Highly recommended for the best scenario production game in this series. It would be great if you started playing this game after seeing the full version of the manga.

Muv-Luv Alternative is a worthy continuation of the original masterpiece, "Muv-Luv". It picks up directly from the ending of the second part, "Unlimited", and throws you into a vast, meticulously crafted world. The depth with which the military and political aspects are portrayed is commendable and provides a strong foundation for the story's events. Despite the intricate political subplots, the real heart of the narrative lies in its characters — and this is where the work truly shines. Every character plays a distinct and essential role, and the dialogues and interactions are so well-written that it's easy to become fully immersed, to the point of losing track of **** plot twists are brutal and completely unexpected — some of them will stay with you **** the characters experience significant growth throughout the story, and the protagonist in particular undergoes a remarkable journey, shifting from light-hearted and playful moments to traumatic events that ultimately lead to a deeper reflection on the very meaning of **** of this is enhanced by a technical presentation that, for the time of its release, is genuinely impressive — full voice acting, back-sprites, animations, music, and more. Muv-Luv is a hidden gem. Make the effort to get through the first and heavier entry (Muv-Luv), because the journey is absolutely worth it.

This game has very depressing, shocking but intriguing story. One of the best visual novels I've ever played.

This gets recommended a lot as the best visual novel. I found it much too drawn out and did not find that much to like either. It is barely passable for its length, just wait for the anime.

The Muv-Luv trilogy as a whole is one of the greatest stories ever written and everyone should experience it. I recommend it to any and everyone, regardless of what you're opinion on visual novels is. Alternative was the ultimate finale to a truly phenomenal story. No story has affected me as much as this one. No story has made me as emotional as this one. No story has broken me like this one. This story comes highly praised and hyped, and it deserves all of it. Across all mediums: books, games, movies, TV, etc.; very few stories compare to the Muv-Luv trilogy. And yes, I mean the TRILOGY. If you ever plan on diving in to Muv-Luv, do NOT start with Alternative! You'll be doing yourself a huge disservice. The first two games may seem unnecessary, but it isn't until Alternative that you realize just how important these game are to this story. - An absolute masterpiece of a story - An absolutely phenomenal cast of characters - Depression - An absolute banger of a soundtrack 10/10

Easily the best VN I've ever read. Incredibly engrossing with real character development and constant, interesting plot development. Could rant for forever about how good this game is but I'll just say it's the top on VNDB for a reason.

Words can't describe how incredible it is. Genuinely life changing. For how many works of art can you say the same? There is a reason why half of the ratings on VNDB are 10-point (twice as many as 9-point ratings), an insane record given the strict standards there. Unlikely to be paralleled by anything in the ACG industry, especially given how the industry is subjecting itself to lower and lower standards in recent years. Everybody should read it as soon as possible. Such a shame it never got made into anime and thus probably never got the recognition it deserves.

This is the type of visual novel you hope makes it to the West. The type of visual novel you hope can show the potential for this genre, and capture the interest of those who are curious enough to give it a try. It was intricate, emotional, funny, and profoundly entertaining. The mature and serious approach to telling the story, and the depth with which every point in the story unfolds along with the characters left me unable to stop reading until I finally finished it. Reading the prequels in Muv Luv (Extra & Unlimited) takes some time. But it is all set up to make this game the only other game that can stand alongside Steins Gate in my eyes, just by virtue of how emotional and gripping the story is throughout. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to be told a fantastic story, no matter what device you choose to read it on. In fact I urge you to make it one of your TOP priorities if you plan to play it 'eventually'. I put it off for a couple years, and then just started up the trilogy on a whim. Two weeks later and I've finished it all. Now my life can resume... You won't regret it!
