Even if some of Urban Myth Dissolution Center's mysteries are rather straightforward to solve, the overall experience is still reasonably enjoyable to amble through. If you're looking for a more laid-back occult mystery, it's here, but don't expect the myths to be too legendary.

Great as a visual novel, awful as detective game. The aesthetic is what will bring you to this game and it delivers (except in the gameplay sections, what's with the 4 bit graphics?) The only good story is the frame narrative, which for a game this long is unfortunate. Some people pan the ending, but I think it had awesome moments and ok moments ( the only bad one is the cyber attack, butt that is not part of the emotional journey anyway).

I personally really enjoyed this game. I ended up really enjoying all the charecters especially the main charecter Azami (she's literally me). Most of the cases were intriguing despite alot of the conclusions confusing me a bit but i suspect that it is just me not being the greatest at deducing mysteries that well or seeing the clues. I really like the art and the music is good. The ending though isn't that great. I personally didn't find it game ruining unlike some others but it definitely could be better.

If you can’t tell by now, I’m deeply in love with this game. I just don’t want to give away too much yet. But I believe it tells an important story about the made-up, easily digestible realities behind the complicated, horrible events in our day-to-day lives. About social media white knight justice as a feel-good spectator sport and how we treat tragedies, culprits, and their victims in our always-online world. This game couldn’t have come out at a better time. In light of recent events, perpetrated by the convenient realities many of us love to escape into, it is important to remember that the convenient truths that most of us can live with always have innocent victims we're not aware of until looking for them. But I guess there’s no Urban Myth Dissolution Center for that.

Leaning more into visual novel territory than detective work, Urban Myth Dissolution Center firmly guides you through some of the spookiest stories in contemporary folklore. Its striking pixel art and emphasis on social media as a tool for investigation lend it a unique charm, though it’s let down by repetitive gameplay and awkwardness in its narrative pacing. Worth a look for fans of creepypasta, but those keen on a more fleshed-out investigative experience may be left wanting.

TL;DR - Great pixel art, fun music, easy to read. However, very little gameplay and the story leaps over the shark in the last 45 minutes. Played it on Switch, not PC. I really wanted to love this game. I have never played a visual novel, and thought this one would be a decent enough starting point. I was engaged at first, but there is almost no true gameplay. You can't fail the investigations, you can't guess any incorrect answers, etc. It is an entirely on rails experience. The pixel art is truly remarkable and the music never got old. I still find myself humming the chapter end theme, very good stuff My real gripe though is the story. At first it is fine, not great but certainly serviceable. The ending is certainly a choice. For me, it didn't feel earned or all that compelling. Your mileage may vary of course, but it really soured me on the whole experienc.
