The movie is as loaded with fun as it is with social implications. Its broad comedy about the modeling world plays like a deadpan version of “Zoolander,” and its third act has more primal drama than a season’s worth of “Survivor.”

As always with Östlund, his most profligate flights of fancy tack close enough to reality to ring queasily true.

All of the scenes are exciting and surprising. All of them are meaningful. All of the dialogues are interesting especially between captain and the Russian old man. I really enjoyed it!

Filmmaking at its finest. Everything is done for a reason here. Wasn’t sure at first, but got better and better.

Triangle of Sadness is a dark delight that has plenty to say on the state of the world we live in.

If “Triangle of Sadness” falls short of greatness, it lives comfortably on the tier of goodness, even as it unpacks such bad, bad behavior.

Ruben Östlund’s Palme d’Or-winning social satire, Triangle of Sadness, is many things: a cautionary tale about the perils of slurping shellfish on rough seas, a blunt (as in dull) critique of the one percent, a (wasted) opportunity to hear Woody Harrelson espouse the tenets of Karl Marx and a pessimistic suggestion that people — both the oppressors and the oppressed — share a fundamental willingness to exploit each other given the right circumstances.

Writer-director Ruben Östlund’s pessimism ultimately leads the film toward a self-negating dead end.

There are movies that are on-the-nose and then there is Ruben Ostlund’s Triangle of Sadness, a satire™ that is so pharyngeal that it is the cinematic equivalent of a COVID-19 swab.

This was such a fun movie for my wife and I to watch. It had us rolling with laughter throughout. But we also stopped it about 4-5 times to talk about the interesting stuff going on in the movie. We tend to have differing taste, but we both enjoyed this one so much that I felt compelled to write my first review. I especially thought the performance of the male lead was fantastic.

It's a weird movie. The writers are clearly trying to say something about gender equality and the rich, but it feels a bit inauthentic and preachy. It does have a few funny moments and it kept me interested until the end.

It took about an hour for the ball to get rolling…then the iconic puking and explosive pooping scene began…just when I was about to start eating my fries and gravy! Disgusting as it was, that was the highlight of the movie. Cringy but cleverly witty. As a person who is currently being plunged into poverty with the relentless help of the Canadian Trudeau government, it was rather refreshing to see the wealthy, uppity elite take the back seat to the little perils of life when the almighty dollar sign can’t save you from a little inconvenience! That was a nice little power shift that I’m sure will rub a few people the wrong way. The ladder half of the film however, was a drag and the abrupt ending left me feeling as if the budget ran out so filming was just simply halted.

The first 10 minutes are brilliant but after a promising start the satire becomes extremely heavy handed. The director takes great care to build a tension at the beginning of the film, then throws it away with an extremely obvious message. What a waste

A Swing and a **** 1st forty-five mins were entertaining enough. But by the time the thunderstorm arrives, it turns into torture! It was a gross out fest for a solid half hour. I'll spare you All the gory details.Sorry swedish director but no one is into that. in the 3rd act they even quite sadly murder a distressed donkey which was utterly disgusting. Like why?!! Most bits trying hard to be clever, fall flat. The director inserts a very weird and boring (30 mins max!) appearance by woody harrelson as ships captain, who phones it in with a wealthy, Russian oligarch. Which begs the question, If these people are really that filthy rich?!!why don't they own their own yachts?!! Triangle gets interesting again for a few minutes when Somali pirates swing into action after the storm has passed. The second half of the film is a modern take on the British film of 1957 called Paradise Lagoon or Admiral Crichton in America. Where a butler goes off on a tricked out yacht with his rich useless Lord and his family. They get Lost at sea and then shipwrecked on a deserted isle. The Butler becomes the de-facto leader of the merry band of misfits because he can make fire, hunt, fish ect... This movie is basically about class hierarchies, but with a few switch ups, but not much **** ending was unnecessary and rather bizarre. Not the film I was hoping for, About 45mins to an hour too long. Where was the editor?!! It was a bit of a train wreck. Save yourself the trouble and watch Paradise Lagoon instead. You'll be glad you did!!
