's a joy and understands the subject it's showing us on the screen. It's a very enjoyable coming of age, respectful not only to the protagonist but also to the other caracthers surrounding her, not making them seen one thing or another, but just humans. The 2000s setting it's refreshing.

Coco8
Nov 8, 2018
An emotional, cultural interesting and entertaining film by Pixar and perhaps one of their best. It's full of joy and pain at the same time and it's also a celebration of life, death and memory.

Murder on the Orient Express3

A great cast and beautiful setting wasted with an uninspired screenplay and direction.

Shrek8

Thank goodness we have Shrek. It's a very entertaining film, funny and spot on in all satires with the fairytales and Disney's trops.

Paddington8
Nov 8, 2018
A very plesant surprise, Paddington it's a kind of movie we all miss. It's really easy to connect to the struggles and outsider feelings from a silly and sweet bear who have doesn't have anyone in his life anymore and have to relie on strange people's kindness. Besides all the jokes and heartfelt moments it's easy to see an immigrant tale in Paddignton story and a social commentary in times when immigrants are treated with prejudice and no respect.

Wreck-It Ralph5

A nice and creative movie that don't add too much the Disney animated canon, but it's entertaining.

Suspicion5
Nov 8, 2018
I love Hitchcock films, but this one must be one of my least favorite from him. The story does not appealed to me at all and don't seen to progress, even so Joan Fontaine's character it's really interesting and my favorite thing from this film.

Audition4
Nov 8, 2018
Loved how it ends, the "kiri kiri kiri" scene it's iconic and I'll never forget how sadistic and briliant it was. But, besides that the slow burn approach did not appealed to me, I really wished I liked it more.

I had mixed feelings about how the story in the final acts focus only in the romantic aspect of Saiorse's caracther. But overall it's an enjoyable period piece with beautiful setting and great cast.
