The new version excels because it makes its teenage protagonist deeper and more mature — and its monsters extra frightening.

That bond between Hiccup and Toothless, mostly thanks to Thames’ impressive commitment, with that Powell score thrown in for good measure? Heavens, it’s simply glorious. And just like the original, you’ll want to experience it all over again.

Not me over here crying like the first time I watched the animated original! I will admit, I was skeptical about this movie because I generally don't like the live-action remakes, but I finally convinced myself to watch it and wow, am I glad! They didn't divert from the original story or fluff up any characters, it was all OG goodness! I think the casting was on point and the CGI was amazing. It was beautiful from beginning to end and I already want to watch it again.

The dragons are fine by today’s CGI standards. Toothless glistens, thankfully. Young audiences will be delighted.

No one needs a live-action remake, but ones this faithful and sweet are not the problem.

To be clear, Dragon is not the worst live-action remake this year — congrats to Snow White on holding onto that prize. It’s just a slightly distorted copy of what came before. Its best attributes are fully a credit to the original, while its worst qualities all come from the foolishness of adapting a movie that was just fine the way it was.

But having stuck the landing once (and a few more times), DeBlois doesn’t leave himself much runway to do something new and improved. This “How to Train Your Dragon” is merely longer.

All that’s really changed is that How to Train Your Dragon is now distinctly less charming and less playful than before, with even its pièce de résistance Toothless losing some of the cute factor (he looks real mean when he growls).

Filme exelente, é simples, mas prende sua atenção do começo ao fim, mesmo pra quem ja assistiu a animação e sabe tudo o que vai acontecer.

I was generally pleased with the movie and how it went. The music was fantastic, most of the acting was great, and, again, it was overall mostly enjoyable. The CGI was very good and enjoyable, the characters were nicely designed and I enjoyed the way they interacted a lot. Now the thing I did personally find REALLY annoying were the evergoing repetitions. The first part of the movie does a great job at showing the difficulties for Hiccup with going back and forth between his situations, but it's the just the same every. single. time. It slows the pacing of the movie down to what almost seems to be a halt which kind of pulled me out of the whole story. And since all of that took so much time, I personally find that it cut the story waaayyy short of what it could've been. The rest of the movie was short scenes flashing in one after the other. A missed opportunity in my opinion, but I also understand why they did it the way they did. There was a huge lack of emtions too. Let's just say... I wasn't very moved by the whole thing as I would have been by other movies. I wouldn't directly recommend watching it if you have other options, though I can't directly say it's bad either.

had some fun watching it when it was in some of the exciting moments but the dialogue and tone was actually kind of cringey and uncomfortable. "ASTRID"'s general performance and features actually made me abit uncomfortable as i did not enjoy a single scene with her in it as she was either scowling or giving the scene a bad look. Hiccup performed well and i was surprised by the effectiveness of some scenes that made me smile and feel something. Its a movie that if you dont feel too invested in it can be good background noise as it does have 3-4 good action scenes.

**Review and Suggestion for DreamWorks: Bring Back the Original “How to Train Your Dragon” Animated Series** I want to start by saying thank you to DreamWorks for creating one of the most meaningful animated franchises ever: *How to Train Your Dragon*. The original animated movies and series captured something special that is difficult to replicate—heartfelt storytelling, incredible character growth, and a unique bond between humans and dragons. What made the original animated version so powerful was its emotional depth and the development of characters like Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, and the rest of the Dragon Riders. Over the years, fans watched them grow from young Vikings into strong leaders while still keeping the themes of friendship, courage, and understanding. The animation style, music, and world-building created a magical experience that resonated with both kids and adults. Many fans feel that the original animated universe still has so much potential left to explore. There are countless stories that could be told about Berk, the Dragon Riders, and new dragon species. A continuation—whether through a new animated series, special episodes, or even a film set after the events of *The Hidden World*—would be incredibly exciting for longtime fans. Bringing back the original animation style and storytelling approach would also preserve the spirit that made the franchise so beloved in the first place. Animation allows dragons and their world to feel limitless in a way that perfectly fits the tone of the series. My suggestion is that DreamWorks consider creating a new animated project set in the same universe—perhaps following the next generation of riders, exploring unknown parts of the dragon world, or revisiting beloved characters. Even a limited series or anniversary special would mean a lot to fans who grew up with these stories. The *How to Train Your Dragon* franchise has already proven that animated storytelling can create unforgettable worlds and characters. Returning to that original animated format would celebrate what made the series so special and reconnect with the global community of fans who still love Berk and its dragons. Thank you
