I didn't know "survival/crafting" games could be this bad. Moreover, why is this game real? Who greenlit this or funded this travesty?

It's a fantastic game with a very addictive gameplay loop and a powerful soundtrack to go with it. I would say that it's a 200% improvement over DOOM 2016's gameplay loop. It has set the standard for future DOOM titles. If I had to give this game a definitive score right away, it would be a 10/10 based on the gameplay and Mick Gordon's excellent soundtrack. The main campaign's story is okay. There are some big reveals, unnecessary retcons from 2016, and unexplained time-skips. And frustratingly, there is no explanation whatsoever to bridge the gaps either. So we can only hope Id Software feels compelled to share with us how the Doom Slayer got to where he is at the start of this game. With that said, let me elaborate on the things I didn't like about this game. Let's start with the visual direction of DOOM Eternal, which I don't like. It's not on the same level as DOOM 2016, which had a refreshingly gritty and cinematic feel to it. Every level in 2016 had its own unique lighting in different areas of the level. It felt handcrafted and organic. In comparison, DOOM Eternal feels very inorganic and bland with the monotone global illumination setting for the entire map, across all levels. Some of the interior lighting looks good, but it doesn't measure up to DOOM 2016. And it doesn't matter if you play it on ULTRA NIGHTMARE graphical settings because the global illumination methods used in this game make everything look bright and saturated. Fortunately, it can be mitigated by downloading the 'Doom Eternal DeLighter' mod from Nexusmods. However, the lighting itself isn't as beautiful as DOOM 2016's, which means the result is still disappointing, if slightly less. The weird 8-bit platforming in this game is excessive and immersion breaking. The Cultist Base level has some of the most nonsensical 8-bit platforming I've seen to date. It feels like something 10-year-old children would enjoy. It's the same with gore kills as well. They feel more cartoonish than brutal. I heard Hugo Martin decided to go this route so that his children can play the game. Fair enough, I suppose. It's just not for me. "Attack only when their eyes glow green" enemies and bosses in this game are a cheap gimmick passed off as "well-designed enemies requiring your immediate attention." No, they're cheap gimmicks and nothing more. It's not about the difficulty, it's about the enemy design. If the Marauder is a "well-designed" enemy, why can't we use the Marauder's shield ability in the Multiplayer mode? Because it is stupidly imbalanced, and Id Software couldn't justify its use in multiplayer. My final rating for this game is 7.5/10. I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. DOOM 2016 was a more satisfying experience for me. DOOM Eternal's gameplay and Mick Gordon's new soundtrack are fantastic, but for every two steps forward they've also taken a step back.

What can I say about this Destiny 2 wannabe that you don't already know? The gameplay is good for a while but it will get repetitive real fast. It doesn't matter how many characters or move sets you try. It's the same thing over and over again. The story is mediocre and not worth experiencing as it is right now. The characters are meh, I didn't care for any of them. The loot system is your typical live service "come back every week for new unlocks" kind. All of that would be somewhat bearable if the singleplayer experience was serviceable but without coop partners, the AI in this game, which is about as useful as a wet tissue paper, makes this a very unpleasant experience. It might be worth something 3-4 years down the line but I played what was released and I got a refund the same day. This lifeless imitation of MCU is what you get when greedy publishers want to pursue "live service" as a business model instead of making use of their talented AAA studios to make GOOD singleplayer games. Think about it, Deus Ex was put on hold so that EIDOS can work on this "ambitious game." Go buy Wasteland 3 instead. Or check it out on XBOX GAME PASS.

I never got to play the older version because I didn't have much exposure to popular games when I was younger. I only played whatever I could get my hands on. So being able to play this classic with basically 1:1 remake of the original's content is a refreshing experience for me. So I played this game on both Keyboard & Mouse as well as an XBOX One Controller, and I have to say that K&M is the best way to play this. The UFO controls are wonky on controllers. I like to play 3rd person games on a controller because they usually don't require much precision aiming, so that was a bit of a disappointment. There are also challenges in exploration mode that are hard to get a 3-star rating on if you're playing with a controller. That can get annoying very fast. I also wish they had custom save points for missions because if you fail an objective you have to restart the mission most of the time, and sometimes you will be loaded back to a checkpoint but that doesn't help as much as you'd expect. So those are my two issues with this game. That being said, the game has so much charm! You can tell this was a passion project. I love the story, characters, humor, and the mindless cartoonish violence. I sincerely hope that THQ greenlights a remake for the sequel. I give this game an 8/10. Note: Pay no heed to the inevitable "this game is offensive to my modern sensibilities" people. They will always find something to be offended by even if its decades old. I'm glad that the developers didn't change the game in a detrimental way.

Why bother making a good remade game like Resident Evil 2 when you can milk your fanbase with the hastily put together piece of junk game that barely functions. Not only that, but it also wrecks the perfectly good and WORKING game from 2002.

No lengthy review required. Just buy it and play it (preferably on PC). Rip and tear until it is done. Id Software knocked it out of the park. Honestly, I don't remember the last time I felt this good playing an FPS on PC. Butter-smooth framerates on aging hardware and no bugs or issues whatsoever. I cannot wait for DOOM Eternal.

It's a wonderful RPG in an era where RPGs are becoming increasingly rare. I loved every moment I spent exploring, conversing, hacking, and looting in this game. It's very immersive and the characters (with the exception of some of your companions) are very well written. There are no romance options in this game for those of us who have been spoiled by RPGs from BioWare in its prime. The weapon and armor customization options are limited but it's effective enough. Obsidian can refine it through post-launch content if they're willing. It's not perfect by any means but it is truly a game that every RPG fan should play at least once. Especially if you're a fan of Fallout New Vegas and Mass Effect. In fact, Mass Effect Andromeda, a bloated AAA RPG, wishes it could have done what this game did with an AA budget. I cannot wait to see what Obsidian does with the sequel.

I love vampire lore (not that Twilight nonsense) and went into this game expecting a lot from the storytelling. It mostly delivered on the story through character interactions but the gameplay has glaring flaws. However, I enjoyed it very much for what it is. Your mileage may vary. I love the atmosphere, character interactions, and the 'maxing out Experience points by revealing NPC secrets' feature. I enjoyed the combat once I was sufficiently leveled, but without some of your more powerful vampiric powers in the early game, it's a bit of a chore. Stealth is a possibility but it's poorly implemented and not worth it, IMO. All in all, it's a flawed game with a lot of good and some very bad game mechanics that break immersion later in the game if you're not well prepared. And to this day ( Nov, 2019), there are still bugs present in the game that haven't been patched out (most likely won't ever be) and some of them will stop you from completing quests with maximum efficiency, resulting in less Exp. You just have to hope that you're curious enough to circumvent them through trial and error. I bought it on sale and enjoyed it very much. I recommend buying it for sale (preferably 40% or more) and experiencing it. It's a very good first attempt and I can't wait to see what Dontnod does with the sequel, and I sincerely hope there is one.

"You will stand at its decrepit gate without ever really knowing why." - An old lady from the opening cinematic of Dark Souls 2. Basically, she's telling you how your time will be spent in DS2. You will do things without knowing why. You will kill bosses without knowing why. You will read pointless, unrelated information on boss souls without any world-building. You will seek, seek souls for an endgame boss fight without knowing why. You will do most of the things you do in other Dark Souls game, but only you won't ever really know why you're doing it in this game. It's devoid of lore completely. Nothing is connected and everything feels like an afterthought. The gameplay is fantastic but what good is that when the world itself is so depressingly empty? Watch a couple of Vaatividya videos about DS2 lore and move on. This game is an endless Arcade Mode, nothing else. If you enjoy that sort of thing then this is for you.

A proper Dark Souls sequel unlike Dark Souls 2. Combat is very responsive, feels better than DS2 and heavy weapons feel fantastic. Sorcery and Pyromancy have been nerfed. There's a new FP bar, tied to a new estus flask type, that drains with each use of weapon arts, Sorcery, Pyromancy, and Miracles. Not a fan of the FP bar as it's not a substitute for stamina usage. Instead, all your spells use both FP and Stamina, which is an incredibly annoying limiter placed upon you. DS3 has an actual story you can piece together. Invasions are fun too. Definitely, a fun Dark Souls experience unlike Dark Souls 2.

It's better than the 'Prepare To Die Edition' that came out so long ago. I will admit that this is a barebones remaster. They fixed the fps problems, but not much else has been done to warrant a "remaster" label. No new textures, if anything some textures have been downgraded. Runs well on my PC. Cloud saves is a nice feature I suppose. I loved the game. I didn't play PTDE because of the terrible port so my experience with DS Remastered was fantastic.
