Marchese and Flower are clearly aware of the potential that their set-up has, and in attempting to submerge themselves fully into both themes, ultimately commit to neither.

You never have to wonder or try to understand what the characters are feeling because they never stop telling you how to feel. The answer, invariably, is sad and fearful, but From Black is neither, really.

One of the worst examples of split timelines I can ever remember. Just make a movie, the tension is ruined by this gimmick and it is offering nothing to the plot. Good monster design.
