Though this is still a sort of transitional season, it features enough character development, worldbuilding, and plot advancement to make it a satisfactory viewing experience on its own.

Season 5 of The Dragon Prince has plenty of potential, but sadly, doesn’t quite stick the landing.

An outright phenomenal show that deserves to stand alongside the show it shared writing staff with (Avatar: The Last Airbender). With numerous stellar performances, touching character moments and a willingness to explore darker moments and themes, The Dragon Prince is an all-around fantastic piece of fantasy media. And it is despite occasional minor pacing issues, questionable animation choices in its early seasons, and occasionally trite dialogue that this show manages to be something powerfully evocative and truly remarkable. Personally, this has become one of my all-time favourite animated series, and I can only hope that whatever comes next for its creators can hope to stand in its shadow. All in all, The Dragon Prince is simply fantastic.
