Abyssmal performance makes it impossible to play. The performance is considerably worse than it was in the demo, due to higher detailed maps. Without optimization this is unplayable.

I can only give the game a 5 in its current state of Early Access. While playing the Demo which has been available for 2 years or so, I have watched the combat evolve and grow into something truly special and unlike any other game i've played over several decades. However the EA combat is a significant down grade from what the demo has grown into. Once several updates are made to the combat to restore the greatness which the Demo version achieved, then I would score it at a 10. Until then, the game is only half as enjoyable as it once was.

Coming from the demo, theres a lot of steps up and some step downs due to the radical change the ea brings, the phisics change is fine but some problems such as the wrists can be quite annoying sometimes, but a lot of people tend to forget that this game is in early acess, we are currently testers, OUR view of the game will shape what it will become, and i am pleased with the current state of ea knowing it can only get better from here.

Great and innovative Game. The gameplay and the graphics are great. Only problems are in the Performance and the progression Mode, which as of writing this review is a bit short and lackluster in the amount of modes provided.

Game is... okay. I'm not going to say it's good in it's current state but it's definitely quite the improvement.

It’s honestly impressive how they managed to make it worse than the free demo. The game runs like a slideshow, and there are stutters and FPS drops the moment you see blood on screen or enter a forest map, no matter your **** most importantly, the controls went from having a ‘learning curve’ to outright broken and unresponsive. You’re fighting against the jank and bad controls more than the enemies. It’s a clunky and unoptimized mess. It feels like a huge step backwards. Just play the free demo.

Half Sword earns this 8/10 by doing something remarkably rare in the modern world of games. It simply refuses to be anything other than exactly what it is. In an industry littered with companies chasing trends, copying successful formulas, and stuffing in content to increase the price tags, Half Sword stands apart as a genuinely singular creation. Its physics-based combat doesn't try to emulate the swordplay of AAA titles. Instead, it embraces the clumsy and terrifying example human reality and what it actually meant to fight in 15th-century Europe. Armour matters. Momentum matters. A misplaced swing can send your own blade bouncing back into the ground or sky, and that is not a bug — that is the point. The developers have leaned hard into historical authenticity, modelling real weapons, genuine armour, and the brutal efficiency of medieval combat in a way that feels educational as much as it does entertaining. There are no flashy combos handed to you, no glowing weak points, no hand-holding. Just steel, physics, and consequence. What makes it unique to me though, is the spirit behind it. This is a game built by people who clearly cared far more about realising a unique creative vision than maximising revenue, and that passion bleeds through every chaotic, wonderfully wonky moment of play.
From what I've seen there is more content to come. Basically saying were going to be getting more dessert for this meal. I'm definitely interested the upcoming dialogue system as me and my friends are story people, which is why we like the intro so much. Hopefully as time progresses the performance issues will begin to be alleviated and, hopefully, become what its meant to be. A comfort game you can play when you either want to relax, show off your skills, or just slaughter a bunch of mercenaries in 15th century Europe. Fingers crossed. 8/10

This game is looking incredibly promising in early access, just needs to iron out a few optimization issues and add more content. But there is nothing else like it.

In the physics game like this, the possibilities for one of kind interactions is near endless. I'm a seasoned player of this game and it's demo/playtest and can confidently say that you will always find something new in each encounter, usually when you expect it least.

A very solid game, (even though I've only played the demo) that keeps getting updated and has a very active community on sites such as Discord. It's an incredibly realistic physics-based medieval fighting game, and it does exactly what it advertises extremely well. A solid 9/10, do try it.

It’s a neat little indie game, devs have been hard at work taking feedback from the community so it’s only a matter of time it improves and gains the vitality that it deserves.

While the game is still in its early state, the devs have been updating almost daily to ensure a smooth experience. If you are into medieval combat and ragdoll physics, this game is as accurate as you will get on today's game market. Very satisfying game to play, especially when you get good at being precise with the weapons.
