DO NOT BUY THIS. this so-called "HD remake" is godawful. I didnt expect this game to rock my world, graphically, but I at least expected it to run smoothely. 60 frames per second seemed like a no brainier, but instead we get sub 30fps. im not joking. the framerate is terrible. I also did not expect there to be such RAMPANT pop in textures and objects and unacceptable jaggies. literally, the grass ten feet in front of you, constantly pops in. every waking second of the game is filled with horrible pop-in all over your screen. was ANY effort put into making this version look better than the original? at least with the horrible port of crysis 3, the devs had somewhat of an excuse for stability issues on consoles, but there is NO REASON WHATSOEVER that this TEN YEAR OLD game should be making my PS3 practically melt. oh, and gameplay wise the controls feel sluggish, with terrible deadzones. glitches, both gameplay and visual wise are rampant as well. this is, without a doubt, the worst "remaster" I have ever seen of an old game. no effort was put into it. no ****s were given. it suddenly makes sense why this game was so quickly announced and shoved onto PSN and xbox live. stay way. just download the original on PC. it will probably bec heaper and i promise that no matter how ghetto and outdated your rig is, it will decimate this abysmal port.

it is a truly unique experience that every gamer deserves to experience (even the critics too shallow and narrow minded to accept or comprehend it). dont listen to the haters of this game. there are many people who have this pretentious bias against ambitious cinematic, story centric games like this and also have a strong disdain for david cage. these conspiratorial individuals think he is trying to erase all genres of gaming and will turn every game in existence into an interactive movie. if you are not one of these people, and you are not going into this game with the sole intention of hating it, you will not only like this game, but love it. their claims that it is "a movie with no gameplay" are beyond ridiculous. there is more gameplay here than there was in heavy rain or the walking dead. Its graphics and presentation are the best the PS3 has to offer, bar none. even naughty dog's masterpeice "the last of us" isnt quite as polished in animations and visuals. the story is well paced, the characters well written, and the acting top notch. the game accomplishes what it sets out to do. no you wont be chopping off heads or shooting aliens. this is a rare genre and this game is the best it has to offer. try it for yourself.

Halo: Reach

honestly, I found this game to be very underwhelming and rather disappointing. And if it weren't for ODST I would say its the worst halo game. I found the campaign to be mundane, phoned in, and mediocre at best. It is lacking in presentation. for example, compare the invasion scene in halo reach to the San Fransisco invasion scene in resistance 2. resistance 2 delivers one of the most epic and jaw dropping scenes I have seen in a game and insomniac has a mere percentage of the funding behind them as bungie. for a game that capitalizes on a planetary invasion, you dont really get alot of epic encounters built around that theme in halo reach. in fact, you dont get very many epic encounters at all. most of the battles are relatively small scaled and they offer little intensity or a true warlike atmosphere. The story is terrible. I can accept that. but the problem is that it is terrible in a boring way. It seems like the voice actors and writers arent even attempting to make it entertaining or interesting. There are plotholes everywhere in this game. I dont usually bring up that sort of thing, but they are so pervasive in this game, especially surrounding the deaths of main characters. I read the book "fall of reach" and it actually fleshed out the universe of "halo" and made master chief a more interesting character. It also showed the spartans, earlier in their training program, going on missions against human insurgents and pirates. that would have been an interesting thing to see in the game. but halo reach doesn't take any chances and it doesn't offer anything as a prequel. the gunplay mechanics, in my eyes, are unforgivably primitive, especially for a big budget current gen title. There is no reason why halo games shouldn't incorporate ironsights by now. I dont think there is any other FPS franchise that could still get away with such a thing and be well received in the reviewing community. The gunplay overall has very little kickback or power behind it. the only weapon I found to have even a semblance of impact was the pistol. perhaps bungie was afraid to make significant changes to the gunplay because given the fact that this is a prequel, it would affect the continuity of the series. but I think that is really just a weak excuse. No matter what features they add to the multiplayer, it doesnt cover up the sub-par mechanics and gunplay, which are truly the core aspects of an FPS game. overall, halo reach isnt the worst FPS game out there, but I would definitely say its not a "great" game. if I were to judge it by the campaign alone, I would give it a 7/10. however, I think that due to the competent multiplayer (where clearly most of the effort has gone) I can give it an extra star, bringing it to an 8/10. honestly though I couldnt imagine giving it anything higher. Halo Reach's campaign doesn't live up the standards set by the first 2 entries in the series or even the third. Halo should be blazing ahead and creating campaigns that are a cut above the standard, but instead they are trailing **** behind game franchises like Killzone, Crysis, and Resistance to name a few. Hell, even Call of Duty, despite its stagnation, still has a far more sophisticated engine, more dynamic campaigns, and far better gunplay than any of the current gen halo games. its a shame this game has received so much undeserved praise. people are just so excited to have a game with "halo" in the name, that they dont stop to critically analyze it. I didnt go into this game wanting to hate it. as I said, I read the halo books. I was the biggest halo fan out there. at least up the halo 3. I honestly found this game lacking in every single aspect that matters to me in an FPS. If you havent experienced many FPS games this gen, than you may enjoy this. I know these games appeal to the more casual FPS crowd. However, objectively and in comparison to what is on the market right now, this game is not a contender, despite what some people will tell you.

Killzone 3: From the Ashes Map Pack

if you own KZ3, this map pack is an imperative. It contains 4 maps and it costs a mere 5$. that is $1.25 per map. that kind of deal cant be beat. 2 of the maps are from KZ2, including the fan favorite "radec academy." It has had great level design improvements to eliminate the cluster****s that generally occurred around the spawn points in KZ2's version. the "lente missile base" is an utterly breathtaking map. possibly one of the most beautiful I have ever seen in an FPS game. it blends practically every artistic element of the series and intertwines it with intricate level design. ever since the beginning fans have been asking for a "mobile factory" map. this one hasnt dissapointed. it is similar to the "akmir snowdrift" in many ways. it is already one of my personal favorite maps in the game. this map pack is sure to please all. if you own killzone 3, you owe it to yourself to buy this map pack.

forget all the reviews you have read about this game that gave it below a 9/10. forget all the biased nitpicking and downright prejudice that has been directed at this game. this game is an FPS that is surpassed by none. Where do I even begin with this game. I will say, right off the bat, that there is not a single significant flaw in this game. I cannot, by any stretch of the imagination, find an issue within this game that is worth mention. this is a purely positive review, not because I have forgotten or neglected the issues, but because there really are none worth focusing on. I will just leave you with 10 things about this game that make it one of the most fantastic FPS games this gen and a game that is definitely worth your time. 1) the controls. At first I was skeptical about them changing the controls to a more COD like fluidity. I liked the weighty, realistic feel of KZ2. However, these controls do make the game alot more fast paced. Thankfully the realism isnt entirely lost. It has a perfect balance. 2) the visual and cinematic presentation of the campaign. Killzone 2's campaign was a masterpiece. it brought you to amazing locations, had great atmosphere, lots of action, lots of things going on around you, good pacing, lots of grit, weather effects, and a breathtakingly massive scale. KZ3 manages to improve upon it, making it the most visually impressive game so far this gen. it combines diverse locations, lavishing level design, massive scale, harsh environments, and everything that was amazing about the previous installment. With the 3d aspect added to the mix, this game blows everything out of the water. I guarantee that it will stun you. 3) The enemy AI. The helghast in this game are very tactical and presents a very authentic, challenging aspect to the game. 4) the campaign story. Forget all the negative nonsense you have heard about it. The story is well paced and has some memorable, well acted villains. Stahl, played by the legendary Malcolm McDowell, is probably the best new villain I have seen in a game the gen. Every second he is on screen is an immense pleasure. Rico and Sev, characters that many people seem to dislike, have really come into their own and they are really fleshed out in this game. they are pretty likable. The story isn't deeply moving by any means, but it is presented well, paced well, well acted, original, filled with numerous twists, filled with memorable scenes, and it is enjoyable to sit through. It works more as a political/war drama than a character study and it is effective in its job. 5) the "kill moves." The brutal melee attacks in this game not only add a very cool, visceral feel to the campaign; they also allow for some very satisfying kills in the online multiplayer. It is alot more fair, in my opinion, for melee attacks to kill in 1 hit, and I also think its fair that you can't just whip out your knife and make a kill-stab in a matter of a second (yes im referring to you, COD). You are able to kill in one hit, but you must remember that you leave yourself open. I think that this is how all melee should generally be handled in FPS games. 6) If you recall, the music in KZ2 was brilliant. once again, the score is superb. definitely one of the best this gen. 7) the destructible environments are even more detailed and dynamic than they were in the last entry. 8) the online multiplayer. it takes everything that people liked about KZ2's multiplayer and builds upon it. The "operations" missions are something that we havent seen before. there really isnt anything else like them. The leveling system has also been improved, the class system is more balanced, the level design is more intricate, and there are tons of other little improvements here and there. 9) the campaignâ
