Such a brilliant tv show really shows you the start of how it all began and I hope there is going to be a season 2.

All in all, the show is a super dark, terrifying faithful adaptation. Perhaps the best yet in my opinion. Im reminded of some of the wonderful films coming out of Asia. That is, it's very sad and heavy and unflinching. It has perhaps the most disghusting and disturbing imagery of any film, yet tied to a very well written and well acted work of horror where the youngest actors don't sink the whole product to near ruination. And in my experience perhaps the most hideous and violent monsters of all time, very much like the books. And its packed with actual action and stakes, not empty space or time wasting. It's like they took the best elements of the books and put them in, somehow rarely being copy and paste or lazy. And the best relationships between characters, not like modern times where characters are defined by their hyperbolic cruelty and cliche identity political horse **** that's ubiquitous these days. In our period of disasterous and pointless desecration of beloved properties this is just so refreshing

IT: Welcome to Derry arrives with a clear disadvantage: we already know too much. We know the town, we know the monster, and we more or less know how it all ends. And still, the series manages to make returning to Derry feel justified. This isn’t just a prequel stretching a familiar brand; there’s a clear effort to build its own identity, with a new generation shaped by fear and a town where evil is baked into the foundations. What works best is how it blends supernatural horror with very real ones. Fear doesn’t come only from what lurks in the sewers, but from racism, abuse of power, family wounds, and a past that refuses to stay buried. At times the series underlines these ideas too heavily, but when it lets them breathe, they hit harder than any jump scare. There are moments when Derry feels like a cruel social experiment rather than just a setting for scares. From a genre standpoint, it’s uneven but with very strong highs. Some images and set pieces linger in your mind, and the atmosphere is thick and oppressive, true to the idea of a cursed town where something is always wrong. The CGI-heavy monster spectacle sometimes weakens the impact, especially when things get too noisy, but overall the sense of constant threat **** characters are the most fragile element. Not all of them are equally developed, and the exposition can feel forced at times. Still, the emotional core holds, with a few relationships and performances grounding the story. You may not connect with everyone, but you connect with enough to want to keep following **** part of the It universe, Welcome to Derry delivers. It expands the mythology without breaking it, offers genuinely striking moments, and restores the feeling that Derry isn’t just a place — it’s a sentence. Not flawless, but a solid and unsettling prequel that leaves you wanting to descend further into the dark.

Really wanted to like it, but there isn't much to like. At parts eye rollingly predictable and too reliant on poorly executed CGI. The backstory they made for the show is poorly written, nonsensical and plays hard into the dated "noble savage" trope of native people. But the thing that is most upsetting is they felt it necessary to CGI a red balloon, it would have been cheaper and less jarringly bad looking to just go to a cornerstore and buy one.

Serie muy digna del libro de Stephen king. Reparto de 10 y una actuación de Bill Skargard en elnpapel de it SOBRESALIENTE al igual que todos los niños.

One of my favorite shows of 2025. Amazing prequel with great child actors, good scares and an interesting lore. On the negative, a bit too much CGI and callbacks.

The series fully lived up to expectations. The atmosphere of Derry is conveyed perfectly — dark, unsettling, and captivating. The story organically expands the universe of It, revealing the town’s and Pennywise’s backstory. Excellent acting, visual style, and tension keep you engaged until the very last frame. For fans of horror and Stephen King’s universe, this is a true gift. I only wish the show allowed us to feel even more of Pennywise’s sinister essence seeping through Derry.

My Review – It: Welcome to Derry – 10/10
I gave It: Welcome to Derry a 10 out of 10 because it’s an intense, terrifying, and perfectly executed horror experience. The story pulls you in, the characters are well-developed and relatable, and the scares are genuinely effective.
The atmosphere is creepy and immersive, the tension is constant, and every scene keeps you on edge. It balances horror, suspense, and emotional depth in a way that makes it unforgettable.
This is why It: Welcome to Derry is a 10/10.

Gruesome and very enterating series. Yes, it relies a lot in spectacle but you can't deny that the action/horror/drama built here really moved audiences like few things this year.

An amazing must watch horror show in my opinion, I can't really think of anything that I didn't enjoy throughout the episodes. The only thing I'd maybe criticize was how the VfX was done in some scenes, but that was only in one episode - also the acting from Bill Skarsgård was FANTASTIC, there aren't enough words to describe how well he fits the role.
Amazing show, would recommend without a doubt. 10/10

This could have been an amazing show if it would not be full of your modern day hollywood racism. Im so sick of every white male being portrayed as a racist. What do these people think they can achieve with this? Its beyond me. I think these stereotypes actually create racism. So this sadly ends up being another piece of woke trash. Too bad. Everything else was just great. What a shame. Hollywood is destroying itself. Just like the western games industry. Its like a toxic virus killing western culture.

It: Welcome to Derry’s first season saves its biggest, weirdest swings for last. Pennywise’s march across the Penobscot, and the race to stop him, provide a good throughline for the finale, even if the military motivations that underpin this conflict completely fall apart. The emotional beats do land, though, with the characters that make it to the end getting satisfying conclusions to their arcs. Fascinatingly, Welcome to Derry seems keen to really get creative with the entire history of It – backwards and forwards – in future seasons, and the groundwork laid for that in “Winter Fire” is interesting if a little hastily explained.

Its a good show. Until episode 5, it was rather bland. It did focus a lot on the mysterious happenings around the kids who encountered IT but it dragged out way too long. A good portion of the first half of the show was dedicated to racial topics and its draining, even if the shows is set in the 1960s. Midway through episode 5 and until the rest, seeing Bill Skarsgard as a more brutal, unhinged Pennywise compared to the movies, landed iconic scene and line after iconic scene and line. From "Seeing things ? I think they see you too" with that maniacal laugh afterwards, or during the last episode when he even briefly sings as he gets ready to spread even more havoc... Bill carried this show for me and I am glad that the directors reconsidered bringing him back because an IT show without Pennywise would have been very bland. What disappointed me, which definitely made my final score a 6 is how they decided to go the route of Pennywise seeing through space and time and seeing his own death by the hands of the losers club... And then at the end him going back in time to creep out Beverly as the old lady from IT Chapter 2 (who is also the woman who is the daughter of the human Pennywise)... I mean, I dont like where this is going. In my opinion, this show should have done each season as each cycle ever since IT landed on Earth, in Derry... They effectively destroyed the prequel purpose of the show by making IT go back in time...

After delays, filming stoppages, and much uncertainty about its future, It: Welcome to Derry finally reaches audiences carrying considerable weight. Not only because it expands one of the most popular horror franchises of recent years, but also because it runs the risk of becoming unnecessary within a universe that already seemed well closed by the two recent films. What is surprising, however, is that the series not only avoids this fate but establishes itself as an essential part of the It mythology, breathing new life into the franchise and paving the way for future seasons and even new films.Under the creative direction of Andy Muschietti, alongside Jason Fuchs and Barbara Muschietti, the series demonstrates an impressive mastery of Stephen King's work. Here, the horror lies not only in the clown or the scares, but in the town of Derry itself, treated almost as a living organism, a silent accomplice to everything that happens. The series understands that It has always been about more than Pennywise: it is about collective fear, omission, cycles of violence, and an entire community that learns to live with **** series manages to turn skepticism into surprise. What seemed like a risky and potentially unnecessary project turns out to be a rich, well-crafted, and meaningful expansion of the franchise. Andy Muschietti, after a recent stumble with The Flash, reaffirms his deep understanding of Stephen King's universe. Welcome to Derry shows that It was never just about a scary clown, but about a cursed town, cycles of fear, and stories that span centuries.Even with occasional problems with pacing, fragmentation, and visual effects in the early episodes, the series establishes itself as one of the big surprises of 2025 and one of the best productions of the year. It not only expands on the past, but also arouses genuine curiosity about the future, especially with the upcoming seasons set in 1935 and 1908. The franchise gains a new lease on life in the hands of a director who understands its essence and an actor who proves, once again, that he was born to bring Pennywise to life.

The “It” films are taken from Stephen King’s novel about an evil clown who hides in sewers, where he lures children. This series is a prequel with additional elements that weren’t in the book. It takes place in 1962, in the titular town in Maine. After children disappear, other kids take on the challenge to find them and conquer Pennywise (the clown’s name). The are some subplots, including one about racism, that drag out the story. There are also too many extended dialogue scenes. This show is really about the terror elements, some of which are OK and a few are creepy. Ep 7 is especially horrific. At least the young cast is age appropriate (I’m talking to you “Stranger Things”) and Bill Skarsgård is even more diabolical that he is in the films. Fans of the movies will appreciate the opportunities to extend the story, but the typical curse of a series is the rambling aspects that dilute the impact. (8 one-hour eps)

The consistency varied a bit from episode to episode in the beginning, but the end product was well worth the wait and those last two episodes were something special. It's not perfect, but this first season left the impression of a project with reverence for the story and world it's pulled from, with references to the book, earlier movies, and nods to some of King's other works peppered throughout. I have my complaints, but I look forward to watching this one again from start to finish sometime soon and for me, that's the mark **** show. It might be unfair to compare this group to the Loser's Club of the 2010s movies, but it's also very difficult not to as they're positioned similarly in story that treads some of the same beats. Individually, the kids just didn't feel as compelling. There's not a ton of meaningful character development for Lily, Rich, Will, or Ronnie, with Marge doing most of the heavy lifting in that department, but the group is still entertaining to watch and I found myself rooting for them the further along I went.A good chunk of my issue with this first season is with how the show is paced in those first four episodes. It wouldn't be as noticeable if the very first episode hadn't ended with a such a bang. By setting the bar where they did in "The Pilot" (I see what they did there), they ensured that people would be disappointed when the next three episodes felt slower, less focused, and at times a bit tedious. Between a few scares and a lot of scattershot pacing, the showrunners tried to juggle setting up many characters and subplots that end up feeling like they're holding back a little too much, and leaving us wondering where this is all going a little too often. Episode four also committed the cardinal sin of including a seven minute chunk of exposition told through a young Taniel's recounting of a tribal story/flashback that felt so forced it was as amusing as it was frustrating. Thankfully it doesn't get worse than that, and the end of E4 felt more like an isolated incident than a regular offense.A lot of these grievances are reconciled in the back half of the show, and it was a massive relief to find out that the slow burn was leading to something great. Bill Skarsgård absolutely shines once again as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, and this time he's the scariest he's been since 2017 (and at times even more terrifying). I heard a commentator on NPR describe this show as more "squishy" than scary, and I definitely get what she meant, but I think it's more of a balance of the two with a little more squish than the movies had. Development of the very first movie started in 2009 and there were many hoops to jump through to get the final 2017 release to that R rating. Welcome to Derry: Chapter One feels like a victory lap of the showrunners gleefully letting Pennywise wreak the path of blood and gore that the movies were more cautiously watch their footing around. I love it, flaws and all, and I'm excited for season two!

The plot is not that bad but it's full of woke stupid things, here blacks are treated bad with the usual stupid point of view of the feftist, like "oh look there is a black dude and we have to treat him bad cause he is black and we are white. seen? shame on you white people"

The first couple of episodes were quite interesting, touching on the topic of racism without forcing it, which was indeed the case in the 1960s, but what followed was simply impossible for a white person to watch. Apart from the two main female characters, there are simply no good white people in the series, zero. They are all portrayed as either negative or absolutely evil. Even ordinary people on the streets of the city are all evil and, of course, absolute racists. By the end of the season, it turns out that white people are even worse than Pennywise. But all the black people in this series are, of course, absolutely positive and kind. I couldn't even imagine that this would be the case in this series after two great films. I have never seen such a racist series towards white people. HBO has become just another DEI studio. It's hard to believe that they once produced great TV series.

This show loses the heart of what makes It scary, in favor of franchiseable, IP driven slop. Wooden exposition and absolutely zero subtext. The finale was full of plot conveniences, low stakes, and big events have no effect on the town of Derry. Lame

Absolutely amazing series ! I’m praying it’s renewed for a season 2 and 3. Phenomenal acting. The way the show pieces everything together with the original “IT” movies is chef kisses. 10/10 definitely recommend.

"It: Welcome to Derry" is a dark and cool prequel. There won't be any crazy clown horror. Instead, it's a slow-paced story about how an old evil seeps through the problems of society in Derry in the 1960s. The strong points of the series are its cool hopeless atmosphere, detailed mythology (they finally showed where Pennywise came from), and powerful dramatic moments. The real horror comes from the violence in the families, the racism, and the fact that the adults don't care about anything. The actors are great, especially the younger ones. However, there is a downside: the pace is inconsistent, and there is often a lack of interaction between the children. The first episodes are very slow, which can be frustrating. If you're a fan of King, you should definitely watch this series, as it provides answers to many questions and offers a deeper understanding of the universe. It's a serious show that focuses more on the world than on jump scares.Overall, I liked the series more than the movies. Looking forward to season 2

Read the book, watched the movies and now watching the show. I think is enjoyable, expands on the lore and you connect with the characters in the story. Also has some great shocking moments, even gory. Not a perfect show for me because being a fan of the original book makes me somewhat disagree in some of the creative liberties and decisions they take with "IT"'s character, ablities, power, etc. Some expanded lore is really good and a plus for sure, some is questionable. Overall good show, not a masterpiece.

This show is absolutely spectacular, my wife and I and stoked for the last episode. It is a shame this show has to come to an end, but I look forward to every Sunday to see the next one. The first couple episodes can be confusing to some, but there are a lot of articles out there with a simple google search to under some of the certain aspects. I can not wait for the next confirmed seasons.

What made IT such a great watch was the child actors , welcome to derry lacks this in abundance although the children in this show are trying they lack the personality and depth of characters there movie counterparts had in abundance the adults are not much better other then the shinning, the plot with penny wise and his daughter has stired some interest but so far as it stands its bad ,even when the clown turns up that's still not enough to save this doo doo
To far in to stop now but extremely underwhelming

The parts where Pennywise is actually in the show are the only reason I gave it a 3. There is a good premise: the whole military is trying to use Pennywise for their own purposes while Pennywise is doing his cycle thing. But damn, there is all this unnecessary narrative garbage that is just a yawnfest; I am fast-forwarding through the series to get to the VERY few good parts. What is it with Hollywood lately, using IPs to make movies, then not actually USING the main character in said IPs? Whoever is over this series, get a stopwatch and measure how much screen time Pennywise receives; if it is anything less than 50%, the show is going to ****.

Masterclass is expanding the source material. I really enjoyed how tv shows expanding the source material gives great liberties and the 2017s team is back and throwing everything at this series that took King's "Castle Rock" old show and really giving it the theatrical treatment. You wouldn't be able to get away with half of the stuff in movies that this show throws at you. good job

Unfortunately, I found the story very boring and inconsistent. Many plot points didn’t make sense, and the writing felt unfocused. The acting quality was uneven, with several performances feeling weak or hard to follow due to unclear delivery, black ghetto slang???. The characters were written in a very one-dimensional way, with certain groups portrayed in an overly stereotypical manner white people bad, black people good. The show could have been great, but the execution made it feel disappointing and forced.Another woke goes broke example...a 10 years old kid could hire better actors and write a better story...

I initially gave it a 6 but now im now lowering the score. Too much talk, no action or killings, and pennywise can be counted by seconds in the scenes he appear. So far I thought the first episode was strong, second episode was a great contender for the twist but it went downhill from there on out.
