Dead in Antares
Replay isn’t the attraction in Dead in Antares. The mystery and characters are the headliners. The strategy layer is just interesting enough to stay engaging. The graphics and sound have progressed, but the basic skeleton of the game remains the same. Dead in Antares is a worthy cap to the end of the Dead In trilogy.
Dead in Antares, from developer Ishtar Games and publisher Nacon, is an impressive game that is led by survival management, player choice, and paying attention to crew members’ attributes and stats. The gameplay lies within its details and depends on players making a logical decision on how best to keep the crashed crew alive in the game. It can be overwhelming for those uninitiated to the series, but it’s impressive nonetheless.
Dead in Antares is beautiful in art style and sound, and delivers a resource management experience that will keep any genre fan happy. Its turn-based battles might be the weakest link in the package, but in the face of everything the game does right, it’s easy to overlook a few dragged-out battles in exchange for that feeling of satisfaction you get when every crewmember is fed, happy, and working to save humanity.

This could have been so much better, however, the terrible characters you get to play with along with the repetitive gameplay really make this one for the bargain bin. The character art is stiff and poorly done, these don't look like normal people. As for the writing, that's probably the worse part. The turn based battles are ok though. However, do yourself a favour and spend your money elsewhere as there are a ton of brilliant similar type games available especially at this price or cheaper.

To summarize my previous ramblings, I honestly loved what I was presented in Dead in Antares. It truly did feel as though each of the decisions that you made had some level of impact on the rest of your gameplay and didn’t just feel like going through the motions because we had to. Coupled with the gorgeous artwork, ambient soundtrack, and interesting story, Dead in Antares was a solid entry in my gaming logs and has definitely nudged me to check out the other properties from Ishtar Games.
