This game is regarded and I love itHas an artstyle I admire, creates such a weirdcore atmosphere through the art, animation and psychedelic music. This and the first game is such a trip, it seems all very improvised yet has a foundation and reasoning behind the grounds of the plot / characters. As for the enemies and 90% of what you see in the game is total bollocks, but the bollocks are nice and juicy. I don’t play many rpg’s but I do like them. It took a bit of time to get used to the “platforming” of hylics 2 compared to 1’s basic top-down movement, but thank **** it had controller support. Manoeuvring the **** landscapes of hylics 2 is a challenge in itself and I like how **** yet imaginative everything is. The gameplay loop and combos of special attacks and charges up between your team members are actually more engaging compared to the first game’s combat style. Everything feels a lot more involved and satisfying when you start to triumph enemies. The craftsmanship behind every detail or mass of clay is really cool to see and hylics 2 being more animated and lively than the first is great too. I admire it a lot, and it was a lot of fun / funny seeing all the silly dialogue, goofy creatures and silly item names

To put it simply, Hylics 2 is what it would be like if your weird meaningless dreams turned into a surprisingly good turn based RPG.

Hylics 2 completely subverts the typical RPG genre tropes with a very unique visual style which i can safely say is one that oozes of style every second that you play. Every frame of this game can be held up as a piece of art. The RPG combat in this game is absolutely wonderful too. This game is a must try for RPG fans or for those who deeply appreciate art.

This game is awesome. It's a shame it's very underground and doesn't even have a Metacritic score. It's one the most stylish and original games I've played, and the art direction is unmatched. The visuals and soundtrack are enough to justify playing this, even with the basic gameplay. I'm giving it a 10 to incentivize this type of game, give it a chance!

Hylics 2 is a weak JRPG that fails to build on the strength of its precursor. Hylics 2 is significantly more complex than Hylics but virtually none of this added complexity improves upon the original. Hylics 2 does not understand what it is and stretches itself too thin attempting to branch into JRPG combat, isometric and 2d platforming and first person "Grimrock style" exploration. Hylics 2 does none of these gameplay styles well and should have focused on really polishing the foundation the original Hylics Set. Hylics 2 features improved art and narrative but an overall weaker soundtrack. I am unable to recommend Hylics 2 even to those allured by its art style.

a more disappointing sequel than The Last of Us 2. I'm not even sure where to start, but Mason Lindroth practically took everything that made Hylics 1 incredibly good and threw it all out of the window.
