Animal Crossing New Horizons is basically perfect. Full of wholesome content that helped us cope with the COVID-19 pandemics, the game keeps the heart of its predecessors while innovating enough to make it unique. It may not have won Game of the Year but it'll be the game we all remember from 2020, for sure.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a stunning new instalment in the Animal Crossing franchise, hindered only by its lack of immediate content, quality of life issues and missing returning characters and features While future updates will give the game long-term playability, for those already sipping vacation juice on their five-star islands, island life feels pretty mundane right now.

I'm notoriously lacking in patience, but Animal Crossing has always had a charm to it that allowed me to tolerate its time wasting bollocks. Considering New Horizons wants you to work just to get to Animal Crossing's usual brand of time wasting bollocks has eliminated that tolerance.

2020 safe place, never got me bored after 6 years and 350 hours of play. Possibilities are endless since it's full of items and ways to personalise them and the island itself, and the collecting of fish, insects and so on is addicting to me. Only con, after some years it got left out by Nintendo without a true successor (which appears to be Pokopia lately). However, it's still THE cozy game on Switch platforms.

It's my happy place. It'd be nice if it had better multiplayer, less room building focus, more holidays and a free camera. There's so much room for improvement and yet I love this game. The contrast from beginning to having a flourishing beautiful town of my own creation a year later. Enjoying Real world holidays in game. I like to write letters to myself +1 month to guess how the past month played out in real life. I fall asleep playing it all the time and it doesn't matter. I can't wait for the next game.

I’m so sorry to all the animal crossing fans out there but this game was not for me. Even tho it looks nice and cozy the gameplay loop is sooo tedious and the gameplay is very clunky for my taste. I honestly didn’t understand the game and it just felt like I was wasting my hours instead of enjoying them so I sold it to a friend who apparently loves it

The latest Animal Crossing is also the best, full of life, charm, and near-endless ways to make your very own island paradise.

After 6 years and hundreds of hours played, I still routinely check in on my island and renovate areas. Any game that spends the better part of a decade in regular rotation is a 10/10.

Incredibly good, one of the best games of the switch 1 generation easily, so much to do long term. I know many people with over 1000 hours in this game alone

Start from scratch on a deserted island, collect resources to help its growth, form a small community, progress to get an idyllic place we dream of and, when we think that there is nothing else on the horizon, millions of players will share with us their own vision of our own story. A different and deep game, something that is undoubtedly a sensation that lovers of video games should experience.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the premiere of the series on the Nintendo Switch and it makes the player feel right at home, whether newcomers or the more experienced ones. With an array of new elements and mechanics but keeping its formula well anchored in the series' conventions, New Horizons will delight its players thanks to a marvelous game environment and world development, and its hefty rewards, packing enough content to leave everyone growing attached and enveloped by its experience.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the best entry of the series so far, but it is not the ultimate Animal Crossing yet. There are some minor flaws, but nothing really noticeable. Its quality of life details, the daily routine of grabbing some fruit, chatting to your neighbors or looking for surprises, plus the very new mechanics are so delightful that we can only say good things about one of the most rewarding Nintendo experiences yet.

The series has managed to evolve without betraying the spirit of the previous parts: to spend peaceful days and do what we want, without pressure. Possibly, New Horizons is the breath of fresh air we needed.

By consolidating so much power in your hands, the game threatens to upend the Animal Crossing vision of community living.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a wide fantastic cozy Nintendo game that makes you feel somewhat nostalgic and feel like a kid again. It has a lot of amazing side characters, and so much things to make on your little island and to expand. The customization in the game is limitless with plenty of creativity to unleash around you. Tom Nook may be a con artist but no way I am turning down a deal he gives me. The character customization and the clothing is quite unique. You can choose what you want to set to yourself and what you want to wear in general and including what your style of your character can be. anyway this is my full review of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and if you read this review thank you.

this game was never finished, it has less features than any previously existing version of the game and absolutely nothing to do besides collect or decorate with cosmetics. every previous edition of the game had drastically more activities, this one just feels like a toy set rather than an interactive experience. there are also massive QOL issues that were better handled in previous entries. in general, i'd suggest that you try playing ACNL on the 3ds if you can access it, since it is a drastically better experience in every aspect besides the resolution, which can easily be upscaled if you play via an emulator.

A GORGEOUS ZEN ESCAPE HELD BACK BY STUBBORN DESIGN: Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a difficult game to score. On one hand, it is the ultimate "cozy" masterpiece—a vibrant, relaxing island getaway that offers unprecedented creative freedom through terraforming and outdoor decorating. On the other hand, it is plagued by some of the most frustrating, anti-consumer design choices Nintendo has ever made. It’s a game of extreme highs and puzzling **** EXPERIENCE:The core loop of fishing, bug catching, and building your dream island is undeniably addictive and ****. However, the "Dandori" here is often interrupted by tedious menus and slow pacing. The biggest elephant in the room is the "one island per console" policy; forcing an entire family to share one island—and giving only the first player the power to progress the story—is a baffling move that holds the game back from greatness. If you are a solo player with plenty of patience, it’s a dream. If you are sharing a console or value your time, it can be a test of endurance. PROS: UNMATCHED CREATIVITY: The addition of terraforming and the ability to place furniture anywhere outside allows you to truly make the island your own. THE ULTIMATE ZEN LOOP: A perfect, low-stress experience that rewards you for checking in every day. It’s the gold standard for "comfy" gaming. STUNNING PRESENTATION: The visuals are crisp and charming, and the sound design—from the pitter-patter of rain to the hourly music—is top-tier. MASSIVE UPDATES: As of 2026, the game is finally "complete," with Brewster’s café, farming, and the Switch 2 performance boosts added in. THE CONS:RESTRICTIVE ISLAND POLICY: The "one island per console" rule is a major blow to families. It’s a transparent attempt to sell more hardware that punishes the consumer. TEDIOUS CRAFTING: The lack of bulk crafting is inexcusable. Making thirty bags of fish bait one by one feels like a chore, not a game. SLUGGISH DIALOGUE: While the villagers are cute, their dialogue is often repetitive and lacks the "bite" or personality of older entries in the series. THIN MULTIPLAYER: Beyond visiting friends to shop, there is a surprising lack of meaningful activities to do together online. THE FINAL VERDICT: 7/10: New Horizons is a "Good" game that should have been "Great." It is a beautiful, relaxing tool for creativity, but Nintendo’s stubbornness regarding island saves and quality-of-life features keeps it from being a perfect 10.

Man, I really wanted to like this entry in the Animal Crossing franchise, but it feels like a step back in every way. First off, the villagers. I like to call them "decoration" as these guys feels like blank slates. The crafting feels a little too much as it feels like a step away from Animal Crossing. I'm all for new ideas, but I guess it's just not my thing. There are many positives still. The music once again very good, the amount of inventory space makes it much harder to go back to older entries, and it's very visually beautiful, but too many negatives bring it down for me to not consider a good time.
SummaryIf the hustle and bustle of modern life’s got you down, Tom Nook has a new business venture up his sleeve that he knows you’ll adore: the Nook Inc. Deserted Island Getaway Package. Sure, you’ve crossed paths with colorful characters near and far. Had a grand time as one of the city folk. May’ve even turned over a new leaf and dedicated y... Read More
