This thing looks like a color swap clone with poorly using of assets from Madfinger's iOS "Samurai: Way of The Warrior" and/or its iOS/Android sequel "Samurai 2: Vengeance" (as all "Gametry" content on Switch looks to be). Game plays pretty much as the second instalment in Madfunger's series, but without graphic novel like cutscenes, new sword combos and blood - even with the finishing animations where foes heads roll, their arms be ripped off and bodies cut in a half still being present. Some of its originals great cartoony environment are present, but even this are diminished, with the astonishing backgrounds from "S2:Vengeance" being resumed into platforms over a green bg. Level progression are pretty much the same too, including some enemy spawns and boss battles that happens in same place at the same order. Its indeed cheap in all the ways the term can be used, but doesn't worth even the expiring Nintendo coins you could had got from buying other titles (plus: i can't precise if it was "did" with already public domain assets or just copy-pasted copyrighted content since the company behind this "wannabe a samurai game" looks lacking info anywhere).

Bug Too!

I spend so many hours back in my childhood with my Saturn running this game. It's a pretty funny game that would be a Sonic's cousin if wasn't so underrated and, sometimes, forgot. "Bug Too!" is an action 3D platformer, sequel of the too not so popular "Bug!". It's the adventure of an anthropomorphic fly and his friends through movie sets recording their new big screen success. Off course this is just a background used like an excuse to put the characters in action, running and jumping and doing all crazy stuff that happen in the various environments of the game... but it's 1996! The world are more simpler, the games aren't so cinematic. Fun was the word of the time and this is what "Bug Too!" is about! Ok, for today standards have a green 2D sprite character in a 3D plain shouldn't look much fun, but believe me, it is: The game combine fully colored and sometimes labyrinthic scenarios with enjoyable CD music composed specially for its stages. Some quotes and sounds can be clearly heard when used by the main character and enemies in the whole game, giving more life to the animations. The challenge of beat another level and have a bonus level if you play well enough doing some combos when stomping enemies head and collecting crystals was all a child in the 90ies would want in a videogame, but we aren't just talking about a 90ies game. Bug was a SEGA 90ies game, then we should expect more cause bug has this too, showing short CG game related jokes when you pass to a new scene, culminating with a CG closure as a reward for the ones that can beat the whole thing. What would be better than this in a era where we still were growing from full 2D things like Sonic and Mario games?

What is a man if not a miserable pile of secrets! But isn't secret to anyone that, undoubtedly, this is one of the best Castlevania 2D games. SoTN mark an era and help to define its genre. Almost all Castlevania releases after it drink in the same glass that Dracula **** in the very start of this game and, even now, we have other games being inspired by it. It's not an easy game; it could be a lot frustrating and reach its 100% only mean you are in the middle of your Dracula's castle tour, but this should be part of the fun, even the other half of this crusade against evil being hard to find without a little external help. Unfortunately the PS version is the most common one to be find in its many releases for newer systems and it's incomplete. We have some minor details and sections that can't be played on it (like the whole game with Maria...) but it still is a great game even for today standards and is easy to notice why SoTN is so well saw among players over the world for so many years.

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition

Darksiders is a must for any hack'n'slash fan and its "warmastered" version aren't different! You are War. You was betrayed in the middle of a battle between heaven and hell. The world ends and you need fight your way against the worst enemies possible to redeem yourself for the "crime" of start it all. This couldn't be the more genial thing ever, but off course was made the best way possible, making us enjoy every time War swing his sword or any of the weapons he take in the journey that mix battles, 3D platforming, puzzles, hidden collectibles and all this kind of stuff in a game that has mechanics remembering other great blasts from the last 20 years like Devil May Cry, Prince of Persia, God of War and Legend of Zelda. Both original and remaster release looks and play the same. The only difference is visual, which doesn't mean too much since the game already have a fine visual with cartoonized style back at its original release. Things just turn a bit more smooth in Warmastered.

Unlike most say, the game looks good, remembering a bit the "touch" of Suda51 bizarre things. It's a bit (read "A LOT") difficult keep all your parts in place in most battles and, for a 2012 game, you could expect something more elaborate, but still a fine game to kill some grotesque and someway "obscene" demons in a way Capcom don't let us did with it's DMC series.

A meaningful "load screen simulator" where you spend more time seen the thing load than in proper game. And what game i ask? You have to battle some manga characters, but they are all the same. Onl thing that change are their special attack animations, visuals and dubs. All the rest looks the exactly the same. If this wasn't enough, the pointless hub between fights that remember a generic MMO lobby looks exaggeratedly big, which turn it empty since theres almost none (if theres some) relevant NPC to talk there than the main quest and shop ones (which are there just for cosmetics by the way; you can buy techniques too, but in the end it don't matter too much). The campaign story partially is in this hub too, but who cares? This game campaign is so dumb and pointless that shouldn't even be considered if it wasn't the only way to unlock new stuff. It's just the same concept from "DBXV", but worse (much worse!), this time being about "all" manga characters from Jump instead of set in a Dragon Ball story. I personally can't see how this game should be relevant unless for people that are too much alienate and sick for main stream manga/anime games (theres some classics too like "YuYu Hakusho" and "Rurouni Kenshin", but it don't change anything).

The game that brought me back to videogames from my dark days... Shouldn't be the most graphically stunning or have the better mechanics, but the world where it happens, its lore, storytelling and the greatness of go from a "no one" that lost everything to become a hero... Theres no words to explain the feel of be rewarded this way! The only thing you know when playing Dragon Age is that you'll need to take your time and, most times, abuse the pause button to figure the best position and tactics for your team, otherwise, you'll be slaughtered by the not so friendly game difficulty. This being said, just pick your favourite class, choose a background and go kill some darkspawns, making the plot evolve in the way you are most comfy through lots of different dialogue lines that can change the route you are traveling.

A true masterpiece yet to be beated! You don't need to have played the previous games or even knew the book series from the polish writer Andrzej Sapkowzki to enjoy it, but if you want, it will help adding more flavour the amazing things you'll live in the skin of this monster slayer. "The Witcher 3" really make you feel like some of your actions has consequences, being it completing a quest and refusing the bounty or simply failing it on purpose; you always need to consider the lesser evil and this fact put the characters in a much more human position than any other game where you just can be a hero f***ing the people's life with your good actions or a villain that end up saving the day by consequence. Theres TONS of stuff to spend hours adventuring in the game. Contracts to complete, monsters to hunt, schemes to dismantle, treasures to find and so on... It's possible to spend hours just traveling to finish one quest and discover a dozen more in the way you took - and another dozen in the other route you could take. The best part is that lots of these side quests was so well written and executed that you may think they are part of the main quest. Never keep boring be fulling around and track everything in this game if you are in for a great story and not for free fancy action, slashing and shooting all the time. PS: Gwent is like another game inside this game! A clever way to forget a bit the harsh life of hunt ghouls and **** trying to beat that drunk moron in the crossroads to receive his unique card (so that you need to take care to not start hunting all Gwent cards and left your witcher obligations aside sometimes).

This is undeniably one of the best games of its year and has a very likeful world to explore, but in the matter of a Zelda game, most of the fuzz about it is just noise. It is off course a good game that deserve to be treated with care and has very enjoyable aspects (i myself find much funnier keep gathering all types of food to try new cooking recipes than keep fighting all monsters along my way), but we need to admit it has its flaws too. One of these is in the "dungeons".,, They are clever and all, but theres so many of them and they were so resumed to "a single challenge" that, sometimes, you do them just to do, like in a casual mobile game on cellphone when you has free time and not too much options at hand. Like i already said, the world is really likeful: bright and shiny colors, animals sharing space with monsters everywhere, NPCs at almost every corner with something to say and even some secrets under rocks if you search well, BUT it outshine the feel of be part of the world for the player since nothing looks to endure too much. Only a couple NPCs has a quest more long than 2 or 3 tasks and complete their side quests don't have any influence over the big picture. Even the main quest CAN be so long than you want it to be; it's only one and, to complete it, you can just choose to go straight to final boss or pass for some trouble solving the issues with the "giant robots that don't assemble a bigger Voltron like robot", but all straight and direct. Simply "go to point A, beat puzzle B, defeat boss C, collect reward D" and nothing more. The whole game is about it and this is why i can't say this is "the best Zelda of all times"; it's just "a fine Zelda to spend some time" with fine ideas and too much looking casual stuff to be done.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

An adventure like we don't have anymore and one of the games of my life! With a story that make us think that is running around treason and vengeance in a decrepit world doomed by the consequence of its tyrannical ruler choices, Soul Reaver is a game that use cleverly its limitations to make it last in an enjoyable way. The world isn't so big, but you can't just go from start to the end without explore it whole (or almost whole); going here and there more than one time, defeating enemies and solving puzzles to pass through sections that was impossible before, or just trying to find some extra glyph to improve your fight against the monsters behind the next door. Truth be told: even back in its days the models are squared, the moves not even a bit smooth, textures can be blurry, but despite this and putting aside the nostalgic feel, the game is a great adventure compensate by the strong story it tells and the apocalyptic grim environment magistrally orchestrated with one of the best ost in video game history. Unfortunately the game left us with the taste that it's incomplete (and it is...), but since it received two direct sequels completing its history arch, this can be soften - even "Soul Reaver 2" don't being so great than the first one and "Legacy of Kain: Defiance" having an open ending that can frustrate some.

Control

One of the best things released in 2019 that i played. Control is a "Remedy" for our eyes - if we go to options and turn off movie grain and motion blur, but it's just my personal taste about this matter. When we heard that the guys on Remedy are working in a new game, isn't too much difficult expect a good thing; was this way since Max Payne, and with this one shouldn't be different. Even don't being THE game to please most people nowdays, it is much enjoyable with its simple but still fun mechanics full of powers, exploration and a plot filled with dark secrets, mystery, some sarcastic humor and twists - sometimes literally twists. The OST is another point that can't pass unnoticed if you have ears. It's marvelous and, again, Remedy bring back some Poets of The Fall songs to this - one under the name of their previous know on Remedy games "Old Gods of Asgard" - to hit the big score delivering an experience that is much more than just run and gun like we can think sometimes when playing it.

Fast, dynamic, frenetic... It's all that should be wanted from Broderlands and it is what this game offer in a new adventure full of possibilities to evolve and blow up things. Never is boring run, jump, use skills and hit some head shots or just make a trap and see things go boom in the same way(!), be it alone or with friends. This game is simply Borderlands and has hours of fun, even the things happening being a bit linear.

Death Stranding

"Keep it simple, keep it clear". This would be the basic rules of any game; Death Stranding isn't any of these IF it could at least be called a "game"! Don't get me wrong... It IS beauty, it's REALLY vast, it "has" ideas behind the things (that for some unknown reasons anyone but Kojima and some of his boot lickers will get), but for what? Hours and hours of walking on a stunning plain at the sound of interesting ost? Win the battle against all "game" mechanics just to climb a mountain? Have a lot of disconnected cutscenes full of movie favourites actors? What is the purpose? What is the story behind all this pretension? Theres a main plot off course, but even it fades in the middle of so much mess. And talking about mess: what and why so many menu screens?! Who plays a game that aren't supposed to be a strategy game (and, sometimes, even the strategy ones) just to spend 2/3 of it in a menu managing and reading all the big texts with small letters? I always have my doubts about Kojima's work; too much narcissist, too much eccentric, too much potential wasted trying to achieve a golden seat above god's head by delivering THE master crafted thing to us, mere mortals, but the pinnacle of all this looks to be here in Death Stranding, and it isn't a good thing for the game itself. How i started saying: just keep it simple and keep it clear, not like Death Stranding.
