Cregger’s film is a standout — unsettling, odd, and wickedly fun. Weapons might just be the horror movie for people who don’t do horror.

A former sketch comic, Cregger knows how to work a crowd. The combination of his assurance and his characters’ confusion is wonderful in the moment, as though you’re listening to a spiel from someone who sounds crazy but might be making all the sense in the world.

The user score is too low on this one. It needs to be brought up. This horror move is good like Get Out, Hereditary, and IT. Much better than the laughable score for A Quiet Place which is overrated at 82.

Greetings from Lithuania.
I was waiting for "Weapons" (2025) simply because i loved "Barbarian", a feature debut by Zach Cregger - that film was excellent in its storytelling and twists. "Weapons" in my opinion is even better film. I absolutely was taken away by this film from its opening scene till last frame. This film has on a surface a simple yet masterclass storytelling. Performances were excellent, and i won't get into details nor plot of this movie - one should discover it by himself. It isn't a horror fest in a traditional sense, more like a mystery film with outstanding sound design, great cinematography, excellent writing and confident directing. It takes its time to unravel its story, and there is a dark and wonderful humor here - but it is of course not a comedy in any sense. It is a bit bloody film, there are scenes involving body horror that will test ones nerves - but there are few and they aren't overdone. Overall, "Weapons" is a masterclass film in my opinion. One can complain about its pacing but for me its not an issue. I found it to be absolutely captivating and superbly crafted. Great film.

Weapons is such a deliriously twisted blast that, as soon as it’s complete, you’ll want to shake up the box and do it all again.

Weapons rudely disrupts the illusion of suburban safety with impish delight and a fully stocked horror arsenal. It also addresses some of the magical thinking that incomprehensible tragedy can inspire in people who would otherwise never engage in it.

This is a tale that’s carefully crafted as much as told, with hints hiding in plain sight and surreal touches that add more to the vibe than the momentum. But you never feel like you’re in the hands of someone who doesn’t know exactly what he’s doing.

In many ways, this is an expertly crafted chiller. . . A strong cast and an intriguing chapter structure also work in its favor. But ultimately, it’s not really about anything much.

Once Mr. Cregger starts to let loose his revelations, though, disappointment creeps in, and the scale and soul of the film shrink before our eyes. It’s impossible to say how without getting into spoilers. But the movie’s potential richness, kept in play by its ever-circling narrative style, is finally brought crashing to the ground by its denouement.

De mis películas favoritas del año, me encantó la forma en que desarrollaron la película por partes y personajes, me gustaron las pistas y simbología escondida, como todo estaba conectado, me mantuvo entretenido de principio a fin, ame el final.

Interesting parts, way overhyped imo. It's decent enough with the story and acting.

It's an absolutely bonkers movie. It's actually quite intriguing to watch although there's a mile-wide plot hole that you kind of have to just shrug off almost from the very beginning. But the tone and interesting plot takes a serious deep-dive towards the end. And the ending itself is just so out there that even the movie itself realizes this and basically turns it into a British comedy mixed with nods to Bad Taste and Braindead. Ultimately the movie is entertaining, although it struggles to keep a straight face at the end.

Another nominations-trap. It's designed to get accolades. The script got auctioned in a circle-jerk and turned into the usual clap-trap for their own audience. Final steps: hype it as the next grand film and hire the affiliate upvoters to pretend that real consumers rated this movie high. The movie is slow and devoid of suspense. Absolutely nothing happens in the first half for example. Only then it slowly builds up towards a story - but as I mentioned, without suspense. It's just a story unfolding. You won't get real answers, there's a bit of dark humor here and there. Ending finalizes it but whatever. That's how you're left behind.
