The Giver8
Sep 16, 2014
"The Giver" seems like "Divergent" meets "The Village". This has heavy material, philosophic, and unique picture. This is more simple and less boring than Divergent, despite both of it has thought-provoking ideas. I think I'm more enjoyed this film than Divergent.

Hide Your Smiling Faces9
Sep 14, 2014
I think everybody can't enjoy this film because it's slow and soft, but "Hide Your Smiling Faces" serves a meaningful coming-of-age tales and makes it natural as good as the two leading performances. And moreover, the fresh and authentic location fits out the naturalism effort. Maybe you have to little bit patient to understand how great this film is.

Kelly & Cal7
Sep 13, 2014
"Kelly and Cal" is mature-exploration drama with satire comedy and forbidden-and-hidden romance. First question, is this family genre like being noted in many film website? Definitely, not! In first 15 minutes, this film has promising opening, In the middle, when relationship between the older woman (Kelly) and the younger man (Cal) starts weaving, please, It almost disgust me, but thank God, in last 30 minutes it turns out to be it should be. This film has a good and authentic message for you, a new-turned mother, to keep behave. And in this film, it's a real show. But it wouldn't be good if Juliette Lewis and Jonny Weston didn't do their best in this movie.

Starred Up10
Aug 27, 2014
Smart script, powerful story from start to finish, realistic style and terrific performance from Jack O'Connell, MacKenzie successfully makes "Starred Up" hitting your feeling and your mind as hard as the prison life always be. It's easily one of the best prison drama film I ever seen.

Coldwater8
Aug 27, 2014
"Coldwater" has a potential concept, it could be a such remarkable prison thriller-drama film if it keeps tension and dark atmosphere deeper and develop it more and more until being like a time bomb. In fact, the tension comes immediately and makes the plot little bit confusing and dropped instantaneously at the ending. However, "Coldwater" still gives us an interesting stuff to watch.

Hellion8

The Selfish Giant10
Aug 5, 2014
"The Selfish Giant" is an unexpectedly excellent working-class friendship movie. A strong and first-class first-time performance from two young leading actors make a tale about friendship, lost and desperation going quietly emotional and being a proof that British cinema has a film even better than Hollywood.

Mud10
Jun 20, 2014
One of the best Southern American drama ever seen in recent memory and makes me love that genre. "Mud" is sweet and heartwarming drama film about trust, love, loss and woman . It's just like an enchanted-fairytale from Arkansas Texas, easily like Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn

Iluzija10
Jun 17, 2014
Come from Macedonia, not popular place for film, "Iluzija" or represented in English "Mirage", teach filmmaker how to create a powerful heartbreaking drama without any crying scene inside. Strong from beginning until final scene succeeds describing a story about social life of pre-adolescent ; broken home, bullying, friendless, trust-crisis and hope.

There Will Be Blood10
Jun 15, 2014
Many critics called it "a masterpiece" and "One of the best film of decade", then I really agree about that. You can't easily find many film like "There Will Be Blood", very rare, an epic drama film. With a story about family, oil, religion and greed, this film easily become one of the richest film ever made. Daniel Day-Lewis' performance is outstanding.

In a Better World9
Jun 8, 2014
"In A Better World" is a rich melodrama, richer than any melodrama in recent memory. It brings modern human themes into the deep, such as family, marriage, parental, friendship, death, morality and professionalism. This film successfully mixing, comparing and contrasting two different world between adult and children and two strong stories in Africa and Denmark.

Not only having a beautiful title and scene of white winter, "Winter In Wartime" successfully combines a touching War-melodrama with thriller elements. This film brings us to examine ourselves how to confront, betrayal and ally, courage and duplicity as surrounding us complexly.

X-Men: Days of Future Past9
May 28, 2014
Eventhough there's a bit poor and unsatisfactory on its visual effects, but with a fascinating concept. a success of combining part of previous X-Men's franchise and long list of star, X-Men : Days of Future Past easily becomes one of the best film in 2014 so far (but not the best).

Sling Blade10
May 4, 2014
Billy Bob Thornton succesfully makes himself a centre of this film : a director, a screenwriter and a leading role, but you will clearly remember one of those, an extraordinary performance. A tagline : "Sometimes a hero comes from the most unlikely place." may has a different point of view, beautiful and dark come up, but it's nothing to do to this film. This film makes Southern storytelling / drama genre more powerful and stronger.

The Shining10
Apr 29, 2014
A masterpiece of horror cinema history. "The Shining" is strange, a slow-burning, step by step haunting and disturbing your mind till it blows and your mouth gaped. Stanley Kubrick and Jack Nicholson's outstanding performance bring this film to high level and hard to matched and put it to be a standard for modern horror film. At last, The Shining is the greatest psychological horror ever made and I'm convinced that credit never switch to another film for long long time.

The Kid with a Bike10
Apr 27, 2014
Simple tale with satisfied execution, The Kid with A Bike is deeply inspiring film about the power of random act of kindness. The whole of those things geniusly wrapped by Dardenne's original style which makes this drama more attractive and realistic.

The Tree of Life10
Apr 24, 2014
A masterpiece always has unique things, epic sides, original ones and unduplicatable. The Tree of Life is that case. This film is so poetic, stylish and beautiful. (One of the best poetic film ever made). The core of this film is the visual and its visualization. That the unique and original in this film. You will be confused and feel peculiar with this film, at least in early 50 minutes, you would say "What is that?". But, There is 88 minutes left to see and to understand. No wonder If this film called the best film in 2011.

Patrick: Evil Awakens7
Apr 23, 2014
For a gothic sci-fi horror, Patrick is a mediocre entertaining film, and for a telekinetic-based story, Patrick serves a different story about how telekinetic power works and it's original (eventhough it's remake 1978 a same name film), so almost as well and spooky as a previous same-genre remake film, "Carrie".
Apr 17, 2014
Labor Day9
Apr 17, 2014
With a special narration by Toby Maguire and despite a predictable ending, Labor Day successfully presents a melodrama film without too-over emotional. Another good performance from Kate Winslet.
Apr 14, 2014
Joe10
Apr 14, 2014
This film is worth to watch. "Joe" is a real-life story, a emotional drama with nice shot and nice scriptconcept. Cage give his whole best performance on this, can be his best performance this year, a big praised also sent to Sheridan and Gary Poulter, a fit and impressive ensemble.

Joshua10
Apr 14, 2014
Joshua is a perfect and smart psychological thriller with kids as the leading role. Not horror, but the tension in this film so dark and thrilled. Slow in story-telling but geniusly sure.
