The New York Times
Maybe there will be an oversaturation of ''Scream''-inspired horror films someday soon, but this one feels fresh.

Variety
Before long, however, the suspense becomes repetitious and predictable. In its denouement, the film breaks faith with its audience, violating credibility in an attempt to deliver a surprise villain.

Another favorite of mine. I've watched this movie so many times that my VHS tape barely works any more. A killer is killing people by way of urban legends, brilliant! Lol

Urban Legend followed the success of Scream and the movie is a fun horror ride as well. The actors are well cast, there are decent scares and a clever plot. The movie was made for horror fans and nothing in the movie feels hokey or copied.

With each death, the film becomes less interesting. By the end, it's just a routine slasher flick with a too-predictable final "twist."

Chicago Sun-Times
The film is competently made, and the attractive cast emotes and screams energetically.

Los Angeles Times
A low-voltage drive-in movie, made strictly by the book.

L.A. Weekly
When will Hollywood learn that a genre trend can last for years if itís nurtured with decent scripts? No time soon, apparently.

Empire
Director Blanks delivers a wholly pedestrian feature debut in this by-numbers teen horror flick that could give you the impression Scream never really happened.

Perfect trash slasher for the era, the characters and story is silly, the kills are just ok, the twist and final girl are average.

Kids at University start getting bumped off, killings are like "Urban Legends", kids investigate, it would have worked if it hadn't been for you meddling kids. Live action Scooby Doo episode but the cartoon had better story lines. Usual cliched teen horror that came out after Scream in the late 90s that doesn't offer anything new or original. Saying that, I did get the killer wrong.
