Ultimately, The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 might not be perfect, but it’s deeply entertaining with great performances and clear reverence for the book.

This season feels more significant by putting everything on the line for its title character, it requires everyone to step up and give it their all, and they rise to the occasion. It's also nice to hear and see some names and faces from the past to tie the previous seasons into the larger world that’s being built.

Season 4 starts slowly, builds up a head of steam with Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the role of his career and ends as a slam-bang twister of a legal thriller, full of whiplash energy, tasty acting and a satisfying sense of justice served.

It's not a bad season. It's written well and keeps you hooked. That said, what should be 3 or 4 episodes turns into the entire season, completely changes the tone of previous seasons, and just takes way too long. I love this series and I can't say I was disappointed in this season, but it's not the witty defense attorney solving cases in sometimes comical ways like the previous 3 seasons that I came to really enjoy. The case that took the entire season should have been wrapped up in 5 episodes at the most and then gotten back to its roots.
