All the wacky weapons and wormitude are present in Worms 3D, but it offers far more frustrating moments than fun ones.

The series' charm is pretty intact, and the random game generator gives it legs (so to speak), but there's no online and the switch to 3D is really ragged. [Apr 2004, p.383]

If you are a fan of the Worms series, then by all means pick this one up. You will love it. If you are new to the Worms series, you might want to try one of the 2d ones first.

Never liked the Worms games, but for some reason my friends back in HS did, so i have played them a lot lol

I had so much fun with this one back in the days. The humour was great, gameplay was pretty fun and challenging at times because you needed to think strategically on how you should take turns with certain worms on your team, in various locations on the map. Unless you're by yourself. A lot of replay value on this one and great fun to play with your friends or family!

Turning the much loved Worms series into a 3D title certainly made sense at the time but this attempt simply didn't work. The 3D environment made aiming much more difficult than it was previously and without destructible environments much of the strategy, and therefore fun, of the originals was removed.

Although the game features some rough patches from a 3D engine that isn’t entirely seamless, Worms 3D has all the loveable qualities necessary to be worth a purchase.

This game is strategic and fun. I played it when I was a kid, and I really enjoyed it. The best in the series. It haves so many weapons to use, and some destructive bombs... and sheep :D!

The 3-D element didn’t change the overall elements of the game that made it great, and in addition it was a smooth changeover in my opinion that went surprisingly well.

Though the appeal wears thin a lot more quickly, it still has some thanks to the large amount of content and just the overall polish and humor of the game.

Technical shortcomings like an occasionally frustrating camera that impedes the view mixed with 3D-centric hurdles such as not being able to perceive distance seem to compile for a battle experience that is not quite as refined as the 2D outings.

The sheer amount of weapons helps make the game more interesting as does its sense of humor. Though, I must admit that while the game can be quite charming, a lot of the jokes tend to fall flat.

While Worms 3D essentially delivers what it says on the tin, in surrendering its intuitive interface the concept has evolved into a far less attractive proposition. A shame. [Dec 2003, p.126]

Worms 3D is a fun and challenging game. The game play is similar to anyone who's played a Worms game before but now the game is played within a 3D rendered world rather than a 2D platform. This is a neat addiction to the series but it can be tricky to aim your weapons and judge where your shots are going to land. However, this element does add a lot of strategy to the game; you need to be really good and learn to judge where the shots of your weapons are roughly going to land. The weapons from past Worms games make a return like the Bazooka and Sheep which are fun to use and Worms 3D introduces a new utility; Red Bull! Guess what this does to your worm! The graphics are nice and like past Worms games, terrain is fully destructible which are formed from explosions and usage of your weapons. Worms 3D is a neat idea, bringing 3D to the Worms series and every Worms fan should like this.

SummaryWorms comes to PC and console in full 3-D, continuing to capture the true essence of the game as teams of worms battle across bizarre, randomly generated landscapes, or across finely crafted, custom-designed levels utilising an arsenal of devastating weapons. The gameplay remains unchanged, featuring turn-based fighting and relying on th... Read More
