This game reminded me a lot of Silent Hill and Silent Hills, but with its own unique twist. I was really into the eerie story and the maze-like level design of Fort Oasis.
The monsters can be quite stressful and they're mostly well designed, but some of them are kinda funny to look at.
The combat mechanics are straightforward but effective, and you can make good use of the surroundings.
I found inventory management to be the toughest part, it can be quite overwhelming at first. It seems like I was just hoarding more than I needed, the game actually gives you a lot of stuff when you need it! Total Chaos is top-notch, it's a really good survival horror game that's been put together with a lot of love and skill.

Jogo maravilhoso. Joguei umas 35h. Muito medo do início ao fim, só não dou um 10 porque o final bom foi meio decepcionante. Poderia ter um algo a mais neste final. Final ruim foi perfeito.

**Total Chaos** is a horror game with an excellent atmosphere, and its sound design and music really amplify the fear factor. However, its flaws make it hard to keep playing. One of the worst aspects is the inventory system—it’s very difficult to manage resources and control with a gamepad, and it’s not designed to be user-friendly at all. The game doesn’t offer a deep or complex story; it focuses more on scaring you than telling a meaningful narrative. The gameplay is playable, but certain moments can be frustrating and make the experience tiring.

Somewhat fun, but quite repetitive experience. Unfortunately, it was the combat that just didn't click with me after a while.

A very stuffy and repetitive game. It consists entirely of stuffy and monotonous corridors, completely unremarkable. I imagine this is a throwback to the 90s. Every shooter and first-person game back then was like this. Many mechanics are stolen from other games, like STALKER: the backpack, menu, loot, and interface are all taken from there. And the crafting and melee weapons are from Dying Light. These are decent mechanics, but they're not original and don't bring anything new. The game is also very drawn-out, very long. The narrative is unclear, the plot is uninteresting—another Silent Hill-style **** game's technical condition is excellent; UE5 looks beautiful and modern. Some horror sequences are well done, but otherwise it's stuffy and repetitive. An average game.

A very underrated game and a horror masterpiece in my opinion. Absolutely terrifying. Keeps you unnerved and creeped out most of the time with genius audio design and dark, moody visuals. Some scary monster design and brutal, visceral combat keeps you on your toes. The story is just OK though, and the inventory management can be a bit of a pain, but if you enjoy games like FEAR and Condemned you have to try this.

Finished the game on Survivalist difficulty for my first playthrough. I’ve been gaming since I was 3 years old, and I can honestly say this is easily among the top 10 games of all time for **** graphics, combat, and overall presentation are outstanding—especially the sound design and atmosphere, which are absolutely perfect and incredibly immersive. I did encounter a few issues with collision boxes, but they were minor and not deal-breakers by any means.P.S. A lot of the low scores seem to come from people who aren’t familiar with hardcore survival games. If that’s the case… maybe stick to Mario Kart—this game clearly isn’t meant for you.

Totally ****’s an utterly frustrating game. labyrinths, constantly collecting unnecessary items, weapons that breaks quickly, and a huge number of enemies. It’s not even scary just plain boring.
Graphics are good tough.

Xbox version is pretty busted. Past a certain point there’s absolutely no healing items so your always one hit from death in a game that has hordes of enemies around every corner. Game feels unfinished, buggy, janky, and unfair to a point that doesn’t make it fun at all.

High scores saying things like "2025's greatest survival horror!!!" have to be paid reviews, devs, friends of devs, etc. Because this game is a complete slog. All of the comments from the low score are very accurate. I suggest reading the bad reviews because those are the ones that are telling the truth. Boring, repetitive, terrible combat, no map, breakable weapons, not even slightly scary, etc. etc.

For me personally, this game is not only a good gameplay with an interesting story, but also a life-affirming project that I will miss. The graphics are nice, and a lot of things are hand-crafted rather than AI-generated. The same goes for the hand-crafted lighting, which deserves **** gameplay and management are well-designed, making you think about your actions rather than just brute-forcing. The combat system offers a variety of approaches. From parrying and dodging, to throwing bottles and weapons to stun the enemy. Also, dodging the enemy will stun them, giving you more room to maneuver. Enemies help with variety, as each one has its own unique characteristics. For example, electric monsters can be easily defeated by throwing vodka, as it will ignite and completely burn the monster. Similarly, surrounding lights have the same effect on other enemies when alcohol is **** plot has become more readable compared to the GZDoom mod, but it hasn't lost its naturalism. I can believe in the story and and in all the consequences that arise in the game.
Although we rarely use firearms, this is what gives them their significance. Every shot becomes enjoyable, as it is much easier than close combat. The music is oppressive, as it should be. The rare moments of rest feel truly necessary and calming. Akira Yamaoka's composition titled "Catharsis" will remain in the music album forever. This is not an AAA project. But for the amount of money that was invested in it and the quality that we received, I can confidently say that it has a soul. And that's what I appreciate the most.

What did Akira Yamaoka do exactly? I couldn't tell you, I don't think I've heard the soundtrack in my 4 hours playing. The sound design isn't particularly good either. The voice acting exists, not particularly good, just muffled whispers under static. It has gameplay, it sure does, very clunky feeling melee. Very basic menus. Average graphics, everything has that weird squished look that is standard for games made with Unity. There's no energy to the story, which is probably strange to say. There just doesn't seem to be anything that catches my interest. You are nameless man, you end up on Island with monsters, something something your wife and your past. The game doesn't really care to make any of it interesting. It could be punchier. This is one of those cases where less is not more. It's just less. This feels like a student project. Something you'd "pay what you want" on as part **** jam and if that were the case it would rock, but that isn't the case.

jeu sympa. graphisme ok. Excellente fluidité, mais animations des ennemis moyennes.. et gestion des touches compliquées..

you die and reload the screen, don't skip the cutscene, you will watch it over and over againthe blood is too little, the monsters are too many, besides you bleed to the point that the monster touches you once and you will die, dodging costs more than 1/2 of your stamina bar, hitting the monster 3 or 4 times will drain you and you can't dodge, the only option is to block the attacks, if you are an amateur I advise you to stay away from this game, it is not for everyone

Total Chaos is a remarkably well-thought-out and carefully designed game. Its modern graphics and atmospheric presentation push the boundaries of the FPS–horror genre, giving it the potential to stand out as a true pioneer. The loot system is generally well-implemented, adding tension and reward to exploration, though at times it can slightly disrupt the game’s pacing.Despite that, Total Chaos delivers an impressive price-to-performance experience. It’s absolutely a title worth picking up if you’re looking for an immersive, unsettling, and thoroughly engaging time.

I had not logged into metacritic for years and went through the effort of resetting my account just to review this game. The current review score is insane. This game feels old AF to play. I have a lot of issues with it including the menus, navigation, crafting, and controls all feeling ancient but I would have forgiven all that if the combat had been good but it is awful. Everything feels completely weightless, it's repetitive and boring, the game has missed several inputs, if you take even a tiny scratch the screen turns red and your avatar starts groaning like they're missing a leg. This is easily the worst of the 60 plus games I have played this year.

Fantastic little horror game. It was made by a single person and its quality shows through its horror atmosphere and gameplay!

The game's atmosphere isn't bad, but the lack of a map can be quite tedious. Constantly having to figure out where to go can be tedious. The game moves at a constant pace, lacking any surprises. The animations are strange. The fights are lackluster. Overall, I didn't like the game; it could have been much better.

It was alright till hide-n-seek episode. I HATE this mechanic with burning passion, because it's just brainless retry-fodder with no content whatsoever. If it was hide-n-seek game from the beginning, I would just skip it altogether. But this crap appeared only in chapter 3, so I already wasted my time on just-above-mediocre horror to drop it due to mechanic I won't engage in my life.

Awesome. We should support modders who make their own projects like this. Especially when they're this high quality.

An all-around improvement from it's origin as a Doom 2 mod, Total Chaos is perhaps 2025's greatest survival horror as of today. The atmosphere, story, combat dynamics and inventory management makes a well served dish of dread with a spice of anxiety, as one goes deeper into the burrows of Fort Oasis.
