Although it delivers an abundance of horrifying imagery, the indiscriminately gratuitous Lust for Darkness falls short of delivering a truly engaging Lovecraft-meets-sex-cult experience throughout its brief three-hour play time.

Despite tricky subject and intention to shock this rather simple adventure game (with some stealth touches) managed to escape unintended comicality by delivering a solid, mature tale set in a twisted and internally consistent (therefore believable) world. [08/2018, p.80]

Beneath Lust For Darkness' great atmosphere and creative imagery lies a very average game.

Story is very simple and not very unique. It's not really scary beside few jump scares moments. I really enjoyed disign of the other dimensions and in my opinion it is where the game shine. Combat with the final boss is totally unnecessary and just frustrating. It's short and relatively easy.

I’m so delighted to say that Lust For Darkness is the real deal. The fact that I can compare it to one of the greatest erotic thrillers of all time in Eyes Wide Shut, and not break down laughing, is in itself is a great credit to the developers. The game lacks the sheer mastery and refinement that Stanley Kubrick had over his canvas, but this is still leagues ahead of the clumsy, overly-simple idea of “horror” that most game developers aspire to.

There is not an ounce of atmosphere in the middle between eros and Lovecraft that should have characterized Lust for Darkness.

Lust for Darkness is an erotic psychological horror that relies too heavily on the shock value of nudity and gore in a way that that isn't handled with any level of maturity or seriousness nor has the gameplay chops to back it up. A couple of cheap jump scares is all you'll really take away from this short budget title.

Underneath it all there’s genuinely something interesting here – it just needed to be more focussed, polished, moulded into a vision instead of left as a loose idea. The gameplay and story need working on heavily in their own way. I’d definitely come back to check on a sequel but it would be out of wary curiosity, not excitement. Still, I think a lot can be done in this space and hope to see something special come from it in the future.

Very catching story and nicely written plot. Artwork of high quality. Mechanics of play smooth. Game well tested. Good job devs.

Graphically pleasing, it's clear that a great care was put into the body modelling and body animations, also all the otherworldy models look beautiful with their lightning and colour. The gameplay is a little rough around the edges, especially the interaction with the various objects. Also the story isn't very long and doesn't offer replayability, unless you want to collect every single secret page. 2-3 hours long

It's better than 5/10, but definitely has some not so great moments. I had a fun time, I'm going to rate it 7/10. You could spend some money on this gem, but don't get me wrong, wait for a sale or something.

It's a dry mess. The ideas are good, but the execution is awful. By the time I finished the game, I wasn't asking any questions, just relieved it was just over. This game ****. The voice acting isn't that good, or inspired, and the gameplay is barebones to the core.
SummaryA psychological horror of seeking satisfaction on the border of two intertwining worlds. An intriguing plot with erotic and occult themes guides the player's character through the Yelvertons' Victorian mansion and a perverse land inspired with Lovecraft's works and paintings of Zdzisław Beksiński.
