Constantine's narrative is compelling enough, and some excellent puzzles save it from the ignominy of being yet another average third-person movie tie-in, but only just... Yes it's uncomplicated, but still an engaging realisation of the source material. [Apr 2005, p.99]

It's pretty much as we had expected: another generic film license that was probably built to a set timescale and with a limited scope.

Constantine the game is supposed to be in the horror genre just like the movie, but it simply fails to scare even just a little bit.

One of those movie to video game cash grabs. Not as good as Dino Crisis or Resident Evil.
7
A horror-themed action game that will appeal to fans of "The Suffering". Featuring a Keanu Reeves-soundalike, "Constantine" expands upon the movie's plot. You'll use various firearms, melee weapons and spells to eradicate demons. But this isn't just a simple shoot 'em up. Every enemy and boss character has a unique weakness. And every level features puzzles, hidden upgrades and cards that unlock artwork. If you liked "Enter the Matrix", than you'll enjoy this. I would rate it with a 7.3 out of 10.

Keanu Reeves? Check! Movie-to-game joy? Check! Horror/action? Check! Lots of lore from the movie/comic books! Check check check! A rare treat for the very underrated movie. It is more or less a backstory for the movie, plus it introduces friends and foes that were touched upon or absent from the movie, as well as re-introducing some who we already know, like Papa Midnite, Angela Dodson, and Father Hennessey. On Xbox, the game really shines in terms of graphics, and the controls are very easy to get used to (definitely compared to the convoluting ones on PC!!!). As you progress the game you come across more viscous enemies, lore (unlocked by collecting tarot cards) and upgrades/weapons/spells to guide you in your fright filled quest. The voice acting is the best...even though Constantine is not voice by Keanu himself, the tone and attitude is very lovable just like in the movie. This is the one of the best action games allied to a movie that I have played, and was as much fun as the movie.

A bit too dark (as in "no light"), linear and uninventive. It is also strangely entertaining. [Mar. 05]

Once you get a few levels into the game, you start to see the purpose and role of each weapon, and Constantine encourages you to think strategically about how to take down enemies.

This game was awesome great graphics, gameplay, environments and so much more a real gem

Let's imagine for a moment that Constantine's only way into Heaven was to make a great videogame, and he turned this one in as his submission-I'm afraid he would already be on his way down to the lake of fire for an eternal purgatory lunch date with a certain Mr. Satan.

A very average game and one that is for fans of Keanu, the movie or those who are simply bored and looking for a title to rent.

A mix of detailed cut scenes and graphically pleasing levels helps move the adventure along, but cannot cover up what is essentially a derivative and straightforward action game hanging its hopes on a movie licence.
46
While the potential for what one could do in the video game world of Constantine was unlimited, it is ultimately not realized due to the fact that action is the same throughout the whole game and is only carried by adding a slightly different objective for each stage.

No joke, I actually fell asleep playing the game, and it was only 3 o' clock in the afternoon!

A clunky, but fun shooter that will appeal to fans of "The Suffering" and "Shadowman". The game expands the plot of the movie and features a Keanu Reeves-soundalike. Constantine fights demons with various firearms, melee attacks, spells and throwable weapons. Light strategy is needed to defeat specific enemies and bosses. And each level features light puzzle solving, hidden upgrades and collectible bonus cards that unlock artwork. Fans of "Enter the Matrix" and "Ghost Rider" will enjoy this ride. I would rate it with a 7.2 out of 10.

When he teams up with sceptical policewoman Angela Dodson to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister, their investigation t... Read More
