The Doorman

By the end of the film's scant 72 minutes, the conceit is on the verge of wearing out its welcome, but by then, it's created so much stomach-churning, quease-inducing, uproariously embarrassing humiliation for Trevor that it's become all but irresistible.

Price keeps the humor believably shallow and the movie from getting too far from the aim of chronicling an exclusivity junkie's fall.

The Doorman, is simply too distracted to hit the comedic bull's-eye. Whatever the case, his movie gets a chuckle or two but mostly will tickle insiders.

Not until the goofy closing credits does the film hit its tonal stride and nail what could have been its saving, salient theme: the absurd lines that fancy people draw (and obey) to make themselves feel special on a Saturday night.

Built on an amusing idea that can't quite support an entire movie, Wayne Price's comedic debut might have made a terrific short.

Thinly conceived and thoroughly shallow.
