This revamp (which ignores several interim direct-to-video sequels Van Damme did not participate in) is a bit shorter, a tad more stylish, and utilizes the same clichés a little less ponderously.

I genuinely love the reboot of this franchise! Alain is amazing and a fantastic martial artist to boot ! I prefer this remake to the original the choreography is better ,you get a better sense of kurts anguish with what happens to his brother ,this remake improves upon its source material whilst being respectful not to diminish what cane before ! Oh and gsp has a great cameo ️

I have seen far worse, but with the Kickboxer name I wanted far better; you can almost sit on the fence with this, it is a cheasy action film and at the same time it has good acting, decent filmography and Christopher Lambert(yes that is worth a mention). This film writes its own story, so don't expect a retelling of the original, do expect some of the aspects of tried and failed, broken individual and turns to a teacher aspect(van dam). Its a decent movie with a boring start that picks up near the middle, It deserves mention for its quality, acting and action; its just not a great film in all, I hate the story and consistency with the previous films.

This reboot smartly doesn't try to escalate the material to bigger and better status, keeping things small and scrappy and relying on the fighters to be the best special effects.

Sure, the new action workout Kickboxer: Vengeance — a reboot of a foot-fighting franchise from the 1980s and ’90s — follows a tiresome martial-arts movie formula. But amid the hoary conventions are agreeable inklings of an alternate sensibility.

It relies less on in-camera stunts than editing that renders vague gibberish of the altercations.

While Moussi has ample skills as a fighter — and is plenty handsome to boot — he lacks Van Damme’s charisma. It turns out that just slapping the title “Kickboxer” onto a movie isn’t enough to revive a B-movie favorite. The actual kickboxer matters.

Perhaps only of merit to the hardest of hardcore Van Damme completists, Kickboxer: Vengeance is a rehashed, lackadaisical outing in need of goofy silliness and campy flair.

So damn disappointed with this movie. As a fan of Van Damme's movies since i was young i had high expectations on this one. But the only one who impressed me was Dave Bautista to be honest. The story is poor, the main actor has not the passion and charisma JCVD had and, as a coach, Van Damme was bad. There is no motivational speeches, encouragement or anything like it that you usually need in this movies. The turn around in the final battle is a joke.

look at the "kickboxing" shown in this movie, what a joke! Terrible martial art performance!

This was a joke, right? I thought it was a parody of the original Kickboxer, which btw i love! Horrible acting, hilariously pathetic story, probably one of the worst characters i've ever seen! The director of this movie should be banned for life! You think its all about muscles, muscles and...muscles? The plot is so bad and pathetic, that i was askin to myself "my does this thing even exists?".
