There’s a lot about the whole sorority phenomenon that could never fit within the narrow rectangle of a cellphone app. So “Bama Rush” widens the frame.

What it reveals is an exclusionary environment that views beauty, wealth, privilege, and conformity as the highest of ideals—and which seems, in some cases, to exacerbate the very problems these young women believe it will solve.

Really interesting movie… I feel bad that college girls have to go through so much crap just to find a society of women who will except them. And the number of people assaulting these women in the process is really obscene. The documentarian showed an amazing amount of courage in her own personal journey.

''The film explores the emotional complexities and high stakes of belonging in this crucial window into womanhood.'' This claim is mentioned in the documentary's description, but I personally did not witness any of these supposedly high stakes it claims to explore.
In my opinion, I found the documentary to be as empty as the subject it purports to criticize.
