The first season at most was ok, but this second one got where they wanted to go and it wasn't a well done series.

The concept is interesting but it's very drawn out with mostly filler teenage drama and little progress on the main story.

fresh interpretation of the norse mythology. Balanced mix with supernatural stuff and an more serious approach of the norse lore.

……………………………… The fall of the gods Abstract Ragnarök is a miniseries that brings together an episode in Norse mythology where the Scandinavian gods faced the Giants, placing it in a small Norwegian town and linking it to current problems and giving each other human flesh.

Review: A teenager, Magne, along with his mother and his brother, start a new life in the beautiful town of Edda, located at the bottom of a Norwegian fjord. After a doubtful death, little by little he will notice that he is acquiring certain powers that will confront him with a family that governs the destinies of the place. Ragnarök is an episode from Norse mythology referring to the fall of the Scandinavian gods after a battle with their enemies the Giants, described in an ancient collection of poems called Edda. In this case, the series updates that confrontation, with one of the gods incarnated in the young Magne facing the most influential family in town, made up of a businessman, his wife Ran, the beautiful director of the school (an impressive Synnove Makody Lund) and his two teenage sons, forming a group of villains as attractive as they are fearsome. The miniseries could be part of the fantastic drama, with notes and criticisms about capitalism and ecology. The approach is realistic, with the fantastic element well integrated into the daily life of the characters, appropriately graduated and exposed with sobriety and with sparks of that Nordic humor that we have enjoyed in Beforeigners or in Love and Anarchy.

Starts off pretty good, but the plot turns out to be really, really flimsy, like something a 14-year old thought up. Generic cardboard characters in a protect the climate ad. The scenery is nice and sometimes the effects are pretty good, but all in all it's a bit of a let down. I wouldn't really recommend watching it thoug hit's ok to pass the time.

... aaaand another Netflix Show with some fluffy burgers in the first episode, letting you then walk the longest possible route to the pick-up desk throughout the rest of the show. Helloooo Fast Forward, we meet again. Oh man, this button makes me feel like an ancient scandinavian God hammering that button like I'm on fire and voila. Done. Next please.

At first, this seems to be a futile piece of media produced and written by Greta Thunberg exclusively made to piss you off but in reality, it is a good way to bring Norse mythology to modern days in a way that it doesn't seem forced in any way because while you can recognize who Magne really is by just looking at him, other characters give a mystery if you're not familiar with Norse mythology.
I think the only problem with this show is the number of episodes. clearly the writers wanted 10 episodes because of how slow-paced it is until episode 4 and rushed episodes 5 and 6 are, still, you never get confused or uninterested. This is a solid story to be told and needs more seasons.

It starts quite well, but unfortunately the season finale is an utter disappointment.

This is a seemingly simple story that does much to set the framework for a much larger arc. Let’s hope we get a second season and more Norwegian drama.

After i saw the trailer i had to force myself to watch it. Expecting some standard Teenage Drama. While it is to a degree it does so with such a refreshing non Hollywood touch and good character development. Woven in with respectful understanding of Nordic mythology and great on location filmed landscape. If you know the history there are tons of "eastereggs" to find. It is a slow burn well worth a watch. Can not wait for season 2.

Decent enough way to spend an evening (or two) but not groundbreaking. I found the English dubbing off-putting, much better in original language using subtitles. And unfortunately not top of my personal list for entertainment about Norse god reincarnation; #1 spot is still held by delightful NZ creation The Almightly Johnsons.
