Beacon Pines is a charming indie game that puts the player at the centre of a fairy tale adventure as it develops one chapter after another, with our acts having consequences on the game's plot. While the game's focus is not on an action-packed experience, the lovely art style and soundtrack and the way it balances between a kid-friendly look and gloomier and sinister environments makes Beacon Pines a thrill in its own league.

Beacon Pines presents a rich world filled with deeply considered, not to mention adorable, characters. The beautifully crafted art, paired with a soundtrack that both captures and sets the mood, make for a wholly enjoyable experience. It might not be for those who prefer action, but it is a lovely and compelling story that sees Luka, Rolo and Beck delve into a bevy of unique situations. You might finish it in less than a work day, but it’ll stay with you for much longer.

Beacon Pines is a well-thought-out and adorable little mystery narrative game that is a perfect way to relax and unravel an ever-changing story that you control.

Details were A1, story was really engaging, anti-capitalist narrative clever, characters endearing, concept really smart, we end up being a character since we have info that characters don't.

It is not for someone looking for adventure, but the style, story, and mechanics (in terms of the branching, choose-your-own-adventure) of the game are solid. Moving around is a bit tedious at times (having the option to run or sprint would've been great, though there's enough in each 'scene' to explore), there could've been more "cut scenes" wrt Luka's dreams (as one reviewer pointed out), and I thought there could've been more to click on rather than just (mostly) people, but overall it's a very fun, engaging little game that's executed exceptionally well.

Heartwarming graphic adventure with charming Art style and Relatable characters, a bit short and the third art feels a little rushed still a great game if you like this genre, totally recommended.

While it might be listed as a cute and creepy summer adventure in a PR blast, that doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of what it truly offers. Rather, it’s wonderful coming-of-age story about a young boy still grieving, creating powerful friendships, and finding his “true” happy ending.

If you like adventure games or just want to enjoy an interesting, well-written story with a pleasingly dark vibe, Beacon Pines will serve you well. It’s a thoroughly engrossing tale that pulls you in further the more you play it. Perhaps a little too substantial to explore in a single session, but you’ll likely find yourself wanting to see it all the way through in one go. Add in a superb presentation with gorgeous visuals and excellent narration, and you’ve got a winner.

Easily one of my favorite games of all time. Everything about it is perfect to me. It has a fun structure with the storybook frame and the various words/charms to impact the story. These characters are fleshed out and nuanced – my opinions on several people changed completely as I played. The art style is literally my favorite I've ever seen. Definitely cried. I know I'm gushing, but this is honestly such a great game and worth a play!

A wonderful, emotionally engaging game that you will miss once it’s over. If you enjoyed Night in the Woods, you will surely love Beacon Pines. The music, art, dialog, narration, and story are all top notch, and it’s just so dang cute. The branching paths are a really creative and clever way of revealing the story to the player and developing the characters by showing how they would react in different scenarios. I will admit I got teary eyed at more than one point. 10/10 my favorite game of the year.

Beacon Pines is a fantastic game with clever systems that enrich its characters, world, and masterful storytelling. With a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass, this is a must-play for fans of narrative-focused games and leaves one excited about what Hiding Spot Games will make next.

Beacon Pines is an adventure that takes shape before the player's eyes, but the gameplay feels so much limited because of the narrative. Despite that, it tries to tell a meaningful arc that overshadows its shortcomings by delivering a coming-of-age story in which it is worth diving.

As Beacon Pines releases, it is amongst other adventure games Wayward Strand and Return to Monkey Island. Adventure game fans have been spoiled for games, and with Beacon Pines, we have another enjoyable story to play through. As every story branch unlocked, I looked forward to where it led next. If you want a narrative adventure game with an exciting mechanic, then you should make the trip to Beacon Pines.

Beacon Pines is a cozy and fun game with perfect comic-style graphics and an addicting story. The perfect adventure for those who love dark atmospheres but don't like to get too scared.

One of the very best narrative adventure games you could invest in. In a genre that is becoming more and more crowded with sub-par efforts, this is a true gem. I give it a solid 9 in reality but scored it a ten on here to help offset the reviews of ignorant blowhards that love to post reviews without have any fact-based intelligence to back their moronic opinion (looking right at you, Nintendist)

Probably the best story based narrative game I have played, it does something uniquely well.

I suppose this is what passes for a game now. Beacon Pines is a meretricious adventure game with some mystery and atmosphere on the level of Scooby-Doo. It is essentially a visual novel with basic movement and no real gameplay to speak of other than minor choices you can make of the choose your own adventure variety. The novel part is not be overlooked, as there is a lot of reading here, which wouldn't be bad if the writing weren't so terrible. The story is saccharine and sentimental, and the artwork is cute in a furry convention sort of way. There's also a time rewinding mechanic that allows you to revisit and change your past decisions like Groundhog Day. Although quite polished, this game is just bad gameplay tied to bad writing, and I was bored throughout its entirety, speeding through trite dialog with glazed eyes. I don't recommend this for anyone over the age of 10.

this game is terrible, the gameplay is so bad and the soundtrack is very annoying.
SummaryBeacon Pines is a cute and creepy adventure set within a mysterious book. You play as both the reader of the book and its main character, Luka. Something strange is happening at the old warehouse, and Luka and his friends seem to be the only ones taking notice. Sneak out late, make new friends, uncover hidden truths, and collect words...
