Rapace’s daring performance and Shainberg’s unique approach make Rupture a surprising slice of schlock that you won’t soon forget.

The one and only “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” is in jeopardy again in Rupture, a sci-fi tale of terror and torture porn whose title just might be a pun on “Rapture.”

A creatively ambitious bizarre sci/fi horror with an amazingly resilient performance by the wonderful Noomi Rapace. It does have some really schlocky aspects with the plotting and some of the cgi, but overall it's an interesting and semi complex film.

A little weak in plot, but otherwise it kept me interested. I've seen much worse!!

The truth is that what sinks the film is Shainberg’s insipid direction.

This is a plot that feels lazily reverse-engineered from a collection of disparate, pre-existing scenes and elements, rather like one of those cooking shows where contestants are given a selection of random ingredients and forced to come up with a meal.

Despite an intriguing premise, an impossible-to-buy plot contrivance and a deeply unsatisfying ending put paid to this sci-fi psycho-thriller.

Dreary, derivative and flat-out dopey, this dragged-out torture tale will disappoint even those whose hearts race whenever they see a female character strapped to a bed.

Rupture is a sci-fi abduction thriller that leaves little to be thrilled about.

There is some definite source of suspense, here, and a plot worthy of exploring, but the story comes secondary to the visceral torture-porn aspect that is far too common in movies of this ilk. Enjoyable for what it is, but you won't need to dig too far in to it.

"Oh no, Oh please no, Oh no, please no. " The entire movie in about a handful of words. You see, as every review has stated: the potential is there, but they squander it by looking at pointless prolonging scenes. Was there not enough content to create actual substance? What does this movie give you? As you watch, you should answer: entertainment. Except this movie does not do that. It does not become true horror, nor does it become some masterful surprise at the end. The movie is empty.

A single mother is abducted by a mysterious organization that injects chemicals into her and subjects her to fear-inducing experiences to further their dark agenda. She found many other captives who went through the same thing, in the facility where she was held captive. Each was forced to face and experience their worst fear as deliberate experiments. The settings of the facility were particularly unimpressive, with bad colour combination, nothing compared to the Saw series, which falls under a similar genre. It really spoils the whole film, since it's really visually crap to watch through. Scares and horror moments feel clichés and forced. Too many unexplained make the film feels incomplete towards the end, especially since a sequel usually seems unlikely with this type of bad film.

A film that had some intriguing ideas and wasted it on laughably written characters. Noomi Rapace gives a solid performance here, but the cast around her are hamming it up. Some of the dialogue and scene choices were terrible. It's not all bad but for the most part it's a disaster. D
