Although Tamhane's film recalls Franz Kafka in its nightmarish vision of inhumane bureaucracy, Court is neither faceless nor surreal. Rather, the absurdity and numbness are all too human and as such even more frightening.

The way this movie progresses is one of the reasons why it's is a great film. To prove it's point, the story guides us through all kinds of humorous and even ridiculous moments. There aren't too many mainstream movies with this kind of energy.
