It’s all pretty predictable . . . This has the effect of making the finale, which actually takes an exit ramp off triumphalist clichés, genuinely surprising.

This schematic but sweet-natured comedy drama drives down a narrative track as straight and comfortingly predictable as an episode of Thomas the Tank Engine.

What a pleasant movie! Well acted. Tells a nice story where everybody grows. Has a nice ending. We rate it: "well worth watching".

Had it been more predictable it would have completely fallen apart, but the plot can boast of an honesty that, while emotionally manipulative, is at least sufficient for what it sets out to do.

The best one can say about I Used to be Famous is that, all things considered, it’s harmless, and not entirely charmless.

Not an accurate depiction of autism and the original music is terrible. The autistic kid's mom motivation doesn't make sense. In one scene she is protective and fearful, next allowing her son to play a gig in a bar with no explanation as to why she changed her mind. Overall, a nonsensical hot mess of a movie. I don't know how Ed Skrein was talked into this movie.
