The contest consists of family members answering questions about one another to win money and prizes, which is straightforward enough and entertaining on its own. But what makes it work so well, I am surprised to say, is the Big Gimmick: the fact that the show is staged on the contestants' front lawn.

Whether it will sustain as a weekly TV show or whether it would work better as an occasional random 10 minutes of dinner conversation remains to be seen.

It's a cute, generally uplifting concept but I'm not sure it will work.

Ultimately, it's harmless but pretty stupid, which generally describes most of actor-producer Ashton Kutcher's forays into primetime.

Truth is, there's not terribly much to dislike about Opportunity Knocks, a kinder, gentler version of Fox's "Moment of Truth" in which families win by having their members answer not unreasonable questions about one another. There's not much to get excited about, either.

As it is, Opportunity looks to be just another blown opportunity--unless producers Ashton Kutcher, JD Roth and company listen to me, that is.
