A one-word assessment of this documentary: Tough. As in, tough to watch. Tough to consider. Tough to ignore.

This film ought to be seen. It isn't perfect; I found the first two-thirds more compelling the rest, but in this film are some scenes that I won't forget (e.g., Beijing, and the northeast coast after Sandy, and some astonishing graphics of deforestation). I liked the naturalistic style, which made it far more watchable and less "educational" - though it is that. Very much so, and validated by famous experts (there's a brief sequence of shots of each of them when they say nothing, and are silently taking in the grave import of what they're telling us: Just chilling.) I don't see too many people out there trying to do anything about climate change; I'm not. So thanks to the filmmaker for putting himself out there.

Good, but not great documentary about climate change. Definitely worth seeing if the subject matter interests you however. It was actually sort-of like 2 different films though. The first 45 minutes were VERY powerful and some of the best climate change content I have seen in a doc. But **** sortof loses steam as he went from interviewing important people in the first part about climate change and showing graphics and then real life footage of disaster and tying all these things **** the 2nd half is completely different where he looks at things that can be done to fight climate change and talks to people more about how to just think about climate change. So the 2nd half kindof drags on a bit, and was much less impactful than the 1st half, **** was definitely still a pretty well done doc, and is absolutely worth watching.

An environmental documentary that consists of roughly one-third doom-and-gloom to two-thirds wide-eyed optimism, and that is more potent in individual scenes than it is as a sprawling whole.

After speaking to several environmental experts, hiking for hours through the Amazon, and discovering just how momentous the threat of climate change is to humanity as we know it, documentarian Josh Fox made a film about himself.

There's no doubt that the people that Fox singles out are worthy of his cameras attention, but it doesn't equate to a coherent feature film as much as an enormously wasted opportunity.
