Ready Or Not is an exquisite horror comedy heavy on familial dysfunction, heavier on gameplaying brutality, and always a reminder that Samara Weaving deserves to be the biggest of megastars.

Для меня лучший ужастик, после первой части "Оно", становится именно этот фильм. Актерская игра главной героини, просто прекрасна, отыграла почти реалистично. Д и все актеры смотрятся очень приятно, и каждый играет на 10. Кого то жалко, кого то прям так и охото, чтобы его вывели поскорей из игры. Элементы комедии сделаны тоже на высшем уровне, не ловишь стыда от той или иной шутки. Все на высшем уровне. Рекомендую!

Ready or Not can be described as the fusion of dark comedy with the Grand Guignol. Unafraid to venture into cinematic taboo territory for its shocks and laughs, the movie doesn’t have many sacred cows. It’s the kind of thing we might have gotten if Monty Python had made a gothic-tinged horror movie.

While the mocking tone mostly undermines any trenchant commentary, the strongest impression Ready or Not leaves, thanks to Weaving’s eye-rolling, primal-screaming, evil-giggling performance, is of the cathartic, transformative female rage at the center of it all.

The problem with Ready or Not is that directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (“V/H/S”) don’t know what kind of movie they want to make, or what to do with their heroine. There are constant shifts in tone — is it a comedy, like the trapped-in-a-mansion “Murder By Death”? A satire on the rich? A kick-ass revenge picture?

A good mix of genres perfectly executed. Something we rarely see. Horror, comedy and mystery.
Samara Weavings performance is stunning. Her unconventional talent makes her stand out completely and instantly makes you understand why her character does this and that. She doesnt even need explanation to her character.
Other actors are good too. There are some overdone characters, in an Adams Family-manner, but still very believable and funny.
The dry humor is placed perfectly and often far too real (which of course isnt funny in real life).

Predictable yet entertaining horror/thriller/comedy lark. The cast is great and given the limited budget there is an excellent production quality to it. Sadly nothing quite special enough to elevate things above the average marker but it's clear this was made from a team that loved what they were creating.

Ready or Not suffers from the usual sin of being stuffed with tension-building filler, while having a protagonist that can't decide if she's a badass or a damsel in distress as she fumbles about making eye-rolling mistakes. It's not funny enough to be a comedy, not smart enough to be commentary, and gives up too much plausibility to be truly scary. Ultimately, it's just stressful and annoying.
