Time Out
A survival epic full of mysteries and magic, it’s an animated epic worthy of Ghibli.

Though initially revolving around the attention to detail that takes center stage when creating a world of silent naturalism, the script from Zilbalodis and Matīss Kaža sometimes overpowers the incredible showcase of light, color, and movement with out-of-place cartoonishness.

A Beautiful yet Cruel Metaphor for Life and the Eternal Cycle of Disaster and Salvation250831 (3.2)This film is a profound and visually stunning metaphor for existence—a relentless cycle of calamity and redemption. As the water levels rise, threatening to swallow the world, we are reminded of the vital importance of self-reflection: never forget who you are as seen in the water's surface, the reflection of a mirror, or the eyes of those beside you. The journey follows a small, timid black cat who must learn to survive in a world returning to a primitive state, evidenced by the reappearance of prehistoric sea creatures. Along the way, an unlikely fellowship forms: a selfless Golden Retriever who guards the cat despite receiving "cat punches," a laid-back Capybara whose boat becomes a communal sanctuary, a clever Lemur who collects tools but struggles with greed, and a sacrificial Bird who acts as a maternal **** narrative beautifully captures the fluid dynamics of life. We see how someone who is strong in one world, like the walrus that repeatedly saved the cat, can become vulnerable and die when the environment shifts. It teaches us that while some may dislike us (like the rowdy dogs who break the precious mirror) and others may provide shelter, our survival depends on learning to help others in return. The loss of the Bird—a mother figure who dies from her injuries after being ostracized by her own kind—leads to a period of total isolation and despair for the cat. However, as if rewarding his endurance, the waters eventually recede to reveal a lush, renewed land. The ending, with a herd of deer running once again, suggests that this drama of life and survival is an infinite loop. It is a heartwarming yet sobering reminder that through every trial, we must continue to find our reflection in the world around us.

Flow is a visually stunning movie, sure. However, the plot itself feels formulaic and disjointed at times. If beautiful settings and landscapes are what you're looking for in a movie, go watch Flow. If you mainly care about a movie's story, however, I can't recommend it.

Overhyped and disliked watching at times. Story was just bad, and I didn't care about any of the characters. I felt like a lot was lacking. Music did not make up for lack of dialogue. If I had to watch wild robot, inside out 2 and flow I would do it in that order but just skip this one after watching the first 15 minutes

I have to say I’m severly disappointed. I went into this movie together with my wife expecting something really great given the hype around it and the fact that it won an Oscar over Inside Out 2. What we got instead was a pretty average (or even below average) animation with plot that for the most part did not make sense to us. I’m giving it a 3 because we got a few laughs from it here and there, but overall for the better part of the movie I was just wishing for it to end.
