The Hunger Games: Catching Fire more than makes the case for this as a franchise that's going to get better as it goes, and I am genuinely excited to see how they wrap it up.

The screen translation of Catching Fire, the second volume of the series, offers its audience many of the elements that made The Hunger Games compelling, but adds to that by deepening the themes and emotional currents and traveling to darker destinations.

Greetings from Lithuania.
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" (2013) is, as of writing this in early 2026, the best film in the "Hunger Games" series by far - in my opinion. This is a near perfect sequel to "Hunger Games" that was good, but this one was just better in every way. Nearly everything in "Catching Fire" works on highest notes - from a terrific acting of great cast, to pitch perfect editing, directing and writing. At running time 2 h 18 min this movie never draggs and is involving from a get go. Revesting the entire series in 2026 on 4K UHD format I did enjoyed this film just as i did back in 2013 - it is an amazing sequel.
Overall, "Catching Fire" is the best film in the series, and a great example of how to make an excellent sequel. Bigger, better in every way and involving from start to finish, this is a superb entertainment.

Une excellente suite à l'original. Il reprend ses qualités et les développe.

Catching Fire is a great leap forward for the franchise. Seeing as it’s all about hope and what it represents, here’s hoping the next two are just as good, if not better.

Everything that felt clumsy in The Hunger Games has been improved upon here. That's most apparent in the clarity of the action, but it also extends to how efficiently the film establishes so many new ensemble members.

Catching Fire is bigger, better and broodier than the first film.

The Hunger Games franchise, both in print and onscreen, has been exceptionally clever about cozying away imaginative space for fans to fill in the blanks and cast themselves in the rich drama. That this latest film leaves us hungering for more only means that it’s working.

Deep thoughts about re-directing cynically manipulated celebrity, lump in the throat moments at people rising up against their oppressors, a couple of memorable deaths and attempts at sacrifice play as flat when there’s nothing around them to serve as contrast.

Plot rather recycled from the first chapter where the struggle for survival of the protagonist in the arena is proposed again. This time however it is less focused on the struggle between tributes and survival elements but the story follows a different script that makes the film enjoyable although rather similar to the previous one.

Somehow even darker and more brooding than the original, which was itself no sunshiny walk in the park. Following the financial success of that first film, a lot of rough edges and awkward missteps have been ironed out in time for the next act. Most notably improved is the effects work, which seemed just a bit too much like a video game cutscene. The new arena is convincing and beautiful, the glitz and glamor of The Capitol has been amplified appropriately, and the intricacies of the cast's showy wardrobe (which memorably underwhelmed in the first film) are far better realized. Catching Fire's plot is efficient, if telegraphed and incomplete: its sudden, jolting cliffhanger (which occurs, literally, right in the middle of a sentence) left me flat, even if it is laid out the same way in the source material. Much of the primary cast spends the duration wrapped up in their own sorrow, quietly brooding over their predicament while the roles of their flashier, more PR-friendly foils have been trimmed down to mere cameos. Such concessions are understandable, as the film does run quite long as it is, but the accompanying shift in tone makes this a very redundant, single-colored ride. An improvement over the first film in many ways, but the first act really drags its feet and there's a puzzling lack of enthusiasm, energy and suspense to it all.

E a cena final é péssima. Perdi a vontade de continuar a franquia, devo dizer.
