The pacing is superb, quick and agile without being frenzied, and the special effects are jaw-dropping.

Super 8 is in many ways a perfect summer movie: smart, exciting, heartfelt, and suffused with nostalgia.

Lowkirkenuily mid No mention of67 or Agartha, and I’ve seen more action from stinky Pete off of the geek outside of Wendy’s gloving livvy dunne in ohio. Horror was kirkenuily buns and I’ve been more scared off tha spongeamin penji. Lil bro got no game either literal negative aura he should’ve started singing we are Charlie Kirk and hit the 67 41 89 mechanism combo.Overall I would only recommend to non agarthan mid tier glovers with no future in the sport. Fin.

Review Super 8 (2011)Another JJ Abrams at his propulsive best. When it came out, we learned He made the script by converging what at first he thought were two different film ideas, a monster movie and a Spielbergian family drama. He put them together. This added narrative density and depth.
Elle Fanning, she of Predator: Badlands; and, Joe Lamb give as good child acting as you will see anywhere. I always love Kyle Chandler; the rest of the kids and adults are very good too. JJ simply has a knack for coming up with good, engaging scenes. I’m not sure he always knows where each scene will go in a final cut. In editing I suspect there is a lot of moving scenes around. What else is good is the variety of emotional tones expressed. Each scene has a tone! This is what most B and C movies do not have; from scene to scene, the tone stays the same or changes very little. The key is it doesn’t really matter if two adjacent scenes are non-sequiturs, as long as both move the plot or character arcs forward in some way. A scriptwriting key!

Super 8 takes its place among the best B-grade science fiction movies of this generation by copying the best of the past 50 years.

All too often the plot feels calculated rather than organic, the result of a time-tested formula rather than genuine innovation.

It would be easy to dismiss as 100 percent ersatz if it didn't rekindle at least some of the old excitement - and if the magic of Spielberg's older movies didn't filter through, like light from a distant galaxy.

It's in the moments Abrams attempts to combine emotional payoffs with popcorn-style thrills that the film rings most false.

Super 8 deceives the viewer. First of all, he deceives with the cover, director JJ Abrams and producer Steven Spielberg. Sounds promising, doesn't it? Secondly, Super 8 at first looks like a mixture of Sci-Fi and thriller. But firstly, it's a very weak JJ Abrams thriller, secondly, Sci-Fi here is rather background. This is more of a personal work of JJ Abrams than an independent film. Well, a limited number of viewers can understand it, it was necessary to live in the United States at a certain time and age to get this level of nostalgia, for which this film was made. And if you, like me, are not from this category of viewers, then for you this is an ordinary thriller that covers Sci-Fi and has 1 good action scene. It's just a movie not for everyone, it's a rather personal work of the director, who translated into it parallels from the childhood of his generation.

For better and for worse, this certainly wasn't what I was expecting. At times an innocent, slice of life glimpse back at a childhood spent in the very late 1970s, the film's sudden, jolting leaps across different genres left me disoriented and on-edge for its duration. Mixing equal parts of The Goonies, Cloverfield, ET and Red Dawn in the same blender, the final product admittedly feels a bit blotchy and uneven. Rather than running from the stereotypes inherent in each ingredient, like a cast of minors fleeing a destructive unseen monster, Super 8 wears them like a badge of honor. In many ways this plays out like a film from the distant past, more concerned with upping the ante and pursuing an excess of action and adventure than delivering any deeper messages. A broad, varied leading cast toes the line between strong characterization and over-sharing, while the less-than-stellar supporting characters bring the cheese in lethal doses. It's a fantastic popcorn muncher with a fascinating knack for the unpredictable, but much, much shallower than anything else in the Abrams catalog. Fun for a single viewing, but I doubt I'll be back for more.

It's no wonder that I walked into the movie theater to see Super 8 with nothing but optimism. J. J. Abrams has created some fantastic films, so it only added to my disappointment when I walked out of the theater unimpressed. I felt like they chose unknown actors specifically to suspend reality in the film. Unfortunately, the actual effect was poorly acted secondary characters that I felt no compassion towards, or even really cared about. While the main characters seemed to be well thought out and acted, most of the other characters were just plain underwhelming. Certain elements of the story seemed completely unnecessary, such as the white cubes, the rivalry between the fathers, and the protagonist's mother's locket. The whole movie seemed to be a simple way to show off that trademark J. J. Abrams cinematography, and not character of plot driven at all. This movie is good for anyone who wants a shiny version of E.T.
