Wolfenstein: The New Order

I've been a long time Wolfenstein fan. I played Wolfenstein 3D for the first time when I was younger, and it was on one of those ridiculous shareware demo discs alongside the beloved Doom! Ever since, I've kept a close eye on the franchise and enjoyed every iteration, including the recent 2009 game that has sadly vanished without a trace for potential buyers. However, this new entry makes up for that with flying colors! Wolfenstein: The New Order is, without a doubt, one of the most fun shooters of all time and possibly one of the best shooters ever made. Love, passion, and polish have been put into this game, and I have a lot to talk about. But let me try to make this as brief as possible, so you can get the best review possible! The gameplay, which is exceptionally fun, allows for a great deal of freedom. Stealth, tactics, or assault. Gameplay can flow between any of these three at any moment. Although the level designs consist of corridors or big open atriums, they still allow for a lot of freedom in how you want to approach a situation. Within these levels, you can find any number of hidden goodies to find, such as collectible gold or special codes that unlock additional game modes. You also will find plenty of useful items hidden in fun locations. Although there is some level of linearity, the game still has alternate paths you can take, even if not all the time. As you gun down waves of **** using some of the best gunplay I've ever heard or witnessed, the gun toting hero will unlock "perks" which provide passive bonuses in 4 perk trees. Although it isn't as robust or plentiful as, let's say, the perks in Fallout games, it is still a rather welcome modern addition and doesn't detract from the game. The game also gives ample reason to replay it, and not just for the collectibles, as their are two alternate "timelines" which bump up the game to 20 hours of playtime! A major two way choice at the beginning of the game will actually CHANGE a few things about the game, including the characters you meet and what major area traversal skill you have. For example, lockpicking or hotwiring. Now, the final aspects of the game are the story, setting, writing, graphics, sound, and characters. All of it is actually really surprising. The world is full of creative vision, texture, and flavor (the graphics are pretty nice, but rely heavily on effects). White concrete buildings with red **** banners proudly flapping in the wind, a group of prisoners being bullied by **** scum, and other things help to add to the world. The characters and story is shockingly good too. But before you criticize it, keep in mind that this in context with what kind of crazy game Wolfenstein is. The game has the best story it could possibly have in its current form! The voiceovers are brilliant, the cutscenes are seamless and cinematic. The characters feel very human and world weary, showing the horrors of **** rule! Wolfenstein: The New Order is a qaulity shooter. It has some snags, of course, keeping it from its momentum towards success. Graphics problems, people having trouble running the game, mouse sensitivity issues in the menus/journal, and a few minor bugs. The game, also, can be repetitive or too linear, but that is a matter of subjective perspective. I can safely say, with all of that said, that this is one of the best shooters at least for the year 2014. It's excessively fun, balls to the wall, and very playable. It has soul that so many shooters are lacking lately, and it will fill in that gap in your soul as well if you are a fan of shooters! Get this game, you will not regret it, shooter fans OR Wolfenstein fans!

Titanfall

Titanfall is exactly as advertised, especially when based on the gameplay trailers, but most likely overhyped to death. It feels quite similiar to Call of Duty, but somehow it felt different at the same time. It's something a fan of first person shooters can tell, even if it isn't readily apparent to others. Things such as gunplay, sense of recoil, first person animations, and first person camera movement can alter how a shooter "feels" to some gamers. Is it a bad thing that Titanfall is similiar to Call of Duty? That depends on your perspective on shooters or games where multiplayer is the selling point! Titanfall's strengths lie in a few key areas. Which I'll try to summarize here: The Titans, of course, are the most obvious selling point, and are pretty much as awesome as advertised. We get at least fifteen maps in the base game, and each one takes advantage of both pilot movement and Titan combat. The pilot, which you play as, has excellent and extremely entertaining parkour or jump jet movement. This is all tied together with extremely fast paced, snappy combat that somehow manages to outdo Call of Duty's fast paced combat! Overall, it's super fun, and very competitive without the pain (as the game makes you feel good even if you aren't "doing well" at the game). The weaknesses of Titanfall: Depending on how you view repetition, Titanfall can be repetitive, as gameplay ends up falling into a cycle or a pattern. Matters are confounded by the lack of truly unique or new game modes besides the usual material, such as TDM, CTF, and a conquest style game mode. The PC version is wonky for a few gamers too, with the performance for myself ranging from smooth to suddenly bad, and other fairly minor issues (because it is a nicely designed PC game). Do these flaws hurt the game? Maybe. But they don't do that much to fatally wound the game! The progression system: We get a nice number of goodies to unlock in the normal progression format. It's fun and addictive, with a very extensively large "challenge" system which act as mini achievements that give you tangible rewards (you unlock weapons, "perks", and weapon attachments). I just wish there was way more to unlock, especially for the pilot weapons and Titan weapons. There isn't nearly enough unlockables at the moment, but that might be a strength to the game, as gameplay matters more than dangling carrots in front of our faces! The unusual aspects of this game: Titanfall has "Burn Cards", which act as a one round long buff to your pilot's abilities. You can unlock these burn cards by playing the game, but you have to be careful once you use them, because dying will immediately erase your Burn Card effect! But that isn't the only unusual thing about Titanfall. To some degree, this game is like League of Legends, Smite, or DOTA 2. All allied or enemy AI bots are often referred to as "minions", and actually attempt to take objectives which is very cool. They give much less experience points or objective points (in TDM) than actual players, but they offer a very good way to distract enemy players so you can go in for the kill! Also, at the end of every round, you chase after the retreating and remaining enemy players, and you get to bust up their only method of escape (but they can escape, earning bonus points)! All these things feel somewhat unusual, and are welcome changes to the usual FPS formula. Alright. Titanfall, when viewed in comparison with multiplayer shooters that have been coming out recently, is a great game. Is it revolutionary? No, I highly doubt it. But it gives us a great science fiction setting with nice music, audio, action, and visuals. It's definitely more "involved" than most shooters I played lately that had the main character having a useless "jump" button. I highly reccomend it for fans of multiplayer shooters! Everyone else, consider this game carefully before buying it.

Diablo III

Alright, it's time to redo my poor review of this game from a few years ago! Alright, Diablo 3 upon launch was a highly controversial game, probablly more so than others. The auction house, always online connection, and numerous changes to the classic formula caused a massive uproar. Even to this day, the uproar is scary and still apparent, with none of the reviews being revised or changed, with many accounts on here clearly made just to give this game an absurd 0 through 2 rating. I hardly consider Diablo 3 to be as bad as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde on Nintendo or E.T. for the Atari. Tons of games back then had bugs or glitches that were never fixed for obvious reasons, and the huge deluge of players simply was too much for Blizzard's servers to handle when it comes to Diablo 3. It's been a couple of years now, it's time to stop hating on this game, everybody. Whether you love it or hate it, Diablo 3's greatest strength is the fluent, visceral gameplay. Ragdoll physics enable enemies to be brutally butchered in a myriad of ways, with tons of gore and fluent attacks/abilities that chain together seemlessly unlike Torchlight 1, Torchlight 2, or Path of Exile which feel stiff or awkward. Diablo 3's excellent action is accentuated by an awesome, in depth ability system, with room for customization for each ability thanks to "Runes". I find it rather laughable when people constantly whine about "wanting to choose a spec" when they technically can do that now anyway with said abilities or runes. You see, there is a reason for why the ability bar is restricted, and this is to make it more tactical. If given too much freedom (which you can have by turning on the ability to customize the action bar completely), almost every player would choose only the most damaging or "best" abilities. Is this really "fun" to you? If you play online, is it really cool or fun to see everybody using the same god damn abilities over and over again? While I am on the subject, there is also no reason for there to be a skill "tree" anymore because it can condensed, visually, into something like Diablo 3's current ability system. In many ways, it has the same damn depth as a skill tree, with a lot of room to change. You don't have to change anyway, you can keep your skills as they are now, but having the option to respec is always nice! Also, while I am at it, there is no point to stat points anymore. Each class benefits from EVERY stat now, with Strength giving more armor, Agility adding dodge chance, Intelligence adding elemental resistance (very valuable), and Stamina always important as it adds Health. So, the only real issue is having the classes get more damage output from one stat and one stat only. This is a real problem that hurts the game, but not fatally like all the negative reviews think. The auction house, well, is about to get removed permanently. Now listen carefully: SOME PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE AH BEING REMOVED. Are you people never pleased?! Seriously, what is going on here? People were complaining about auction house woes one second, and now suddenly people are crying about it being removed soon! Gosh darn it! What I think about the auction house is that in concept, it was a good idea. But, the classic Diablo 2 spirit lies in players trading items to eachother in person, rather than anonymously buying stuff on an auction house. It's a controversial feature that is getting removed pretty soon, which will improve the desire to get good loot from drops alone! The always online connection. Well, if you have an Internet connection to complain about how Diablo 3 **** so bad for so long, then why complain about the always online connection? The game was meant to be played with friends or other people. Are you so anti social that you always want to play on your own? Which is the reason to have offline play anyway. But, I don't see why this is a huge problem. I am trying to think long and hard about it... but the only thing I can think of is the always online connection causing game lag and rubberbanding when going solo or playing with others. Which has MOSTLY been fixed, at least for now. As I've said, if you have an online connection very often and rarely get disconnected, then there is no reason to complain about an always online connection. You are able to connect often anyway! The story. The story in Diablo 3 is CLASSIC Blizzard Entertainment stuff. I do not see how or why it is any different than Diablo 2 or 1. We had cackling villains with loud speeches in THOSE GAMES as well, so what's so bad about the new bad guys? The only reason I hate the story in Diablo 3 is that the villains NEVER GIVE UP, but that's because they are arrogant demons! They do not know defeat! The voice acting is excellent on the main characters as well, and the male Barbarian is just a BADASS overall. So, really, what's the problem? The visual style. Um, who cares? Moving on! Anyway, that's all I have to say about Diablo 3.

I am finally over this game, in more ways than one, and going to improve my terrible review of it (from a couple of years ago). I wouldn't exactly call it the worst game ever, but it certainly suffers from awkward controls, graphics that remind me of FEAR 1 or Doom 3 at times (which are visuals I DO LIKE and still hold up, but DNF is a RECENT GAME), and annoyingly invasive health regeneration mechanics. I think they added an update that removed the 2 weapon carry limit, but I am not sure. I am not exactly a pro reviewer here! But, I digress. DNF suffers from being too disgustingly vulgar, if that is even possible. With classic Duke Nukem 3D, it was charming. Mostly because it didn't go too damn far, and it made Duke Nukem look like an action movie badass! In DNF, however, he cusses up a storm (I don't remember him cussing that much before), obsesses over sex more than usual, and says really terrible jokes. However, the best joke so far is "It's time to quit forking around!" which he says while, well, riding a forklift. I got a good laugh outta that! Sadly, the whole game is oppressively linear, which is no joke. There is "good lnear", and then there is oppressively linear. This game is the latter! The biggest strength in this game are the somewhat varied locales. We have a burger joint, a desert wild west style town, driving a rc car while shrunken, and plenty of other fun places or scenarios. It does scream nostalgia, and I am glad for that! Because I do like nostalgia, despite being someone who looks towards the future of games, rather than the past. Also, it is fun to shoot aliens, because all the weapons are fun to use, and pretty awesome as they should be. The aliens are all the classic baddies we know and love! But, that's about it. I look back at this game as a funny time in my life. Did I really actually like it? Yes, I kinda did, because I felt Duke Nukem did come back, even if it was a step backwards. A BIG step backwards. But hey, now it's a cheap bargain title, it might be okay to play now, just to see if it really is as bad or good as some people think!

I do agree with Bioshock: Infinite being somewhat overrated, but that doesn't stop me from loving this game. After about a year, I am ready for my review on here. I will try to keep it shorter, for everybody's sake! Bioshock takes place in an insanely beautiful place. Columbia, the city in the clouds! As a PC gamer, the numerous visual options blew me away, and I had fun fiddling with them. When applied, the game's setting, powered by DirectX11/Uneal Engine, is ludicrously hypnotic in its beauty. I will often find myself walking around just to marvel at the detail and explore. Because, you do have free reign to explore plenty of times! With hidden items, secret areas, and meaningful collectables waiting to reward you for exploring. The story definitely takes you on a ride, with great gunplay, powers, and upgrades to help you along this game, which is awesomely similiar to a RPG without going too far into RPG territory. I admit, the game can be a bit annoying at times, especially the Handyman enemies, and some of them can soak up bullets like no tomorrow! The places where you fight said enemies tend to be a bit linear at times, but I always felt that because a game is linear doesn't mean it's bad. Bioshock: Infinite does manage to have side quests or hidden goodies to make exploration of these somewhat linear areas meaningful! I'll take that over something like Battlefield 3's campaign, which was linear but didn't have meaningful exploration! Bioshock: Infinite is amazing, but it isn't perfect. It's truly above average, at least to me, and this is one epic story you will not want to miss!

I cannot deny my love for this game, and it's been a long time coming for a review. Also, I am not being paid to do favorable reviews FOR ANY GAME. That is the most garbage, disgustingly cynical, and annoying thing any gamer would think about other people. It's strange too, because Dishonored is exactly what cynical gamers wanted, but apparently even that is not good enough, so let them drown in their own sea of irony they created themselves by crying about how games are awful now compared to retro or older games. Moronic retro hippies, gosh darn it! I bet if this was a sidescroller pixel game, they'd think it was amazing. Idiots. Alright, now I got that off of my chest, let's talk Dishonored. I had this game for awhile already, but it earns some of my highest accolades for being the only stealth game I enjoy immensely. I don't like stealth games, for the most part, but this somehow reeled me in. First, I was immediately drawn in by the beautifully rendered setting. A dark sort of steampunk setting where instead of steam as a powersource, it's whale oil. Within this setting, you have absolute freedom to choose where you want to go, and when. There are hidden items everywhere in these places, and loot lovers like me eat that right up! However, it is mostly in a controlled, smaller environment that never feels too linear. Each mission within these areas can be completed in any way you want as you have so many awesome abilities, equipment, and accessories to help you with them. The combat is annoying and honestly far too difficult, even with my favorite spell, Slow Time, but you have that choice! I just hope you find a better way to deal with foes if you want to go on a murder spree. Otherwise, prepare for annoying cheapshots every second during combat! Also, your choices do matter in these environments. It makes you think hard about killing, and whether or not it is the right thing to do. You can change the course of the game by these decisions, with some choices causing more of the zombies called "Weepers" to appear in later areas, or security to greatly tighten in other areas. Each area, by the way, being a mission. But even then, you can take a break from the tough decision making and go on plenty of side missions, which is an awesome bonus! You can even spend your hard earned money on upgrades, which is also great as well. I am a fan of that kind of game mechanic! Anyways, Dishonored, as well as all of its DLC, is amazing. If you don't like it, then so be it. Just be careful, because Corvo might be in the dark, waiting to punish the haters.

Alien Rage is a surprisingly fun arcade shooter that will really test your reflexes and skills. It's hampered by more than a few problems, especially at launch, but they are mostly fixed by now. It feels like a good mix of old sensibilities with the new, but even that is hampered by the damn annoying health regeneration or no armor. Now, look, I see why health regen is a go to game element, game developers. You want the players to keep on moving without stopping for health items to keep the action going, but even that is rectified by having health items YOU CARRY ON YOU like in FEAR 1 and FEAR 2! Which are games I love. To confound matters further, it feels insanely silly that Alien Rage kept telling me where to go despite the areas being so straightfoward and linear. I don't HATE linear games, by the way, but here it just seems laughable when there is an objective marker! Go here, press a button, move on, and repeat. That is what the areas are kind of like in this game driven by a not that amazing story, despite the badass space marine action. However, I still cannot deny that I enjoyed this fairly visually stunning game, even when blinded by the excessive visual effects! The addictive scoring system really aids in the fun as well, and we even have perks to power up with. A decent game, let it pass.

I am not sure what to say. Perhaps first of all, AMD users need to get the 13.11 Beta drivers (for now), especially the most recent one, which fixed the crashing problems. The same could be said for NVIDIA users perhaps. I haven't crashed for quite a few multiplayer matches, which is rather good! Now onto the review! We live in a time where there is great cynicism and hate towards shooters, especially military style shooters such as this. I'm just a person on the sidelines who doesn't care and tries to enjoy video games for what they are, rather than dwelling on what was made in the past. I loved Battlefield since the beginning, but times change, and perhaps for the worse for some people, but for the better for others. Who is to say what's right or not anymore? It's all up to all of you to decide for yourselves if you like a game or not, and if you are mad that your money didn't go to something functional or to your liking, then I understand. I personally would blame EA, if blame is really neccesary in this situation. EA clearly wants to compete against the Call of Duty franchise creators, Infinity Ward, and DICE was under heavy pressure to do certain things or rush a product out. It can't be any coincidence that Call of Duty Ghosts released so near the release date of Battlefield 4. DICE CARES about their games and feedback, because they are working on a patch right now to fix client side crashing and game instability. They already FIXED the server crashing problems, at least from what I can tell. Now, the singleplayer. In all honesty, the singleplayer is a fairly big improvement over Battlefield 3's dismal and minimalistic campaign. We can all agree Battlefield 3's campaign, even if it had its moments, was quite lacking. For Battlefield 4, however, we have a few epic moments, with some emotional bits here and there, with generally good voice acting. The combat is rewarding with a new multiplayer style scoring system with leaderboards, and enemies seem to react to your fire especially when you use the "Engage" ability which is a nice touch that makes it feel a tiny bit more tactical. When you use it, the allies that follow you all throughout the game will immediately focus their fire on one or more targets. Said allies are actually not spouting military jargon all the time, and instead are quite a bit more human in their conversations or banter. It's shocking that this would happen in a Battlefield campaign, I know, but I liked "Irish" the most, who has a voice actor that puts on a GREAT performance. The singleplayer has some good bits to it, including collectable/unlockable weapons you can equip/unequip at Bad Company 2 style weapon lockers. There are, shockingly enough, moments where you can either choose stealth or to go in gun's blazing. Overall, it's honestly not THAT bad and hardly that painful, and I reccomend it for shooter fans. I know I'm a shooter fan, regardless of if it is a military shooter or not! We even get fairly big, non linear combat areas at times where you can choose how to approach a combat situation. Sadly, the singleplayer is weighed down by AI that seems to work, but then falls apart at other times. Even on hard mode, the campaign is too darn easy, and I found myself only dying because the damage enemies do is increased. The game is also hurt by the usual military shooter tropes, such as healthregeneration, and lack of meaningful area exploration. The story, oh man, isn't anything to write home about, but at least the presentation is there! In conclusion, the singleplayer isn't terrible at all. I have no clue what anyone is talking about anymore... even the critics. I mean, we GET some things that make it so much better anyway such as a scoring system and collectable/unlockable weapons with a few open areas like Bad Company 2's campaign. Really how else could they of made it? Like FarCry 3?! There are only so many ways you can make a military shooter campaign, really now! As for the multiplayer. Oh boy. Disregard the crashing or server problems, because THOSE WILL BE FIXED... it is an absolutely addictive, complete, and epic experience. In terms of audio and visual qaulity, it's stunning. In terms of immersion and gunplay, it's stunning. In terms of epic situations, that quite frankly, only happen in Battlefield 4, it's stunning! We get 10 maps, which is a juicy amount, with each supporting quite a few game modes. Some of the game modes are a bit flawed, but for the most part, I have a great time on them, and all of them are beautiful! Except Operation Locker, that map is awful, which I'd call the new "Metro" map! There really isn't much else to say. We have new "Battlepacks", which make ranking up even more rewarding and fun, and tons of accesories, upgrades, and whatnot for EVERYTHING. Even vehicles have camos now you can customize! To summarize for the TL;DR crowd. Battlefield 4 has a modestly okay campaign, with an even more complete multiplayer! Not a bad game.

Quite honestly one of the best shooters to come out this generation, which is something coming from the mouth of a fan of Battlefield 3 or other "good" military shooters. Because, hey, Shadow Warrior has AIMING DOWN THE SIGHT mechanics for those who prefer precision shooting (which is a mechanic I love as well, but I mix it up in Shadow Warrior with the sword and firing like some sort of insane Rambo). So don't despair, Call of Duty fans! But, I cannot deny my love affair with nostalgic shooters that I played when I was a kid, including the recent Shadow Warrior Classic Redux that I made sure to finish before buying this amazing game! However, we can't forget about Doom or Duke Nukem 3D either! Shadow Warrior does EVERYTHING right, regardless of the supposed "level design" issues despite said levels being beautiful and wonderfully varied. Here is why the game is good before I go off on further tangents: Insane levels of depth with weapon upgrades, skills, and powers, with each requiring their own resource to upgrade that you can find in the world. Insane value, as the game is lengthy as Lo Wang's um, wang, with about 17 levels/chapters. Explosive, bloody, and gorey combat that is too much fun whether or not you prefer using magic, sword, or other weapons like the PDW (SMG) which is my favorite weapon! Fantastic humor, with Lo Wang's classic one liners and quotable quotes. Insanely good visuals. Numerous visual options to help balance beauty and performance, including the extremely underused TRIPLE BUFFERING option. Field of view slider included for even the most discerning first person shooter fan! Secret areas. Did you think they would leave out fun to find secret areas, that are actually TOUGH to find? Well, think again! Now, that is my review of Shadow Warrior. Is this game perfect? NO, but it is as close to perfection that we will get in a shooter these days!

A juicy and solid shooter with a lovely, dystopian science fiction setting. A gun lover's paradise packed with ludicrously sexy, fun weapons and great firefights. The interaction with cover adds to the immersion during these firefights! You have to use your brain a bit more in this game because enemies WILL try to flank you at every turn, but you have upgrades you can get in a fun system that is similiar to the classic talent tree to level the playing field along with the DART Overlay (which is like bullet time and allows you to see through cover). Now, for the flaws: Hacking ("Breaching") seems more **** and is not used nearly enough it seems. Also, the much maligned health regeneration is back in spades, but it makes sense considering the sci-fi setting. The areas tend to be corridors and shooting galleries which confounds matters further, but at least there seems to be a variety of them. I reccomend this game, for fans of shooters and guns. Because really, if you enjoy that rush you get when you aim down the sight and hear bullet casings hitting the floor, then you'll love this game. Otherwise, its just another first person shooter that I only reccomend to those who enjoy first person shooters of all kinds.

Keyboard controls are a mess, and it doesn't even bother helping you with QTEs as it shows XBOX 360 BUTTONS on the HUD instead of keyboard buttons! Another great game to add to my "terrible games" library. If you want to enjoy this game to its fullest, then play it on console or use a controller on PC. It's been awhile since I played this game. So why does it matter? Besides, the multiplayer is dead! Well, to keep people from playing this and to remind people that there might be supposedly "bad" games like Duke Nukem Forever or RAGE out there, but at LEAST they aren't this horrible, buggy, repetitive mess. If you get this game, you better enjoy constantly being incapacitated in a game that tries way too hard to be "realistic" when it comes to bullet damage or cover systems. And once incapacitated, you have to wait for your partners to revive you. The story is also a convoluted mess that I can't make ANY sense of at all. Seriously... what is... ANYTHING?! And why is anything?! Seriously, even my questions are becoming confused by this game's plot! Trust me guys, I tried SO HARD to enjoy this game, but it really imploded in on itself from the constant bugs, repeitive gameplay, and boring weapons. Avoid this game, or get it if you enjoy Gears of War if it was stripped of all intensity.

A perfect case for why critics are stupid and completely miss the point when it comes to some games. Are most of these critics young people or are too old? Or do they not remember playing Serious Sam? Are they even aware of the numerous complaints about the problem with modern shooters these days (although I love Battlefield 3 and plenty of other shooters these days)? **** that so much RESEMBLES a classic shooter comes out, they have to make up problems to nitpick in their silly reviews. Now, let's talk about the game, as I am not reviewing the REVIEWERS here. Serious Sam 3 is... a completely awesome game with lush graphics, jaw dropping moments, and seriously awesome seriously serious battles. It paces itself just right too, giving you room to breathe right before a huge battle pops up suddenly! This game in a nutshell is all of our classic gaming sensibilities done just right for the modern market! Reloading helps to give combat more intensity, and forces you to switch weapons on the fly. Health powerups like medkits are often scarce, opting for an abundance of +1 health stimpacks instead. Better gore helps to make each fight seriously more seriously fun than ever before. Seriously seriously!! Okay enough with the "seriously" jokes. The only major problem is, once again, a lack of real optimization for PC despite what Croteam says. The game's performance is VERY erratic for many gamers, with little or no explanation for why it runs poorly by the developers themselves. They say it runs "well" for them, but they don't understand that not all of us have fancy processors or PCs. Silly Croteam. RAGE and Battlefield 3 look better but run very well for me, which says a lot about Serious Sam 3 in terms of the performance. However, that's the only real issue I have. Other minor complaints are somewhat repetitive area designs, reused sound effects clearly from the glory days of classic Serious Sam, and incrediblly hard to find secret areas. Everything else, however, is perfectly fine and worth every penny in your pocket! Now go play Serious Sam 3, and gib some baddies!

My biggest gripe is the performance. It's so imbalanced and erratic, that I wonder why the developers even bothered pretending to brush the console port abomination Saints Row 2 under the rug! The game auto-detects to HIGH settings for my PC with lovely DX11 features turned on High with one on Medium. It still runs at between 25 frames to 50, never going below 25 luckily. As for things not graphics-related... prepare to have your mind blown by over the top insanity at every turn. Solid, fun shooting. Crazy, fun characters. Insane scenarios. Geez, there is so much packed into this game! Only one word can sum it up: FUN!

If you ever wanted to feel what true "war" feels like, then Battlefield 3 is your cup of tea. It does all this without throwing away that arcade-style feel of other fun multiplayer shooters like Call of Duty or Bad Company 2. Battlefield 3 is intense, addictive, and completely worth putting countless hours into the multiplayer. The singleplayer, however, is somewhat underrated to me but mediocre at best. It has its awesome moments here and there, but fails to deliver an emotionally gripping story that war movie lovers (Blackhawk Down, The Hurt Locker) like myself crave. The game's launch was also incrediblly buggy and rushed, with at least two of the maps having quite a few problems in terms of balance. However, patches have long since killed bugs, crashing issues, and rampant screen flickering. I would of given this game a 8 early on, but the numerous updates as well as the Back to Karkand expansion pack make this intense, visceral experience **** completely WORTH every penny! Go buy it now!!

Skyrim is a good game, but something about it doesn't seem right to me. Maybe it's because I am extremely tired of fantasy adventure settings, wonder why open world games are so good, or maybe it's because Skyrim has the same exact gameplay as Oblivion or Morrowind. Just repackaged with better music, sounds, animations, and graphics. But, in all honesty, it is still an excellent game that DOES take awhile for me to enjoy it thoroughly. One of my favorite aspects is the perk system, which does not fail in allowing you to use WHATEVER you want. As a fan of warriors who uses two handed swords and matching armor, this game REALLY caters to me! Let's see World of Warcraft or ANY OTHER RPG do that, as they only encourage you to use "what's best". Anyway, Skyrim is stellar in every aspect, but tough for people like me to get into...

Excellent in almost every possible way. Deus Ex: Human Revolution provides people who are not very big fans of open world settings with a comfortable gameplay style that isn't too linear or too open ended. It offers many different choices to each possible scenario, may it be combat, stealth, or even talking your way through at specific points. DE: HR is a perfect example of GOOD console porting with its numerous and lovely DirectX11 bells and whistles. It will barely strain your PC, but still possess some lovely visuals. The characters do look rubbery and sometimes undetailed, but the environments are quite often stellar looking. All this eye candy runs at max framerate for me! But graphics alone don't make a game. The story, characters, and setting are all quite immersive. There is conspiracy and corruption abound within the dystopian future of DE: HR, and it provides us with emotionally powerful moral and philisophical implications! A highly reccomended game!!

Vastly underrated, this game recieved the hate it did only because of "raging" PC gamers and their incredible sense of entitlement. I am a PC gamer myself, and I feel ashamed to be part of a community that hates a perfectly good game such as this. The common complaints are the performance, lack of delivery for the promise of "open ended" gameplay, and numerous bugs. For one thing, buy and play this game now. For one thing, it no longer lags and it looks absolutely stunning. There are no longer ANY performance issues, and the graphics look even better than Battlefield 3. Serious Sam 3, Saints Row The Third, and Skyrim are games that tote nice graphics or DX11 options, but run poorly or have uneven performance due to bad optimization... Battlefield 3 runs on high for me with great performance, however with my 6850 HD graphics card. But that's not the point, the point is that id listened to our complaints as PC gamers and they delivered fixes. Drivers have been released that have long fixed the performance problems. This is no longer an issue. Open world games are overrated in my opinion. I don't get that sense of "scale" or "sandbox gameplay" that other gamers obsess over.. To me, I prefer games like Deus Ex Human Revolution, that OFFER multiple paths but are still linear with a clear goal in front of me. Sometimes, linear is better simply because it is comforting and offers a clear routine or path. There is nothing wrong with open ended gameplay, but id is masterful at creating corridor shooters, NOT open world games. Expecting Rage to be anything more is utter nonsense, regardless of what John Carmack promised. I think he only promised from HIS perspective of what "open ended" means... not OUR ridiculous standards as spoiled gamers these days. The bugs are also mostly gone. People need to take back their poor reviews this instant, it doesn't deserve a score this low. To me, this game deserves at least a 8, or a 9. It's amazing, immersive, fun, and not one bit "boring" as anyone claims. This game being "boring" is just **** from spoiled gamers who expect far too much from gaming... it's time to finally relax, immerse yourself, and ENJOY this game, especially with the lower price. However, if you want something truly open ended or "masterful", go obsess over Skyrim and don't go play underrated open ended games like Rage or Deus Ex Human Revolution. Don't get me wrong, Skyrim is a great game, but it's a perfect example of sloppy PC optimization... again. Even RAGE fixed these performance issues by now!! Now, I'll take my leave, I hope you all take something from my review, and reconsider Rage for your game library!

Crysis 2 is a good shooter in many ways. Although the fun factor in these games is diminished for me lately, it still is an immersive, powerful experience with some truly great set pieces and optimized graphics that can run on even the most modest systems, such as my pretty good mid range gaming PC! The multiplayer is an added bonus that is fleshed out with plenty of game modes, and a few addictive things, but it is way too similiar to most Call of Duty games these days. The singleplayer is an example of why gamers expect way too much these days; just because the levels are easier to understand and not big boring jungles doesn't make it bad in any way. Crysis is boring for me, I'm sorry; Crysis 2 is not, as it is streamlined and easier to understand!

Brink isn't a bad game, but it has flaws that hamper the experience for me. Terrible performance, even after the patch (with my pretty good mid range gaming PC), way too repetitive level designs (even for me, who can take linear areas easily and not get bored), overlly generous experience rewards, and a kind of disappointment that settles in slowly over time after you defend the game tooth and nail after buying it. This isn't like Duke Nukem Forever, which is a game I will defend tooth and nail because I am shocked at how NOT GOD AWFUL that game is. But for Brink, it just slowly lost it's fun factor over time, and I no longer am willing to play it, sadly. I understand what the designers went for, and it works for the most part; but even the over the top shooting or weapons can't fix the terrible performance issues that make the experience feel slow and drawn out. Maybe after I get that ATI 11.6 driver update that's supposed to improve the performance, then maybe I will give this game a try. But for now, it's a curious game that I will play occassionally and only cautiously reccomend.

Vastly underrated in every sense of the word, but no deserving of any other merits other than the intense cinematic shooting, lovely optimized graphics, truly dark storyline. The gameplay is polluted by strangely stiff mouse aim controls, nearly useless 'tactical' elements, overlly difficult battles, and the lack of depth in ammo management or side areas to explore. However, it's still an intense, awesome experience!

A true headache **** that no longer works on my state of the art ASUS gaming computer I got recently. It must be told to anyone out there to avoid this game. Don't get me wrong, I tried to enjoy this game with all my heart; I did like the classic puzzle elements, and I wanted to give it a try. But it ended up being a waste of money and a perfect example of why developers need to focus on making graphics engines that run smooth rather than look 'nice', along with better coding too. The game runs at minimal frames per second even with the lowest settings. At least the voice acting is hilariously bad for a good laugh; so the experience is less painful!

A stellar little expansion with even more crazier levels, crazier enemies, and some crazier weapons. A frantic shooter fan cannot be without this expansion pack. If you can't find it, get Painkiller Black Edition for Steam or a retail copy. It's worth every penny to expand the already spiritual and epic Painkiller experience!

There are already enough positive reviews here to already mirror what I am going to say. Another classic that somehow still has it's appeal to this day; the spiritual story, the mysteriously fantastical areas, the crazy enemies, special abilities, myriad of treasures or secret areas, and the crazy weapons. It's enough to make any lover of Quake or frantic shooters drool. I for one, don't think this game deserves such a high score like a 9 or a 10; but, it comes close to being a classic which will withstand the test of time!

It is a game that you either love, or hate; and to me, it still holds up to this day. I can never get bored of it; maybe it makes me a freak in the gaming community. Gorgeous artwork, that if you invest the effort into to get 1440 by 900 resolution (or higher) working along with max settings, that really holds up even to this day despite it's somewhat retro status. Solid shooting elements are complimented by near perfect pacing for each combat encounter in each room as you progress; accented by scary sound effects, and stellar sound design. The only flaw with the game is the horrid multiplayer, somewhat lackluster storyline, and the effort it takes to get the game to run on higher resolutions; you'll find the solution to THAT one is easier than you think! Otherwise, this game stands out in my Steam library as a true classic regardless of the divided Doom fan base and it's opinions on this game.

Although much time has passed since the release of this game and it's previous installments, I still greatly enjoy this game no matter what problems it possesses. Yes, the game is riddled with bugs, design flaws, and strange 'holes' you'll find in the various areas. It's a game that should of remained as a mod, but I feel that I didn't waste my money with this one, as with the other installments; maybe I'm one of the lucky few who didn't have any of these games crash. It's essentially Painkiller on steroids with nice kick butt music, even bigger battles, and huge open world settings that I find to be epic. I only reccomend this cautiously for true die hard fans like myself. Otherwise, do not buy this game.
