Great value. [Feb 2011, p.103]
A good starting point for new players, and close to being a classic handheld Worms experience, Worms: Battle Islands also feels like a fifteen year old game with some new tweaks.

Personally, we love Team17's game, but the concept is starting to grate a little now. [Issue#201, p.99]

One of those titles that gives the PSP it's bad name. The controls, level-design, and overall gameplay are just poorly designed. At no point did I ever have any fun with it. Admittedly this style of gameplay has never appealed to me. I've experienced numerous versions of this game on various free-to-play flash game websites. Unfortunately this PSP version brings nothing new or interesting to the table. It's just an overall bad strategy game. I highly recommend you don't play it.

This is the same Worms we've been playing for a decade, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

With a 15 years history, Worms is one of the most loved and known brand in the entire Industry. Like all its modern ancestors, Battle Island lacks of innovation, offering a maybe too proven gameplay, but it's always a Worms chapter, and this is really more than enough.

Friendly controls and a wealth of customization options make Worms: Battle Islands one the most accessible Worms games to date. But it doesn't really offer anything new.

Only the most dedicated of fans, or someone who's never played a Worms game before should pick up Worms: Battle Islands. If you still want a Worms title for cheap, save some cash and pick up one of the other two titles already available on the PSP.

Classic Worms gameplay is still an option in Worms: Battle Islands, but there's nothing else to justify buying it if you've already done so 19 times before. [Issue#105, p.118]
